Lady Cannings is not a trail centre, just 2 (very fun) downhill trails and a fire road back to the top.

It is however on the edge of the Peak District so as much natural as you could ever want. How long do you want to be riding?

although find that hard to believe

Easily 40 – 50 seconds difference. There’s an uphill traverse!

Last year me and my mates all rode together and did the red chute. There was a few seconds difference between all our times.

This year they set off at 7:55 and did stage 1 in around 5 minutes. I set off in the last group (11:25) when it was taped off and managed a 5:52.

Would expect to see the new stage sandwiched between the old stage 4 and 5 although no idea where. Don’t recall seeing any obvious places to have it assuming the transition follows a similar path.

My guess is the fast fireroad section down to the road after the shove up to the shooting hut?

Gt did the same thing (or similar) with some later model I-Drives, didn’t they?

Santa Cruz definitely did with the later Bullit

This is the loop we do that takes in Lady Cannings and the aforementioned natural stuff. Takes 3ish hours depending on fitness.

Hooters is close to the train station.

Would depend if you valued “people” watching over a good beer and burger?

Only issue I’ve had with mine was getting tubeless tape to seal.

As they’re are 20mm internal I assumed 21mm Stan’s tape but could never get them to stop deflating and weeping sealant from the spoke holes. I ended up using 1″ gorilla tape (uncut) and using a tyre lever to press it under the rim hook and shape it into the bead.

I know a lot of people are sceptical about ordering from abroad.

Wont it be coming from bike-discount.de via DPD?

IMO as good as it gets for online bike shopping.

Another vote for the Vango Comfort 10 but would emphasise the large pack size.

Pretty sure you can change the colour of the route when you are reviewing the entire route on the map, but when you are actually following the route it defaults to purple which can be difficult to see. I’ve just tried it, changed the colour to bright green, but still get a purple trail to follow.

You can definitely do it. I’ll have a play around with mine tonight as I can’t remember exactly how.

My Garmin 800 may be particularly bad on this point as the trail defaults to a dull purple – there’s no way that I can see to change to florescent yellow or something more visible.

It’s easy – When you select the course you want to follow press the spanner icon.

    Orange Clockwork 100?

Modern geometry (longish, lowish, slackish) stealth routing etc. yet my 2017 has rack mounts so can fit my Topeak Babyseat on with a bit of a bodge.

I’ve just looked on the Mondraker website and it looks like the Foxy is different to the Dune???

Assuming it’s the same as a Dune it’ll be IS42/IS52

Almost pressed buy on the Raceface, until I realised it comes without the bladder. Starts to feel expensive at that point, for a vest with a pocket.

I’ve got the bibshort version and bought a bladder for £7 from Decathlon.

    https://www.decathlon.co.uk/1l-hydration-bladder-id_8300754.html

I haven’t tried the vest but would recommended the shorts. It can be an awkward job to get them on with a full bladder in but apart from that they were comfy for the duration of the Ard Rock and easily carried tool, tube and food.

Sonder Camino ti frame only for a grand would be my choice if I had wheels and a groupset going spare.

Frig that was tough, but I’m an outlaw!

Yup me too – 9hrs 56mins. Considering I was only supposed to be doing the 130 but decided to make the most of the nice weather I’m pretty pleased with that.

I’d recommend it to anyone but wouldn’t do it again, if that makes sense?

Assuming you don’t take a passenger you should get everything inside.

I’ve had eight 2400 x 600 t&g floorboards in a Partner Teepee by stacking them on the folded front passenger seat.

Any wider though and you’ll struggle to get 1st / 2nd gear.

I’d highly recommend one of these (if your an XS or XL as other sizes now sold out)

    Polaris Waterproof Jacket

I wore mine at Gisburn yesterday and whilst wet through from 2hrs of constant rain and wheel deep puddles never got cold.

To add insult to injury we also found out the lifts wouldn’t have been open for remainder of the trip and the £1100 airbnb has a 50% + service charge cancellation policy!

Just had the good news that the owner has agreed to move the dates back so we’ll be there when the lifts are open for no charge.

Losing £162.50 bothers me less than the thought of having to pedal from Bourg to Les Arcs for nine days!

I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that you can drop travel to 100mm on Revelations.

You certainly can. I’m running them on my Clockwork 29er.

After listening to Killers and Beast yesterday, I still rate this as the finest complete Maiden album; I say complete because there are arguably better individual tracks on other albums. However, as a complete aural experience, I still think it’s utterly brilliant. Experimental, boundary-pushing, story-telling, and some great metal rifts, not to mention Harris’ galloping bass lines and McBrain’s incredibly technical drumming. If I were to pick fault I’d say 7th Son and The Prophecy are the let-down tracks of the album, but otherwise – superb!*

I’m constantly being told to size up for ‘better reach’

But the point of this “new era of bike design/fit” is that you don’t have to size up. A medium has an adequately long top tube for you to not need the large and the issues that the longer seat tube may cause.

This is IMO the problem with the Capra – the large is too short, the XL too tall.

£2850 for last years Strive CF 9.0 and a decent holiday would be my choice.

I’m 6ft and 32″ legs and decided against a Capra due to the sizing. Had a go on a mates Large and it felt like the bars where in my lap. This was when they where first released so no XL. A shame as I’ve always thought they’ve been great value…the wife rides a CF comp.

I’ve ended up on a bike with 40mm more reach (longer than the YT XL) and it feels right.

Those thinking the frame only will be around £1600 like the frames are today, I think you’ll be off by ~£200 when the new pricing comes out. Factor in a shock upgrade, so you get a decent shock and it does become expensive.

The Alpine6 with an X2 is £2170 so no reason to think this won’t be the same.

Thought it was about time to start the Dirty 130 training and pretty much doubled this years mileage.

Got drenched 20mins from home. The National Cycle Route was surprisingly dry but I might leave the muddy bridleways until summer next time. Legs feel like they’ve done a road Imperial century!

My first real experience of straightpull was breaking a spoke in fort william and discovering there wasn’t a single straightpull in town.

At least Hope have the decency to include a couple of spares with their wheel builds, saying that I’ve only ever bought J’s.

It’s 11speed so mtb cassette isn’t an option.

SRAM do a PG1170 11-36 road (CX) cassette.
