i had the granite steerer tool on my last bike , i even got the bar end tools but unfortunately they dont fit chromag carbon bars so i returned them . the steerer tool is very nice and easy to fit but the bits are very short on it which can be a pain.

when i got my new bike i ended up selling it as the orange didnt match( should of bought the black version) . i was going to replace it but the new bike had space for a water bottle cage so i went with the topeak side load ninja cage with 18+ multitool attached and haven’t regretted it at all . yes the integration of the granite tool was great but the topeak tool is just so much more useful

Im near cambridge , i grew up in bottisham and now live in the linton area. i ride chicksands once or twice a month, i also visit danbury , woburn and twisted oaks . thetford sucks but there is some better stuff on the brandon side .

pheonix cycleworks in kentford is a fun place to visit too with a good shop they are currently re building the area outside the shop. im not sure if they are reworking the quary side too ( opening again around easter) . apart from that the riding is crap unless you travel quite a distance , rogate is 2 hrs from me, FOD is 3.5hrs for example.

there is a couple of decent pumptracks now though , one in trumpington and one in haverhill . so get yourself a jump bike

ive got transition wraps , project knees and flex knee/shins , i have also got there body Armour .

i get on really well with their pads , i use the transition wraps for lighter stuff and pump track ( ive had these the longest and they are really comfortable) .

i use the flex knee/ shins for new places/trips away ( bike park wales etc)as they are pretty burly with substantial hard caps under the fabric .

the project knees are my newest ones and also my favorite and have now replaced the transitions as my go to pads for most stuff , so comfy, decent protection and fit nicely under trousers too ( i got them half price their full price is mental) . these are the best pads ive ever worn and i would 100% buy them again.

i warrantied my flex pads due to a broken strap but 7idp were really easy to deal with and sent a new pair quickly , i definitely recommend them .

ive also just got the kids transitions for my son as a xmas present

I’ve got there universal mount on my bird as I had no bottle cage mounts and I had previously tried fabric bottles on other bikes and found them useless.

It’s the best bottle mount I’ve ever had I haven’t dropped a bottle since I’ve had it , I’ve used it at bike park Wales , Danbury and chicksands alot and I would buy another if I needed too even with the expense.

I did have the metal gravity ring split but there customer service has been spot on and they sent a replacement out same day. I’ve also asked about a cap for the bottle as I need to run it under my down tube and they are launching one in September.

I use the larger bottle so can’t help with that though, they are very responsive to Facebook messages with questions

I ended up buying a cheap i spec b ten speed lever and swapping the mount onto my 11 speed lever . Then it mounts straight on the hope brake. Shimanos ispec standards are bloody stupid they should just pic one and stick to it

Yes slx ispec ii is differant to xt ispec ii . I made exactly the same mistake its bloody stupid… the slx version has no way of fitting to hope brakes. I ended up getting a i spec b mount to replace it and swapping the mounts over on top of the lever. The slx version is more like ispec 2.5 . Seems hope brakes fit ispec a,b and xt ispec ii but not slx ispec ii

I had it with shimano cleats and dmr cleats and two differant sets of shoes thats why i ended up swapping the pedals to saints. Dmrs cleats are garbage i tried them on shimano pedals too and same thing happened but shimano cleats work great.

I have the same thing but its my left foot as thats the foot i unclip first. Im on my second set both have done it first set i warrantied as spring tension died on left foot as well…. ive now cut my losses and im now running shimano saint spds and they are perfect as expected with shimano. I did find that the dmr cleats caused a similer issue on them as well though but switching to shimano cleats cleared that up. Very disappionted with the dmrs

Ive just fitted one in my onza jackpot. Its now got a 66° headangle rather than 68°. Only 1 ride so far but seems to be a great improvement. Im going to give the bike a hammering at the bike park this weekend and put it through its paces properly.

Im exactly the same im 5″7 and find some mediums are too big and some smalls are too small . Currently i have a small (16″) cube xc hardtail and a 17″ onza hardcore hardtail and both fit me fine.

i think it depends on the manufacturer i wouldnt buy a 15.5 ” small frame or a 17.5″ medium frame as they wouldnt fit me. Reach is the most important thing i find, ive got pretty short arms so really long bikes feel wrong as i cant get my wieght back properly.

Tires and bike weight make a huge differance after fitness . Im much faster on my carbon cube xc bike with 2.2in xc tires and 100mm fork than i am on my steel hardcore hardtail with 2.5 in trail tires and 150mm fork . The xc bike wieghs 20ib though where as my steel hardcore hardtail is 31Ib with slacker geo. i still leave the cube at home most rides , i love my steel hardtail.

I can ride harder for longer on the cube and climb much better/faster but the steel bike is so much fun and better for downhill and jumping.

I made the mistake once of taking my hardcore hardtail on a xc group ride with some roadie buddies , next time im taking the xc bike as that was hard work lol

Both my bikes are 27.5 , im short and dont like 29ers

i would go with the BTR as its the bike you really want( i want one too ) . i used to have a banshee spitfire and before that i had a giant reign .Now i only have the steel Onza jackpot i built up a few months back ( a little lie i do have a carbon cube xc bike too but i always take the steel hardtail these days) and i love it more than any other bike i have owned , i dont miss the spitfire at all for my riding. yes i’m a little sore after rides but its worth it , good hardtails ride beautifully , keep you on your toes and i think make the ride more engaging.

Onza jackpot 150mm hardcore hardtail and cube reaction gtc carbon xc hardtail at the moment .i used to have a banshee spitfire ,but cant see me owning amother full suss in the near future . Kind of fancy a titanium hardcore hardtail next. I prefer the way hardtails ride

I think 2.6 but im not 100% on that. 2.5 fits my revelation but dont think i could go bigger.

Im running a 2.5 WTB breakout front and 2.4 trailboss rear on my hardcore hardtail (25mm internal dt swiss rims). Love this combo .i used to run hans dampf and rock razor on my old full suss and much prefer the WTB tyres . The bigger volume work so well on hardtails im actually starting to wish i had a 27.5+ fork so i could run larger.
