Eat steak and drink blue bird ale in the bull at coniston then nip over the road where elvis may be on if your lucky. Well I think it was elvis or maybe just a bare nuckle boxing champion who did a good blue swade shoes. He was quite good either way.

Apparently you can fit a 29er rear wheel in a 5 but it wont clear the front mech. Single ring up front would be a thought though eh.

Your 27. You can’t hang around here any more.

Never had any issues with X9 or XO oh and you take the top off to change the cable, not the bottom. User error +1.

I think it’s only fair to remember that there’s more to bikes than wheel size.

A 29er Surly Karate Monkey is one of the worst mountain bikes I’ve ever ridden.

4 big and 2 little wheeled bikes. They all have their place. Mostly the garage.

Well I’ve thrown it together and had a shake down ride and all seems well. Weighs in at 28.5 lbs on the bathroom scales and throws 68 degrees with the 36’s and a big fat pig headset (which is coming off as it weighs nearly 400 grams and is made of pig iron. Road through the stickiest, yellow dog egg ive ever seen. Went all over the linkage, front mech, shock and some in my teeth. Have been going wild with the tooth brush for the last half an hour. Will brush teeth later.

Another maverick fail. Fabled around these parts as being crafted from pure cheese. It doesn’t help that the Tolla rides on my doorstep with frequent maverick issues. Feel for you though dog.

I recon if you tied a piece of string to each fame and hung one off each ball, you would know which was painted if blind folded.

Yep. Strip back to bare aly. Quick polish with autosol and then a spray with mr muscle. Hey presto. Works raw. Did it to my seat post to match the frame as it was tatty ano.

Have seen a couple of bent ones Al but mine is as straight as a die. The boss must have been on the shop floor the day mine came was knocked up.

Loads of reducer headsets out there. I wouldn’t be buying a new set of forks just to fit a £40 headset.

Don’t forget, primers, finish coats, candy’s, lacquers on some flash paint jobs. Gota weigh half a can of coke. I’ve gone for a raw intense but not to save weight. Just hate scratched paint work. Rather it looked 5 years old straight out of the box. Save me the bother of trashing it.

Mine did not come with a grease gun and I had a little whine. They said they would send me one out. It came with a little adaptor so you can use any grease gun as ropey says. 😥

Don’t buy those ffs. They are incredibly inaccurate. Different readings every time with the same weight. Has to be digital or expensive mechanical IMHO.

Just one word of warning if you go for the diy build, you may end up with a garage/shed/kitchen full of your friends and workmates bikes that require building, finishing or tweaking. I’ve only built myself 3 bikes but done about a dozen for friends.

I will second that but some bring beer. It ain’t all bad.

Buy my large black ano / carbon rear 09 model yeti 575. Comes with headset fitted, seat clamp, front mech, chain protector and spare mech hanger £700 posted. All you have to do is put crown race on the forks and pop a bb and crank set on and it’s almost built.
