If by transverse you mean from hub flange and spokes to dropout, yes, that.

Have taken the cassette off and freehub seems solid, no play in axle, which I’m guessing would preclude a collapsed bearing the issue @rickmeister

Seems like OP admits his maintenance has been naff, but has taken it to a shop and asked them if they can fix the post, they can’t but without consultation try to rip it out, and break frame in process.
OP seems to have been honest, LBS seem to be honest, no need for anybody on here to be gobby about it, LBS supplying a frame at a bit (20-35%) off trade seems fair. 3.5k frame, 30% margin, 2.3k trade, 1.8k for new frame, everybody learns a valuable life lesson and life goes on. With nobody being uppity or gobby apart from inexplicably a few on here.

There are 3 different lasts in the Lake range tho, so a shoe that you have tried previously may not have been correct for you.
It is possible to estimate which shoe would work best if you can take measurements. Google findyourfit. It’s not ideal tho.

I have an Intense Recluse that has zerk needle fittings, the box junction is shielded by old inner tube so v little gets in and it gets regularly greased with marine grease. 1st set of bearings lasted me 4 years, this set, less that a year. I get that I have got unlucky but i can’t be arsed with changing bearings every year on top of greasing them every couple of months.
I’ve ordered some Max’s, lets see if the do better than the std enduro’s that are in there now

If full complement is best for suspension but Enduro are not the best quality, is there a better full complement ball or angular contact bearing?

All the SKF, or FAG full complement bearings that I can find appear to be cylindrical which won’t take side load

I’ve tried to read this thread and given up. I can’t understand half of it, can’t understand almost all of the names for groups of people that are being bandied about (woke, gammon etc), I can’t tell if people are being rude, genuine or sarcastic and can’t tell if people are racist, anti-racist or wind up merchants and I have no idea what CRT is or who these philosophers are.

I started reading it thinking I would get some understanding of what this news channel is about and a little bit of education. However I find myself utterly confused instead.
