Shirley people are going to get bored of changing their wheel sizes soon and just go back to riding bikes??

    How cool was that!

I love Antur- not ridden the black though, there’s was a proper-job of a drop in there!

Yeah I also got it from itunes about 3-4 months ago, was definitely there then. Great film.

Bit of a slow burner though.. after the first watch I was like ‘meh’. But I go back to it all the time now, watch a little segment..

Have you been onto Canyon? I believe they offer a service to replace bearings.. That at least takes the guess work out of it

I guess I always like to replace the float fluid after my previous experiences with fluid migration into the air chamber on the Fox32.

I know if I empty it out and replace its 100% got the correct amount of fluid.

Trailstar front, Pacestar rear here. I really rate them for everything other than thick mud.

Wear has been ok so far, they seem to be holding up better than my old nobby nics.

Run them tubeless at around 25psi on Crossmax SX wheels.

^ These guys know what they’re talking about, however I think the OP was asking about in the air spring rather than the talas cartridge.
There is float fluid in there, I think 5ml. It tells you on the fox oil volumes page.

I’m on Hope tech x2 if that makes any difference

    Yep.

    That’s the problem.

In other news gopro black cams are available from sellers on eBay UK for £289 (same price as the silver) brand new. Just got one myself 😉

The trail bundle is good value IMO and comes with maps. Adding the open street maps isn’t hard providing you’re computer savvy. The maps are not as good tho.

Adding specialist maps is really handy though.. Back when Swinley wasn’t a loop I put a map on mine showing all the best bits of single track- worked great.

Damper side has the lockout. Spring side has the air valve.

Line 13 looks correct for a F100 open bath fork

    Don’t rush it!

Nice ridgeway walk from the Maenllwyd in Machen. Or, if you can get in, you’d be hard pressed to get a better walk/pub combo than Garth Mountain/Castell Coch and finish in the Gwaelod inn for lunch.

Sounds interesting; where can I find more info about Garth mountain walks?

Just had a look at their website as I might be in the area this summer.. a lift pass(Presumably for a week?) is 166euro.. ouch!

    Went for a run.
    Got soaked.

This I don’t mind so much; kit in the washing machine, jump in the shower.. job done. When you ride in really grotty weather you’ve got to spend so long getting the bike sorted before you can even think of getting in a nice warm shower 😉

In my experience the edge gps’s are not as water/grit proof as you might expect. I killed an edge 800 in one wet gritty lap of Afan- all the buttons filled with grit so you couldn’t press them down and water got inside too. I didn’t drop it- this was just from rain/gritty water splashing up on it

I got a warranty replacement from Garmin and have been much more careful with it since- if it’s really raining it goes in my bag.

All hinges on an unsealed, tiny, almost unservicable bearing on the end of the axle

Yeah- this is what puts me off of a lot of pedal designs, just looking at them you can tell they wont last. The perfect pedal has got to have decent sized bearings/bushes to cope with the loads as well as good sealing!!

    Syntace pedals-

The exotic cycles pedals seem like a good price, have you used them FROGLEEK?

Ooo those syntace pedals look interesting, but you’re right.. don’t look at the price!!

Good point on the crank length too, I have absolutely no idea what length are fitted but assume it’s probably 170 or 175 as this seems the norm.

r.e. longevity on the point1 pedals I’m actually not surprised, there is so little space for a bearing!

Thanks ferrit. After partially stripping the hub I can’t really understand what the preload adjuster actually does.. it seems independent from bolting up the axle, i.e you can bolt the axle up tight with the preload adapter totally loose and it still spins just fine, equally tightening it right up doesn’t seem to effect how smoothly the wheel turns.

Might take it into LBS on friday and see if they can do the bearings for me

The wheel came on the strive and was new last Summer.

Spoken to a local bike shop today who are mavic dealers. They said to take it in, they can send it off to mavic which would be good as it should be under warranty but it sounds like they can have a pretty shocking turnaround time.

They also mentioned they could order the bearings from mavic and replace in the shop which would obviously be quicker..

I had an old single speed roadrat which I liked, but wanted gears after commuting on it for 6months so I sold it and bought a factory alfine road rat.

Really like mine, use it for riding on the road, commuting and light off road duties where my FS would be overkill

The weird thing I found was the preload adjuster made zero difference. There was just the same amount of free play with it done up as tight as the plastic tool would allow as there was with it totally loose.. Which suggests to me the drive side bearing is goosed. 🙁

    theroadwarrior

Sorry, should have said I tried it with the wheel out. I even stripped off the cassette and removed the drive side end cap and preload adjuster to see what difference reassembling it would make.

I never understood why RS bothered to develop all these bits and bobs to go with the post but then never put anything in the handbook to tell people how to actually use them!

The track was certainly muddy- but from a spectators pov it was a cracking day. Rain held off, sun even came out at one point and it was pretty warm.

Left after the pro seeding runs, some cracking riding from the big boys. V impressed by the step down jump into the last woods section, thats a tricky landing. Brendog was flying on his seeding run.. until he crashed ouch. Saw mark b walking the track earlier in the day, looked worried- but I think that might be his standard look!

    Just seen on Dirt twitter;
“@DirtMagazine: Saracen BDS results from Combe Syd…Gee…Simmonds…Beaumont…Joe Smith…Hill…”
