I have a swb 2007 vivaro with a window fitted in side door & a pair of seats permanently fixed so it seats 5, but loads of room for 4 people & 4 bikes. Great vans, I’ve owned it since 2010 but not used it since getting a company van 2 years ago. I’ll get around to selling it soon.

I’ve tried the Fox & madison ones. Both really bad, don’t hold off any splashes and feel colder than standard shorts.

Weeksy, I’ve just got back from doing whites climb, a little part of blade & the climb is in a lot better condition than it was a few months ago, just as long and steep tho ;)
    Penhydd is ok
    Wall very good.
    Whites very good.
    W2 excellent.
    Blade my preference.

Also the old skyline cafe is open and stay open late fri & Saturday nights

Ah, sorry I see. I need to arrange another trip to bmcc & revs soon.

Nobeerinthefridge, swapping revs for cwmcarn would keep you within the same area and save on a lot of driving.
I’m a regular at bpw, the new red trail nothing like all the other trails there, a muddy rutted trail. Really good.

Oh, and We also have natural trails everywhere, bpw in one direction, Afan another direction and cwmcarn the other way.

I’ve only ever lived in the valleys, in the village where the tv series Stella is filmed. There is little employment locally, but I’ve rarely been out of work since leaving School in 1996. Alway travelled between 40 mins – 1&1/2 hrs to building sites in surrounding cities. I’ve also always thought that areas I travel to to work are far rougher and the crimes more serious than I see at home.
The types found on this show do exist, and there is plenty of lazy people around, but good far outweigh the bad.

Good luck, great location and trails. Arranging a night ride next Wednesday after seeing your opening hours posted on fb this week. Gareth

I’m a regular at Afan/Glyncorrwg, the climb is the best I’ve ever done and even better backwards at night.
Did the blade last Sunday and really enjoyed, a few big puddles but that’s always expected in South Wales June-April

The cafe has reopened under the name cwtch cafe and have tonight posted that they have secured £25000 funding to buy kitchen equipment. Quite surprised they didn’t buy all skylines equipment when they were selling up.

There’s very little left there today

Went today for a breakfast roll. Imo far better cafe than bpw and the best climb of any trail centre I’ve been.
Shame to see the shop empty.
Good luck to the great staff.

1st ardrock for me, did the Saturday sprint. Absolutely brilliant weekend. 630 mile round trip, chain off twice, punctured once, 40th in masters.
The marshals, stalls and Friday street made a real festival feel which I’ve not experienced before at a mtb event. I shall return for the 6 stages next year.

I’m torn, hopefully not literally between a minion ss 2.3 or an onza ibex 2.5 for the rear.
Got both here waiting to fit either.

Was in the same position too, had to go for the jeffsy and really happy with it.
I’ve heard a few stories of people sending their fox shocks back to the Germans for recal, being without a bike for a few weeks when you can go direct to mojo wales and get it done in an hour if booked in and dropped off.

Called into a local stihl & husqvarna dealer today, looking to spend around £250-£300 on a stihl but was told a saw perfect for my Requitments was on sale from £210 to £171. A hisqvarna 135.
I usually go for the highest spec tools so Im hoping this will do everything I need.
Also picked up a pair of trousers, gloves, oil and a file and booked in for the next available sharpening course.

I stay at Ferndale. An old gold mine on the river, it is on the mbr trail which means you need a vehicle to go anywhere other than cyb.
It’s a large self catering house with bike store, log burner, loads of room and good rates.

Sorry neilnevill but I’m sure it’s needed.

Kuco, so is it better to go for a 15″ rather than a 14?

Stihl 181 14″ is looking favourable atm. I’m not in a rush to buy, but would like to get all equipment needed in the next few weeks.

Thanks for all the suggestions, being a carpenter I’ve used power tools all my life, but rarely a chain saw. I’m also buying the Trousers.
I did buy a second hand jonsered years ago, but it was a pig to start compared to my other petrol tools and the chain kept loosing tension.
I have also now just come across makita battery operated ones, I didn’t know they were available and I already have lots of batteries and chargers.

Done it a few times before, but wouldn’t again. It always ends up badly. Waiting outside their house when they’re running late and you got up on time. Can you just call in the shop? Ect.
I think if someone picked me up from my door, dropped me to work and returned me home, it would save me owning a van and around £4000 per year.

£35 per DAY for a family of 5 to park & ride at bpw now.

I find a.s is far more technical and dependant on the weather, but really efficient uplift. Bpw is a lot more comercalised but is great in all weather but slow uplift and very expensive for the location. I’d chose bpw everytime and eat in Merthyr.

If you do decide to just replace rings, I have a new set I was going to put on the classifieds tomorrow.

I’m 6ft on an xl Jef 29 with a shorter stem. I also have a 27.5 large transition patrol.
When i first got it I thought it was way too big but within 3 rides it just seems right and the patrol feels too small.
The transition hardly gets used now, although it feels easier/stronger through very fast rough sections, maybe down to the 36s compared to 34s or Ali to Carbon rims I don’t know? But over the full ride, for me the jeffsy is a better day out.
I’ve broken a Carbon wheel and a set of Carbon cranks but I sent them back to the uk distributiors and they were replaced very efficiently.
I use it in the steeper xc shock position as I mainly ride easy/fast trails such as bpw and Welsh trail centres but I’m sure it would cope with any trails.

I’ve only had a few minutes one, a Levo, absolutely loved it. I’ll be buying one in the next few years but not quite yet.

I’ve got a pair of red fox demo in 36, I’m usually a 34″ and they’re slightly too big. Worn them a few times but going to get rid and buy smaller.

I’ve also got the jeffsy 29, with 140mm I chose to ride this over my transition patrol with 160mm most of the time as I usually ride bikepark Wales and trail centres the jeffsy suits these more.
If I was buying another 650b I’d stugle to not chose the Capra. Seems a strange design to me.
