Well done mrblobby, have enjoyed reading this thread.
Whereabouts in the country are you based? One of my team mates is a sub-19min man who took a year off last year. However, he’s got his mojo back and has put a right shift in over Winter in preparation for the coming season. He rides for HD Revolutions (HDR) based in Huddersfield. Name of Mark Thaxter, if your paths should cross at all.

I work for a SunRace distributor and we’ve been flogging these by the box full just lately. In fact SunRace themselves have been struggling to meet demand of the MX3 11-42, although they’re back in stock now and we’re expecting another batch this week. We’ve plenty of stock of the MS3 11-42 and both 11-40s (and we do next day delivery) so your local shops should be able to order them in overnight for you.

Sanity Assasin was it you I was supposed to meet to buy the old carrera? My bri in law met you in the end. I remember watching you outside Dixons as I ate an ice cream thinking ‘is that big Lad him’?!

Btw- I donated that bike to my local community public hall charity sale and it raised £100

Not me, think that would have been Dangerous Beans (Spinal Tap off mlehworld) who you got the Carrera off.

Although I did invite you to come along with the Hudds Star Wheelers when you were wanting to do a few midweek road rides in the Hudds area.

A few years ago I bought a pair of Hope Pro 3 hubs to build up for my winter road bike. One of the front bearings ‘went’ after the first ride. I looked online to see what size they are, bought a couple from my local bearing factors and replaced the dodgy one. Bearings are consumables, they ‘go’. As it happens the same bearings are still going strong and haven’t needed replacing again since. To me, the OP comes across as the kind of customer that shops actively dread.

Had a road crank snap across the pedal thread on me once. Stood up, mashing a VERY low cadence, in the big ring, luckily only doing about 5mph. Miraculously stayed on my feet – but it did cost me a sore right plum from the top tube landing!
The one (only!) bonus to come from the incident was that I finally ‘cured’ the creaking noise that had plagued me for months…

I’ve met loads off here, although mainly through mlehworld social meets. Quite a few have stayed at my house for various reasons over the years – including Onion and the Biggest Hitter, Cynic-Al.
I often hear comments at Mountain Mayhem when I’m wearing a mleh top, so I know whoever it is posts on here. Also met Fred there the year Team Bullheart were doing their thing at Eastnor.
Met Crazy Legs at Tameside circuit last year when I was racing the 4th Cat series and he stayed back to marshal.
I generally tend to be the ‘recognisee’ than the ‘recogniser’ though, especially since I organise the Colne Valley MTB Challenge which draws a lot of support from this very Parish.

If your prime consideration is avoiding punctures (whilst not feeling like you’re towing a bath full of concrete) then it’s the Duran Plus all the way. I get at least 3,000 miles out of a pair and the only time I’ve ever punctured is when I ran a pair so far down the protection layer was showing through like a blue stripe. The buggers are bullet proof!

Apparently the incident was caught on CCTV. The Police asked to see it, but were distracted. They said “will Yoplait again please…”

I’m with duffyc – Green Day.
First (and last!) arena gig, the MEN. Stage was in Manchester, my seat somewhere near Oldham.
Naively on my part, I went along expecting great things, not a pop concert for teenyboppers and families. I don’t do pop music and I’ll not set foot in an arena again. Awful evening and I haven’t played their stuff since either. In fact my daughter bought me that album that came as 3 separate CDs when it came out – they’re still untouched in their cellophane.

That bloke on the skiing vid makes all those monkey noises to shift folk on the way down, then stops and stands right in the middle of the bloody trail at the end. Fin de cloche!

IME Schwalbe tyres are much easier to refit than they are to fit the first time. Once they’ve been on a while they stretch a bit and become a bit more pliable. 700x23c Durano Pluses on a Fulcrum Racing 5 are a pretty snug fit.

Maybe his new one has stabilisers?

Didn’t someone post a thread on here recently about how he gets what equates to a temporary, non-sexually-aroused stork-on upon dismounting his bike after a turbo session or suchlike? Basically stating that once he gets off the bike then blood rushes back into that area to relieve the slight numbness caused by being seated in the same position for a time, and this often results in an ‘unexpected’ erection.

Andy Whitworth at Try Cycles in Kirkburton is the local ‘go-to’ wheel builder in Huddersfield. Very good reputation in the local cycling community.

Managed a purgatorial 20 mins on the turbo to loosen the legs a bit. Glad to have stuck a tick in the box, but no element of enjoyment whatsoever!

2nd Sunday in May, which is the 8th in 2016.
I’ll get the website updated shortly.

When I was made redundant a few years ago the company was on its arse and gave me 3 cheques of roughly a third of the total each. I was also required to cash them 1 per month. The first 2 bounced and I had to call back in and get new cheques which were both issued from different banks. On the second occasion the MD actually told me to drive straight to the bank and pay it into my account asap as there was ‘definitely enough in this account at the moment’!
It all worked out ok in the end, but it was a bit frustrating at the time.

Durano Plus every time, here. One solitary puncture in excess of 25,000 miles – and that was only because I discovered I’d run the tyre so far down that the blue puncture protection strip was showing!

Would any of these recommendations be suitable for use on a push iron? More specifically a road bike? Thanks.
