Hi, well , a meter should never have been fitted to a joint supply.  I assume that the water company did that unless the supply was single at the point the meter was fitted.

Sub meter would be the easiest option but it still means that the water company bills you the full amount and you have to recover the sub metered usage yourself.

this is all subject to your water company t and c of course

    i would call them!

God this place has changed.  Allow me to be the first to say that I hate you!  I despise your independence, your financial security and your access to this opportunity.  Frankly, if you don’t take it I shall seriously consider hunting you down and applying the bombers in the approved manner.

Certainly aren’t any airbags in mine.

How a plastic part that’s suitable for use could fail in 3 1/2 years is beyond me……

Thanks all. Had the door card off and there is little access and almost zero on YouTube which is a first.  Popped to local independent VW specialist and is indeed the regulator. £200 fitted which pains me greatly but it doesn’t look like aomesometi can easily do and given that the genuine VW part is £105+vat it seems I’m going to have to suck it up…..

Thanks all.  Going to try to get the door card off and see what’s what.  I’d attempt to just close it by hand but there is zero window showing.

Hi, stick mini mail into eBay.  At a guess I’d say something like one of the 8ft Roger Coopers that are on there at the moment.  You could probably go shorter at your height/weight but if you’re only using occasionally you may want to give yourself an easier ride.

Other option would be to go full longboard route. Bit more pricey typically but you would catch a lot more of the typically smaller summer waves.

To the OP, I gambled on a Hisense because it was cheap for the spec. Don’t. Replaced after 2 months for a newer model (screen issue) and then replaced again after 1 month (similar screen issue) for an LG. LG has been faultless and a lot quicker around the EPG.

Re uhd – not exactly blown away no.  Some of the YouTube 4k stuff is impressive and maybe if an Xbox X turns up at Xmas I’ll change my mind but if i hadn’t been upgrading from 720p I prob wouldn’t have bothered.

Orbital – not doing it for me this time around.

Delighted to see/hear that Richard’s still completely mental.

As an aside, Richard happened to be mates with Mike P (u-ziq) who also happened to be at uni with one of my mates (Jega) and, by chance he turned up at an opening night in Manchester and proceeded to play a set the likes of which I’ve never experienced before or since.  Didn’t recognise a single track even though each selection was top notch.  Passed him a joint which at that point of my life (erm, 25 yrs ago) was possibly the most exciting thing that could ever have happened.

i spent a few weeks touring(read driving him from gig to gig) with Mike when he was supporting Orbital amongst other things and they (Orbital) were utterly brilliant.  Glasgow barrowlands when they “dropped” Belfast will never be forgotten.

I kinda feel bad for the One D, Little Mix generation tbh.  Even though we didn’t have the internet and our bikes were shit……….

Yep, lad at work got the mutt for his first bike.  Looked great until it went through a Brit winter.  Slow as anything mind with 12 hp max and a well built chap aboard.

Did my own. Relatively simple to get some sliding rails in there (with good spacers under the floor to distribute any unwanted forces) then got some minimus seats that’d fit and had integral seatbelts.  Honestly not that hard to do.  Appreciate that doesn’t answer the op but it’s another option.

That’s generous of you mate and, being local, I’ve been trying to figure how I could make them work. The sad truth, unfortunately, is that the stupid closed bars on my golf estate mean that all the other bits I’d need cost a small fortune.  Great of you to offer though!

Id have to echo the balance bike first recommendation based on my experience.  It’s not exactly scientific but:

Child 1 no balance bike. Proper bike with stabilisers and took ages for her to get the hang of “balance” once we took them off. Quite a lot of tears too.

Child 2 balance bike from 3 ish. Day one (actually more like 30 seconds) on proper bike and he’s off. No problems.

They rode on two wheels on the same day about 1 minute apart.  Child one had a nearly 2 year advantage.

Balance is much harder to master than pedalling.

