I’m off to Afan this weekend as well with some mates- been there before so I know it’s ok in the wet but I must admit the forecast looks a little sketchy.. 25mph winds with gusts to 46mph anyone?

Hopefully it’ll improve!! Any one know what it’s like out there at the moment?

Took me ages to get my fork set up right, although I’ve got the open bath version I found I had to have the rebound set really slow. I’m running 82psi, but I’m a little heavier than you at 185lbs.

Definitely try different settings and don’t be too worried if you’re not using full travel.

I’ve got a Jersey and Jacket of theirs in Large where I would normally take a Medium, so yes IMHO they come up a little small.

11 from full slow? What do you weigh? To me that sounds like a lot of rebound and not much pressure

I’ve got a brand new unused speed/cadence sensor that I’m not planning on using.. RRP £44.99, £39.99 on Chainreaction.. £30 posed?

matthew dot c dot austin at gmail dot com if you’re interested.

I’ve only had my premium HR strap for a few months but it seems fine apart from one 230bpm reading.. probably not damp enough as others have said. Good bit of kit imo (So far!)

Gonna hit Swinley forest Friday afternoon (1/2 day friday woop!), Saturday I’m seeing friends down in Yeovil for a beer fuelled cycle/pub crawl and on Sunday it’s a toss up between stopping at FOD on the way back or checking out UK bike park which I’ve not been to in 4+ years.. what’s it like down there these days?

    Forecast is even ok 😀

Another vote for the Gore Alp-X SO Jacket.

£110 on Amazon and worth every penny.

It’s extremely wind proof yet isn’t too warm. Rather than zipping off the sleeves you have use the zips as pit-zips too.
Good selection of pockets and a few high vis strips in case you use it on the road.

Cheaper.. yes, better? I doubt it.

If litespeed expect a frame to last 5 (or 10) years then should say it is a 5 (or 10) year warranty. They have deliberately misled by wording the warranty in a way that implies something greater than they are willing to honour. Poor service.

That’s the crux of the matter; expecting a ‘lifetime warranty’ to last 100years or whatever is un-reasonable and it’s fair enough that the manufacturer suggests what the ‘reasonable’ life time of the frame is.. what is definitely not reasonable is for them to sell it without explaining exactly what they consider the lifetime to be.. they were quick enough to tell you when it failed that it was 5years, they ought to be able to tell new and potential purchasers as well.

I struggle with this, not just cycling shoes either. Seems I need to wear them for an extended period just to decide. Gets expensive after a while!

Cannock chase from Oxford in 1h30? I must have gone the long way when I went…

FOD is a great place, thumbs up for the verderers!

AFAIK the 2012 model has the choice of a silver or black collar.

I use motion-x gps. Works great and has free os-style maps. Great for recording distance/routes covered and those where the **** am I moments. 🙂

I only use my laptop now for image editing from my digi camera and watching dvd/bluerays. iPad is great… and I used to hate apple!

Shameless plug; i’ve got a black iPad 2 16gb wifi for sale (Just upgraded to the 3) so let me know if you’re interested. Excellent condition as I’ve always used a screen protector, boxed.

    Simply put, yes.

FOD is ace 🙂 I’d happily make the trip just for the verderers. Next time I go I must see if I can get someone to show me some of the other trails.

I’m 5’11 ~13stone and the L/XL fit perfectly. Couldn’t get into the mediums.

Are you not using the oil funnel from the bleed kit? You really need to use this- it screws into lever. I did my xtr’s following the instructions and it worked great, took about 30mins

    I’m around 13stone and run the rp2 on my 2011 fuel ex8 at 205psi.

Riding in wales I use the full travel with the indicator a few mm from the bottom, riding elsewhere(Less rocky) I usually don’t get it much more than 10mm from full travel. Took a lot of playing with the pressures and rebound settings so I was happy. FYI i run the rebound 6 clicks from full fast.

Don’t normally take it off to clean, never done it on this bike and it was nice and sunny yesterday after the ride so I thought i’d have a bash 🙂

I’ve no problems shifting and can’t notice it riding, just when I came to take it off I thought to myself “Is that meant to be like that?”

The play could be felt in the freehub with the cassette removed. The cassette is XT I believe. The lockring was tight before removal and I tightened it up after cleaning and the play was still there.

Perhaps it’s nothing, it’s not something I checked when the bike was new though so it’s difficult to tell if it’s ‘just like that’ or is a problem developing.

I thought RP2’s only had propedal on and off, where as the RP23 has a 3 position switch.

Can you notice any difference in the ‘new’ position?

    It’s an old android saying

“There’s an old android saying which I believe is peculiarly appropriate
here.”, and says that In binary language it goes something like this:
001100111011000111100, which roughly translated means, “Don’t stand around jabbering when
    you’re in mortal danger.”

I think it means you’ve been taken in by the marketing

Go outside and ride your bike

If its a rear rack you’re wanting to fit you could get one of the topeak racks which clamp to the seat post only. They also have the excellent mtx-quick-track with corresponding bags that slide onto the racks

45/18 On my Roadrat which I use for commuting.
Most hills are fine and it’s a dream on the flat, I can hit 20mph without spinning out.

I did have to modify my route home a little to avoid a really steep hill that I was having to walk up- well, there’s no avoiding it but I was able to attack it from a different direction that breaks the climb into 2 more manageable chunks.

Whats your cleat positioning like? I get foot ache when I have it too far forward. Since moving them all the way back (SPDs) I find it much more comfortable.

Are the properties of carbon (Or any other material for that matter) affected by temperature- YES

Does the range of temps your bike actually experiences make any measurable difference to the ultimate or fatigue strength of the frame- NO

    Don’t worry about it 🙂

It’s certainly an attractive alternative, if you were flying I guess less so, but with a van it seems a no brainer

Yup, went out Monday (15 mile each way commute, once a week) an made the mistake of wearing shorts.. Big mistake! Think it was even colder today too

Yup same here, the belt that came with mine is also rubbish.

Great shorts but potentially crown-jewel exposing.
