saddle too low, flat pedals!?!?!, rear brake cable needs reigning in and your logos aren't lined up. Good pointing on the brickwork though.

    7/10 good, room for improvement

60mph on a road near Hawes on me HT, (combination of long hill and cat'n'mouse drafting with chums). Low 50's mph offroad on a track in Plymbridge, (combination of big rings and youthful exuberance).

There's also a road near Lopwell Dam where if can hit 25mph on the first corner and hold it, you'll freewheel to 50+ without trying. Huge run off as well.

Not ridden since January due to new addition to the family. Like Yetidave I have a 4month and a (nearly) 3yr old. For all those folk who say "just make the time" etc I invite you to come round for a day and you'll see why you're talking plumbs.
It could be another couple of months before I can start night riding again and even then we're talking 7:45pm starts after bed/bath routines. The last daytime ride I did was last September.

    bleddy kids 🙁

edit: commute totals about 750miles a year + more for sneaky lunchtime rides

coming round to Van Halen's way of thinking.

Tiz a tricky one coz XO shifters are wider than anything similar I've used in the past. I've found my fore finger and thumb wrap nicely around the shifter without changing gear while the remaining 3 digits do the grunt of the hanging-on. Ruffians might be too narrow 🙁

aaahh Monksie!! how are you snukums? I'm still after one of your 'specials' if you're passing through. Has the w@nkers-cramp cleared up yet?

I've seen the cut fown grips on CRC but they seem too short/too expensive/not in stock.

Might have to go with the hack saw approach with a clamp at one end…. will that really work?

that looks perrty, how long is that grip? I reckon 80mm is about right.

S.O.: i was looking for something a little less Heath Robinson.
njee: oh if i could find some 🙁

also, if you've got gripshift one side bar ends on t'other, do you still need a lock on?

I go to the afternoon sess's and turn up the second they open. Never had to wait more than 20mins and yesterdays biccy assortment was top notch. Minipack of bourbons, mint club and another mint club washed down with some Twinnings Earl Grey! not bad for Stockport.

I'm down a pound on last week. Not bad considering I've only ridden once all year and I ate a kg of cadburys on Sunday.

I'd ditch any without the red phosphor bronze stuff inside.
Simon – i think you might be using DX bearings…?

From what I've gleamed over the years, DU = dry unlubricated while DX = dry needs grease. They're both dry bearings coz they don't need continual lubing like in yer car'n'sh!t.

    could be wrong

At 25 I had loooooads of money. At 35 I have money, (just), I wouldn't worry about it. By the time you have kids & a mortgage you'll be just as skint as everyone else.

'contractual' – if you've signed for 3 and you leave early they could sue for breach blah blah blah. You can leave early if your health is being affected. I'd be honnest with your current employer and see if you can work something out.
A call to the Citizens Advice Bureau will help.

HOLY CRAP WE'VE BOUGHT A CAR

Despite the missus saying she didn't care what car we bought it was quite obvious that when we got to the dealer she did. A couple of test drives later she settled on….

    …..wait for it…..

    a **** Vectra!

    this **** Vectra

    vital stats:
    2007 57 VAUXHALL VECTRA 1.9 CDTI EXCLUSIVE DIESEL [120] 5 Door Hatchback
    57k on the clock
    £6982
(which we got down a bit and also got a vaguely good trade in price on the now 'old' car)

    Thanks for all your help

(still would have pref'd a Honda but this'll do for a few years)

edit: boot not as big as the Avensis but with the seats down you can easily get 2 Nicolai's in there

3 bed + loft conversion 1940ish semi, 2adults+2kids = £100 per month for both. The tumble dryer eats alot of leccy.

ok I'm back from Arnold Clark (Honda but not Honda). There's loads of cars to choose from. Some new front runners are the Mongdeo Estate and the C-Max. The best deal for me looked like:

    56 Mondeo Edge 1.8 35k on the clock £6500

I've got looooads of garages still to try. Going to a 'real' Honda place tomorrow.

I don't like SPAM Skodas! I also don't like Lambo's, Freelanders, Rovers and Jags. Honda is front runner followed closely by Seat then Ford.
