Good luck. I’ve only seen depression up close when we had a miscarriage. Thankfully it was only for a few months. It sounds like you’re doing the right things. Sort it out now before it gets worse.

Monksie – you’re not that unlucky….you know me for a start 🙂 You’re never homeless when you know an Eddie like me.

Doesn’t matter, it’ll be covered in s-h-i-t after the first ride.

Poploc is great…until it starts to stick.

No such thing as a Brontosaurus. What was thought to be a Bront was two sets of bones from an Apato and or Brachio.

    +1 for Bullhearts Anklyosaurus

    or my personal fave, Styracosaurus

    just while I’m ‘ere….
I took a coping saw to the rear pads last night and cut me some X’s. I reckon I’ve got about 20% more stop out of them 🙂 They’re now peeling the rim chrome off, which is nice. I’ve also fangled the chain tug which the freewheel seemed to appreciate. The two front pegs are going to be turned into Salt’n’Pepper pots eventually.
AAANNNNDDD I’ve altered the front brake hanger washers to get some more bite.
1 more: I’ve also stuck ODI Ruffian grips.

I’ve already been laughed at twice by the youfff but this morning I got my first “naaice bike mistah”. 8)

Tiz the bottom of Woodbank Park, alongside the river. It was all rideable until one small section fell into the river.

    stick that in google maps

andyl – probably, but this seemed a quicker method. Most of the small stones were too busy rolling back down the hill. I was thinking about what NBT said and he’s right [faints] last time SMBC did this within a week there was a vast pile of stones at the bootom of the hill like some random gravel trap. The muppet Bellys saw probably started it all by digging a trench with their back wheel.

    nbt – I hear what you’re saying 🙂
I’ve ridden down it for ages (as well you know). The “highest standards” left me with a lot of hurty bits and a lost bike computer…who do I sue 🙂
I much pref’d the way it used to be. Like you say, give it a winter or two.

Just for scale, that’s a 10″ thick piece of timber. The left hole was caused by crossers going up. The remains of a mudguard and peg are still in the ditch to the left were one tried to come down recently. Looks like they did the same as me. Anyway, the gradient is evil and full of marble size stones. Once you get going there’s not much hope of stopping to size anything up, especially at night. This was only my second trip down post-sanitisation.
I didn’t bother filling the right hole in [sniggers] as there’s no way you could possibly turn in that sharp. Pic makes it look lame.

    +1 what Stoner said.

Get it out there and make fun of it. You can scare folk into going to the docs or you can relax them a little into going to the docs. I know which one I prefer.

    GO OLD SKOOL
Hollowtech 1 crank arms, UN51 bb and SIS front mech. Job done, total cost about £60.

Look in awe people!… IT’S THE FUTURE (only about 20years ago)

edit: that front mech with an XO GripShift is as rare as a quick handy off the Pope but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

+1 simonm said, you wouldn’t believe the Photoshopping involved to get this muddy look perfected.

Pretty much every summer Mam Tor et al could double for the Nevada desert and Edale might as well be Las Vegas 🙂

It probably was to start off with, but over time the corners got battered off by insane weather until gravity uniformly shifted everything into a nice ball shape. Incidentally, less gravity makes for easier up hills and HUGE downhill hills. Olympus Mons on Mars is 14miles high 😯

I’ve been saying this for fookin years. I even once sent a signal through a radiator to prove a point. IMO over short distances of a few metres the best speaker cable is 15amp mains cable. But then what would I know? I’ve just been a sound engineer for like the last 17years.

I’d say whatever floats your boat but she’s a tsunami waiting to happen. Soz, I shouldn’t judge….BUT COME ON!! how many starving people in the world are there? I’m no saint but that is taking the pish. The only reason I can think of for someone to scoff themselves to that weight is to provide the Japanese with some harpoon practice.

There’s fear and then there is FEAR. Small doses of little fear makes the big stuff easier to deal with. I’ve made friends with my fears, (except spiders). Bizarrely, whilst out solo night riding, the more I’m afraid the more I seem to enjoy it.
I used to constantly worry about the mortgage, the kids, the missus leaving, job, blah blah blah but I’ve changed my outlook. Seriously, what is the worst? You end up alone sleeping rough hooked on crack with HIV….ah well, at least you’re not a young conservative.

Ooh this happened to my Elixirs only t’other day. In a ‘not broke don’t fix’ kinda way I’d not serviced mine in about 3years. I removed the pads then used the lever to pump the pistons out as much as poss. Then I removed the caliper, took it apart and used a track pump to pop the pistons out. Everything was given a reet thorough clean. Once dried I then popped the pistons all the way back in using dot oil as a lube. Then I reattached the caliper, bled the system and wanger, banger thank you mamma, braking awesomeness restored.

I’ve been a Stockport native for the last 14+years. It’s ****. The silver lining is that it’s easily ride-able to the Peaks and commutable to MancLand. Other than those it’s a dump of the highest order.
