Ride Journal and Privateer cant really be compared to MBR or Singletrack as they are massively different in both content and quality.

Per article 8 or 9 pounds probably represents better value. Not that im about to go and count how many articles are in each publication !

If you need to be told what to ride then the latter is probably best.

If your not that bothered about the latest fandango kit but your interested in how it got there or by who then ‘magazines’ like Ride and PVT are more interesting.

Thats only my opinion tho and counts for very little !

I found my 705 was fine then once updated it wouldn’t connect !

So i plugged it in to charge it with the wall charger next time i tried all working fine.

I had a similar thing with an ipod nano did the same thing and that worked too.

Have you googled Frank Kinlan he seems to be up to speed on garmin

3m crossweave tape off of eBay 25mm 25 Mtrs for about 2.50 delivered !

    Only use genuine 3m

Use the proper valves with removeable cores as it makes inflating so much easier.

    Go for a ride

As the highway code stated ( I’ve no idea if it still does)
Stopping distances increase with speed and in the wet
    Now that is a fact

Enjoy your Road bike and when the trails dry out a bit amd the days get longer you’ll find your a lot stronger for it.

Also I can now report back to QoS that boys also struggle to adapt to drops so thanks for that :-)

Taz just for the record if I only had one bike especially Singulars(I’ve got a few ! )
The Gryphon definately rules them all and it’s the one I would keep for doing everything very well.
Hydro drops are currently off having a winter rebuild and remodel as they need finishing.
However to prove the versatility of the Gryph it’s currently running J Bars and it’s absolutely fantastic like that too.

    :-)

I have been riding the area for a long time in my experience the best bits are short lived but fun.
Linking stuff together with quiet country lanes bridles and a bit of cheek is probably best.
I am now based in S Glos where it’s a similar story so for local riding your going to find yourself doing that kind of thing.
Although at this time of year a cross bike and mud shoes are probably best !
I think the best riding locally is around Wotton or the FoD.

Ed i hope you going to pick the smoothest line as i will be sneaking in behind you sheltering from the wind :-)

as far as i can see although the pro’s will have to face the 3 lap finishing circuit it doesnt look like we will have to

I’d be up around the 8 to 10 thousand mile mark at a guess although I can’t account for exactly how each mile was earnt other than being on two wheels.
    Road
    SS MtB
    Dark
    Windy
    Raining
    Sunny on occasions
Tandem (some say only the captains miles count )
I definately ride more than I drive tho :-)

It’s always risky assuming the rider in front will so what you wish they so often don’t.

I have never run a tubeless ust type tyre with any stans set up nor have i had any problems.

If you have ordered a kit your halfway there as the genuine rim strip is so far and away better than the split inner tube method.

Biggest problem most people have is they don’t build the centre rim bed up high enough which means the tyre is a sloppy fit and without a compressor you will have little chance of getting enough air into the tyre to seat it onto the bead you want the bead near the centre of the rim to be almost so tight that you cant turn the tyre.

Dont worry as once youve inflated it the tape etc wil be pushed into place by the air and the next install will be far easier

The genuine rim strip also has an extra bead which when the tyre is seated gives a really tight rim seal.

Most of the things i read about tubeless not working are mainly down to the cheap and not so cheerful method !

The right kit for the right job springs to mind :-)

Well done I have had similar experience from a particulary unpleasant short fat bald middle aged dog walker on a cycle track
When I stopped and rode back to him after his verbal he was being a complete **** and threatened to push me off my bike if he saw me riding ‘here’ again !
I retorted that just because he was short fat and bald don’t take it out on me and if he pushed me off my bike he would be f#*!!!!!g wearing it.
Although to be honest ain’t worth getting killed over take the high ground ride on and be the better person

    Hopefully :-)

Larger diameter discs will reduce the leverage effort effect from the wheel.
If the caliper and master cylinder still have enough reserve force available.
The available grip is a factor a larger disc will cause lock up to occur in low friction circumstances.

In a word yes to a point don’t upspec too much without matching calipers and master cylinders or there will be problems

That’s just what I was going to say like Stu

I’ve only had singulars and I would say a gryphon works in all the areas you have listed.
Am just about to try the gryphon with J bars as the hydro drops need a service and my mates still got my swift !
He is (was) not into rigid 29er or ss usually riding a trek full sus.
But seems to always be using the swift and it doesn’t look like it’s coming home for a bit hope that kinda says something.
New gryphons also have rack mounts.

Good decision to wait I rekon

We went through just about all the entry level road bikes we could find whilst looking with my wife.
I found the specs on most womens versions was lower than the mens at the same price.

The giant came out bottom the spesh is quite well specced as is the cube but we luckily found an eddy merkcx amx-1 that not only fitted the best but had the best spec even down to 165 cranks etc ……..

Ridley also do a nice bike too I can recommend Echelon Cycles in Pershore as being very helpful.

Singular gryphon will do everything your looking for.

I have used mine with racks, various tyre comb’os and with cross tyres too it is the do everything bike that does everything brilliantly.

ebb is solid and trouble free.

    I thought

A bigger wheel has a larger radius.

The transition is smoother to the contact patch comes at less of an angle relative to a smaller diameter.

This in turn causes less friction.

    This means that

Wheel turns slower relative to a small wheel at the same road speed.

Tyre is moving slower so to displace the dog poo you need to go faster on a 29er to get the wheel turning at the same road speed as a 26

There is more tyre on a 29er giving more space for dog poo to be stored

It takes longer for the tyre to recontact the ground meaning there is more space to pick up poo

What this tell’s me is there is too much misinformation out there on 29er’s and most of it’s Poo :-)

Did a lap with ssjeff and it was fun pretty fast singletrack with enough space to get past if you looked for it and were clear in asking to get past. Not like the nob who was shouting to pass us on his geared full sus who we let past only to then get held up after his little burst of energy ran out then wouldn’t move over for us! So just waited till the wide gravel climb and did him there instead :-)

What a shame to hear that hopefully someone was just a bit tired and they will man up and apologise
I thought to start with it sounded just like that bloke from the shop nearest to your work ;-) he is a right misery

I would recomend Webbs of Warmley owned run and spannered all by the main man Si for stuff like that and anything else.

Try an extra layer of tape in the well of the rim for easier inflation

Not sure about the strength of the sidewalls for tubelessing x tyres it’s definately a big no no for road tyres interested to hear how it goes

I did use the 1.9 Michelin AcX tyres for on and off road use with about 50 psi they rolled along great just let some out for off road rides

Road bikes are easier to climb faster on than mtb’s

Most (not all ) mtb riders I see change down far too easily rather than pushing on a harder gear building strength and power.

If you want to climb stronger/faster
    Climb lots of hills
    Get lighter
If you don’t want a road bike get a ss mtb

    Easy :-)

    Sorry for the late reply

From a brief glance I would say yes the thing that I really noticed was the gold stancions and I thought they were triples
The bike also looked in excellent condition

To the original question yes I do since about 2007 not that it makes me qualified to answer you’ll understand

I’m not over 5’10” and it’s no problem on sizing so that’s an outdated argument for me

Maybe big brand bandwagon 29er’s are not that good ? it’s probably better to try something from a specialist 29er outfit who understand biking rather than marketing

Oh and I regularly see niche brand bikes having the wheels ridden off them :-))
