How far off the mark am i Brant

From what i can see Brant is going it alone. Are we going to see Brant badged frames.

He will have the financial & distribution backing of CRC and also be able to supply the frames through the lbs network rather thn from his shed at present.

So Brant gets to control the design and manufacturing but gets to use the clout of CRC to bring down the costs and increase his supply chain. He will probably get more of the profits as well.

Sounds to me like Brant is lookig at the current market and thinking this is a more stable propersition than On-One. Cant blame him but it does make me think that On-One wont be able to compete, and i suspect Brant feels that otherwise he would have done a similar thing under the present On-One setup.

Make sense or a load of bollox?

Guy has just returned from Paris for an awards doo.

£7 for burger & chips. £5 for a pint. Everything mega expensive. If you havent got the money to do stuff whats the point in going to paris.

None of the above is related to cost btw. More about honesty. Of course a local garage should be cheaper. BUT its worth giving them the oppertunity as they will usually meet you half way at least

Oh and this local garage over main dealership is a myth.

If a mechanic gets paid x at main dealer and then gets offered x+1 at local garage he moves there. Whats the difference? Oh the fact its a main dealer….. Well that doesnt make sense because a main dealer has a manufacturer making all the rules and also has a customer complaints dept that goes absolutely fin mental if a customer complains. The local garage can tell you to bugger off and you havent got much you can do other than cry to trading standards.

The manufacturers are right on the back of te dealer if they smell a rat. We had Merc on the phone because a customer complained his new van was revving hard at 70mph on the motorway today. That van is booked in next week for £3000 worth of new rear axle at DEALER COST because they said so.

Take off your rose tinted glasses and accept that there are crooks everywhere and just because a main dealer has flash premises, they probably work bloody hard to maintain it. They probably employ a hell of a lot more people than your pokey little back st garage and put more back into the local community.

    pmsl at Peregrine.

    What a crock of shite.

In ten years of working in the commercial motor trade and having car dealerships within our group, oh and the father in law who ran a Pug main dealer workshop for 40yrs i have never heard such a loooong tale.

Yes garages work the system. If a ehicle is under warranty i encourage the mechanics to find every single fault possible. It makes sense and looks after the customer. Yes some garges are crooks. But you make it sound rife and thats bollox. The manufacturers wouldnt put up with it, the customers arent as thick as you make out and if i saw it happen anywhere the mechanic would be sacked in seconds. I have heard stories of dealerships charging for work not carried out, yes i accept that, but what you describe would take a bloody cloak and dagger members only club. Other than the service manager and one or two others, most garage mechanics are as thick as two short planks once you take a spanner out of their hands. They couldnt understand the system, never mind bend it.

I havent had any BAD experiences. Just experiences.

I always let my wife know where i am riding and when i should approx finish, this includes solo nightrides in the lakes. Only prob i ever had was riding helvelyn last year on a glorious summers day. On the descent back down to grizedale tarn i somehow took the walkers path down to the right (Havent got the name). I only realised i went wrong about 3/4 of the way down. It was the same great big steps as the correct path. Anyhow i worked out i could traverse across for 2mls to save me the hike back up. I must have been halucinating because that 2 mile included a 900ft drop into a cravass and then a 900ft hike back up in long grass. It took me over 2hrs to walk them 2 mls, then i had to complete the ride. I had given a pal my estimated finish time. I had to blast back to the car, then drive for a further 30mins to get phone coverage to call him. I was over 1hr past the time he should have been calling mountain rescue. I called him and asked if he had reported me. His reply was that he had forgotten about me, whoops!

Seems that most of the suggestions hint at limiting the attention the child gets and hard work, which tbh has worked for my family. We have (Other than the usual changes like holidays and illness) had 7pm to 6.30am since both kids were 6wks old. I put this down to bloody good advice from the midwife, bloody mindedness from me and my wife (If you arent both 100% it undermines everything) and luck.

One other thing we make a rule is that unless its for a damned good reason, there are no changes to bed at 7pm. Doesnt matter if its their birthday, whatever, 7pm is the time they go to bed. I have seen me ask his friends to go home or our friends to leave as they have their kids with them because i know the disruption it causes. The benefit is we always have a calm bed time. My 20mth old daughter walks herself upto her bed, climbs in, gets a kiss goodnight and goes to sleep herself with a smile on her face.
