Sounds like a decent route, but why did you not go over the dam head at Wessenden Res (by the deer farm) and follow the trail past Swellands Res over to Brun Clough? It's a great trail which misses out that drag up Mount Road and you join up with the same trail anyway.

I always thought that the 'trainers over the phone wire' thing meant that someone had thrown a pair of trainers over a phone wire. I'm damn sure there were no turf wars between different gangs in my village in the early 70s, but I regularly saw trainers (well 'pumps' actually, the word 'trainers' hadn't been invented round here back then) on phone wires round and about the bit where all the council houses are. So, perhaps not 'poverty', but maybe deprivation then?

I've just ordered one of these for my daughter. Apparently they're very popular with teenage gurls.

    A laptop computer

Thats the same one I linked to in my first post

You expect people to read your posts with any degree of real interest?

    Noob fail.

Anyway, it ticks all your boxes – so get your card out and do the deed. Couldn't find one in any of the retailers in t'Uddersfeeled today as they're selling out quick. 3-4 working days for delivery when buying online from PC World.

jonny, you wearing some of those big clog things……

They're in the loft somewhere Ton, I'll dig em out again someday. If I told you how easy they are to screw some cleats to, I bet you'd be down to Walkley's for a pair in the morning….
Instead I'll be wearing my steely's with the pink laces.

    Wish i could afford it

Silly thing is, my mate works for one of the Co's serving the Academy and can get me in on a complimentary. Still can't afford the night out though.

Remember buying my 'hippies with attitude' t-shirt there on the last night of the Impurity tour – good times….

I could have picked you up on my way through from t'Udders if I'd have known, fella.

what is this "clitoris" thing you're all talking about?

you may laugh, but a friend told me her husband never found it in 20 years of marriage (despite looking)

Bl00dy hell Barnesy – I know you're not one to recognise the act of 'trespass' much and leading a ride down an 'illegal' footpath is one thing, but showing another bloke where his own wife's clematis lives is taking a bit of a liberty I reckon… 8O

    Easy.

The Sisters Of Mercy + New Model Army + Skeletal Family, Huddersfield Town Hall, c1983/4

That was Sunday 14th October 1984, John.

The Chameleons, supported by Salvation – Leeds Warehouse 8th September 1986. Two fantastic live bands.

Green Day at the MEN a fortnight since. Music was (mostly) good, playing of the crowd by Billy-Joe was embarrassing, and the venue is so big I reckon the stage was in Manchester but I was sat somewhere in bl00dy Oldham. I've waited sodding years to see them live too. At least I now know that 'Arena' gigs are not for me.

Contrast that to Stiff Little Fingers at Holmfirth Picturedrome a month since. Intimate venue, myself and the stage were in the same postcode, and the pit at the front was full of bald 40-somethings having a great time knocking **** out of each other. Ace.

    No New Model Army?

    Here's 51st State then…

A hugely influential part of my teenage years in the 80's. I was forever driving to Hebden Bridge to get my clogs re-soled at Walkley's. Til I got some proper 'irons' put on in the end…
