Biggest difference I found was getting used to pushing a 53t ring as opposed to a 44t. Once I’d done a couple of months and built up my strength then the averages rose quite quickly.
Full lycra is the way to go though, it’s the right tool for the job.

Endo hasn’t logged my stats correctly for today’s ride yet, so there’s possibly a glitch at their end at the mo too?

All this not talking for xx amount of time is utterly pointless and downright bloody childish. She’d get told so in no uncertain terms too. It’s pathetic.

Mind you, I am divorced now……

I’m ok with it – saves me or anyone else taking a tumble. Can’t see the holes if you’re riding tight in a group.
I like the ‘looking out for each other’ culture – it can be hard to find these days.

I’m with you on this. When I’m chewing the bars with the quick lads on a Sunday club ride I want to know what’s going on in front of me when I can’t see the road ahead. Also, the roads are often so bad in places that a shout of ‘out’ or ‘middle’ (or whatever is necessary) is much the preferred option to removing a hand from the bars at pace.

robdob – see if you can get a discount for 2 as I reckon I could do with a proper bike fit for the roadie. (Also live in West Yorkshire) 8)

An even better deal for 3 would be good – I’m in Hudds

I didn’t see anywhere on the course that was ‘unrideable’ due to mud. I pushed up all the slippery hills because they were a combination of too steep and/or too slippy (incl. rocks and roots) for me and I was actually faster walking anyway. Everywhere else that was muddy (up, flat or down) I rode as fast as I could. I did 6 laps, ranging from 46mins to 51mins and didn’t think that ‘mud’ was an issue at all.

I can’t believe no one is prepared to doorstep him. He claims he gets paid in cash, so why not pop round to his house with a few quid in your pocket just in case he needs some change….
A lass once asked me to sort out a small financial matter with an ex of her’s. It was about a pair of spds that he owed her for. It was amazing how quick the money appeared when I knocked on his door.

Some albums are so ingrained in my psyche that I can hear a song randomly on the radio and then not only automatically start the next track on the album in my head as the first one finishes, but I’m also disappointed when the DJ either speaks or just mixes in the next completely different track on their playlist!
I also experience the same kind of disappointment when songs don’t follow each other that have no connection whatsoever – other than randomly being on any one of quite a few ‘mix’ tapes that I used to listen to a lot at work years ago.

I’ve had a V-Brake rim peel off for around a quarter of the wheel circumference and managed to zip tie the tyre to the wheel enough to be able to ride back to the car again.

I also had to clean out the thread on my mate’s mech hanger half way down the Pleney, when his saint rear mech literally just fell off. I screwed the bolt in from the opposite side until there was enough clean thread for it to bite again from the correct side, then put it all back together again as it had all survived intact. He never had any more issues with it at all.

I’ve got a pair of Mavic Open Pros on Hope Pro 3s for my winter wheels. I’ve also got the replacement bearings in stock for when necessary.

Because it was our 10th Anniversary this year I asked local lad Dave Longbottom, a keen, young photographer who loves filming mtb, to come along and make a short film to document the day for us.

    Here’s the result:

Turn your hands so that your wrists are a lot lower than usual. This not only forces the body position down too, it also means that when you are really pulling on the bars you are effectively pulling them down towards the floor.

I live local, and despite regularly riding with the organiser and the route coming through my village, I wouldn’t touch this event today.
Brutal summed it up nicely for me too.
    Well done fella.

According to FaceFaff, the organiser has phoned the Council and they’ve been up and cleared the snow now.
The FULL ROUTE is now back ON.

That top tube mounted bag of bandito’s looks a good bet for big days on the road bike. I’ve been thinking about something like this myself after running out of pocket space on Easter Monday’s 163 miler.

And no doubt if any of the previous posters were to be pulled for a slight transgression or momentary lapse (the kind that we’re all prone to from time to time), instead of being nuked from orbit as we ‘should’ be, they’d merely expect the Copper to show some ‘common sense’ and let them on their way with a warning. Because that would be all that was really required etc etc
