Not quite a real cx but I put this together last weekend and really loving riding it. Flies along. Bloody scary on rough descents due to sram apex shifter not giving much room for fingers when braking from the hoods as using mtb calipers and not the correct road ones. Other than that, I cant wait to get out on it again once man flu has gone.Think I will have to get some proper tyres for when it gets slippier. They were only £8 each from crc and not to bad considering.

It’s my birthday too. I have man flu and have splashed out on two DH tubes from crc. Happy days

To be honest, when they had the original pads in them, them they had more initial bite. So fearsome in fact that Ive detuned them with sintered pads. I had trouble with the pistons sticking on the codes and after a while got fed up with the big ugly grey things. I don’t think I would by the fr versions without any pad contact adjusters though. The pads do wear quick on the ones and I like to maintain an even amount of lever movement so do use the adjusters a often. If the codes are working fine and you are not bothered about the weight I would keep using them but I love my the ones.

Yes you can. Done it to front and rear. You can do the end caps too. Its easy with a pillar drill. You can do it in the vice with a hand drill but I wouldn’t recommend it. The QR axle has a small reducer in the center. Most of the axle already has a 10mm id. Ive also done one to 12mm. Much trickier to center the axle not having a lathe but as a trial and error experiment, it is still in the hub and on my big bike now.

Yes and hub axle or you can drill them out if its hope hub.

No, you can do a 10mm axle conversion on standard QR rear drop outs.

I got the full blown ones but last years model for the same money. Basically the same as the megas now I think. Still working flawlessly.

Ive had codes and now have the ones. Both very powerfull brakes but the codes are old, bulky and the seals are not great in the older ones. I also got a mega deal on the ones from formula them selves when they had a silly sale. £160 ish both ends with discs iirc.

I tried a medium last Saturday. I need a large and rode it for 20 seconds on tarmac. I thought it was shit and am very happy that it was too. Phew!

You can pop a set of 29 lowers on to a 26″ csu. Crown offset will not be quite right and the fork will be marginally flexier but meh. Its around £120 for the QR lowers. 15mm are more. I did it with a set of float 120’s giving me 110 or 90mm with or with out spacers iirc

Hey there sweet stuff X. I wouldn’t bother personally. As above and lacquer looks crap after a while when chipped and you cant buff up with T cut. The lacquer you use has to be compatible with the vinyl of the decals or they melt before your eyes and ruin the whole day and lastly, stop being a tart. Helitape over them if you must darling. Easy and fafless option. Use 3m or good stuff though otherwise it may yellow with uv. Oh and don’t get that wrong otherwise your nice new decals will be coming back off with the badly placed tape. Luv luv luv XXX
