Oi! I even road a main stream non niche/boutique 26er just to keep it real. Sticks the bird up at stu and the smokey braided hair, hemp knicker wearing, welsh camp site dwelling, old hippy lady.

Wish I’d have known that. Cancelled a drop bar mtb project cus some incorrect know it all on here told me it wouldn’t work. I thought it would but didn’t want to shell out £200 on shifters if they didnt.

More like Audi vs Skoda, as far as i’m concerned. A Salsa would be nice, but would i enjoy it any more than an On-One? i’m not so sure.

I guess it’s all about whether you would want to wear a casio or a Seiko/Citizen/insert reasonably priced nice watch brand. Would you feel the benefit when you tell the time. Probably not but when some one else notices your nice watch and tells you that they like it. Maybe. Not to mention not having to replace a battery or cheap scratched lens or strap…
Not that I’m dissing scandals. I have cheapo bikes and expensive ones and like them all. Don’t have a casio though 😉

Kia vs Alfa imo. Both do the job but do you want a run around or something to polish and love?

I was going to build a drop bar geared 29er and wanted to use roadie levers with the cables all tucked away nicely. Have a 10 speed sram mech and was buying sram apex levers to use with avid bb7s. Junked the idea now as it was going to cost £300 plus. Expensive experiment with a bike that is effectively a winter hack.

The rubber is too soft and a piece of glass got trapped in the rubber and was puncturing the tube

Most tyres will struggle to stop a shard of glass and not checking the tyre the first time is just a school boy error not a fault with the rubber compound. 🙄

May I ask how you know this. I can not find any ratio information on the sram road kit.

Conti gator skins ultra. Never had a puncture.

Hey RD, was in the shed today looking at a rigid 29er that I dont use much as I have a couple of others, so I popped on some roadie bars and thought, hhmm I could turn this in to a geared cx type thing with skiny tyres and some bb7s. Just been looking at shifter/brake levers and I realise what a mine field of compatibility and expense I’ve wondered into. Is it worth it? Will I hate the ride? At the moment I feel like I have a project and potentially a new / different type of ride at the end of all the hair pulling and price cringing. Thoughts?

Won’t be able to use flats as they’re too bumpy

Challenge on to ride them in flip flops then.
