Mark, all 10 speed chains are not the same pin width. Shimanos HGX’s are 5.8, conex are 5.9 and kmc and others are 6.2. so I guess that may not all work on shimano 10 speed blocks. I may be wrong. You can buy 9 speed 12:39 blocks and I’ve looked at my mechs and recon they will clear. I’m going to run 1 x 10 so I want as bigger rear block as poss.

Good news on the chain apart from conex have a 5.9 pin length. The KMC X10 that i’ve ordered has a 6.2. The shimano is 5.88 so I think the speed KMC X10 maybe wont work with its pin length.
I know Ian, do you know if that was sram or shimano he tried?

Next question, is a shimano 10 speed block compatible with any 10 speed mtb chain or does it have to be the shimano HGX type.

So does a sram 10 speed shifter have an actuation ratio of 0.8:1 ? No it’s still 1:1.

The pull is dictated by the shifter and there are no limitations to a mech’s movement across the block so I cant see why it wont work. Using sram shifter and mech by the way and I assume cassette brands and chain brands are cross compatible. Ordered everything except mech so I’ll either be buying a specific or telling you that it works.

Keep hitting. I actually remove the nut if its not budging and hit the threaded end carefully with a proper hammer. Order two crush washers too as the old ones can be bar stewards to get to re tighten the nuts.

Yes. I borked the thread on my floats. Its a separate piece that unscrews from the damper assembly and is about £22 from mojo. Just tell them what year and model they are.

Similar experience here. Run a bit when the weather is crap or lose mojo and although it improves cv fitness it seems to reduce my pedal power. Shifts strength around the legs maybe. Stronger runner, not such a good cyclist unless you do them both together I suppose. They do say run to get fitter at biking but not the other way around though don’t they. They ?
