You can park outside of Bourg D’Osains in Rochatallie.
Look on google Earth and you will see a track running alongside the river which is a cycle track this turns into a small Tarmac road which pops you out right at the foot of the Alpe’
When we were last there it didn’t get that busy at all (on the way in or out)

Didnt want to turn this into a what tyres for………………..

But most of the trails are similar to HoNC when they are bedrock but i thought about using my cross bike but its a fair bit rougher than HoNC and there is some nice descents which i think will be more fun on a (real bike)

Went out last night very close to but not on the course and the local trails by me have held up very well after the downpours this week but its been dry all yesterday afternoon until now.

So there might be some muddy bits but i certainly wouldnt run a mud tyre.

See you all Saturday i’ll be the one with the insanely skinny legs in a Fat Bike sandwich :D

QoS has a Kona Explosif 14″ and she is 5″1 and there is plenty of seatpost sticking out and it has a very sloped top tube.
As an aside its hardly been ridden as she now rides the road so it might be for sale ?

If your going to do all the climbs on the friday then why do the ride Saturday ? Maybe do Koppenberg/Patteberg and Kwaremont on friday while there fairly quiet and you have a fair chance of seeing the pro’s training too……
You will come back and question how UK sportive organisers charge so much for there events tho as the RVV is well organised and cheap !

On Burlington and Corsham that’s where we grew up and played as kids.
Throwing stuff into the massive ventilation fans and finding NBC suits and other stuff left lying around on the base above ground.
Looking at the vehicles and generally messing around ( on bikes)
The MOD blocked all that off about 20 years ago but did put in a nice byway cutting across part of the area.
The road up to one of the entrances is very wide and rumoured to be a landing site for light aircraft.
When I go up there I always still ride around bits of it.

Also on the Swedish half lane thing that’s quite normal. I think it’s the 45 to Karlstad that has a proper Runway in the forest type road wich just opens up and goes dead straight for miles.

Here’s a possibly interesting point of fact.

For SSEC2010 The KoN actually had to join the BCF to get over the red tape as Charlie has suggested (other orgfanisations are available)
The TLI bottled out when they heard it was a European event.
On the day of the event all you lucky people had those little round stickers.
These actually confirmed you had paid up and were associated members of the KoN for the day of the event and you were insured with the BCF levy.

I did read somewhere once that sooner or later SS champs would be decided over the internet !

Events have to evolve or people will just stop coming.

So bring on SSUK 2013 sounds like fun

I heard he hates nettle rash unless its on his bottom ……bracket !

Although i don’t remember there being a nettle epedemic last year ?

I haven’t been out over the course but the trails within 5 miles are holding up very well and its rockier over there so i reckon it will be fine

Yes you can that’s my Gryphon with the rack.

Fairly straight forward i used a seat collar adaptor.

And a longer caliper bolt and ally spacer on the left and a clamp on the right hand side by the drop out.

But your doing it on your own call, Sam was happy for me to do it as I’m an engineer but he didn’t think most people would want to do it my way ?

Gryphon on drops or flats is also an excellent choice.
Pegasus just fantastic like a Swift only lighter and quicker.
And I can say that from experience :-)

Me I have been for years I quite enjoy the roads around the Severn area.

I can’t be arsed with all that bike and kit cleaning of winter mtb night rides.

I do like the dirty country lanes to add a bit of interest to nightime road riding I don’t think riding in a big group would be very easy tho ?

Come to think of it with my long loop to work most mornings in the dark and an extended evening ride some evenings this winter I’ve done quite a few miles in the dark.