Yes, years ago.  Longboard not bike though.  They can create a fair amount of lift but there’s no way it should have failed as it did.  Not gong especially quickly at the time, inside lane and just heard a massive crack/thud combination followed by the horrific sight of my beloved mctavish somersaulting down the m4.  Either the plastic socket through which the bolt fed had broken or the bolt had sheared and caused the socket to smash – impossible to tell after the event.  My fault for buying the cheapest ones I could find on eBay.  Thule every time since then – no issues.

Amazing fabrication again. Alright, it’s all a bit mad but the level of effort these guys go to is insane.  Especially when you look at how long it took to just get the front wipers done.  Can’t wait corn the next instalment now.

Happened that me. Fortunately mine attempted to prevent me working in any Finance based business throughout the UK so was unenforceable.  Had it said “you cannot work (in your current role) for Barclays brokerage dealing with the same clients you are currently working with/seeking to gain work from – it would have been a different story.  See advice specific to the circumstances.

Unfortunately the only Genesis available to me are the Core 20 and 30.  I actually did look at the 20 but they’re both out of stock until at least September.

    Kids = awesome

    Ditto balance bikes.

Whish I’d known about them when my daughter was little.  She and son had their first proper ride on the same day despite an age gap of 4 years. He had a balance bike, she did not.

Be as strong as you can be mate.  I can’t even begin to imagine what you’re going through and offer no advIce other than as previously stated “for the kids” be their rock if you can. You know you have all our moral support.  Scant consolation of course but it’s yours and, i suspect, whatever you need will be forthcoming.  My family is with yours – best wishes.

Depends how much room you have.  I went through 3 or 4 electric cool boxes before I just thought arse to it and bought an actual fridge. £70 or thereabouts and plenty big enough for 2 weeks in France.  Takes up a fair amount of boot mind.  You can go down the full on specialist camping fridges that run off mains, 12v and gas but iirc they were prohibitively expensive.  Some of the French sites hire fridges out.  Just remember that they have a French plug!

My lads 10 and mildly obsessed so maybe these will be overkill but:

Apex are the coolest and hence most expensive

then you’ve got Chilli, Envy (my boys choice), Phoenix, Lucky etc etc.  If you’ve a skate park near you they tend to have shops attached.  May be worth a trip.  Better make sure he’s into it before you commit though.  Anything considered half decent is north of £100.

    second hand an option?

Yep, daughter did her practice the weekend before last.  Tent, cooking apparatus (inc pots, plates etc) were provided.  Used:

    my rucksack

    mums waterproof over trousers

my sleeping mat and sleeping bag

3 dry bags (from home bargains at £3.50 each)

my sealskin waterproof cap (also v light for sun duties)

    my camelback (in said rucksack)

    a pair of “activewear” leggings.

    my compass

    purchased:

walking boots from mountain wharehouse (waterproof – briefly)

    some socks.

half decent waterproof jacket.  Go outdoors this time with her dofe discount

thats it.  Not as bad as I was expecting

Depends unfortunately. What car so you have? You could easily take up a good chunk of your boot with a large airbeam or steel piled tent.  Personally I’ve done cheap 4 man Tesco tent right the way up to rediculously huge Outwell Vermont XL.  Some Vango beast in between and a smaller (but still relatively huge) newer Outwell which we’re v happy with for the range of weather we can get in Wales etc.

Couple of essentials imo. Heater – surprising how much temp can dip at night in a tent.  Comfy camp chairs. Most are shit. Do not buy a crap airbed. It’ll go down. It’ll be cold. It’ll ruin your holiday. I love a carpet in the living area. Not exactly an essential but it’s nice to have.  Something to keep things (beer) cool If on an extended trip.

If you can get a tent with dark sleeping area you should.  Unless you like waking early in which case don’t bother.

I stuck an aerial in the loft for mucho cheapness.  Obviously it’ll depend on the signal strength where you are but consider it.  With Freeview and the on-demand it suits many but it does, of course, depend on what you want to watch.

Mostly it’s just the sports you miss out on. Let’s face it, the majority of “live” programming is utter guff anyway. Most the good stuff is available via Netflix or Amazon anyway.
