I’d like like to acknowledge chrispo’s victory in the annual “Trolling knob of the year” competition, great work, it’s been settled on the first day.

My parents had me vaccinated for everything that they could. I’m now 66,and the only major infectious diseases I have had are mumps at age 5,and two goes at chickenpox. Not sure if I have any problems due to the mumps, but I have had two outbreaks of shingles as an adult, and I really wish there had been a vaccine available ,I found shingles very painful. My children have had every vaccination available on the NHS.

If you were using all the travel on the Pivot, you may well be doing more than just crosscountry, so your choice is more understandable, please accept my apologies.

Is your seat height lower than it used to be ? I got patellar tendinosis with this,3 months of decline squats before I was pain free.People occasionally tell me my saddle is too high, and look worried when I laugh. This is worth a read https://www.cyclingweekly.com/fitness/cycling-knee-pain-everything-you-need-to-know-329957 .

If Palliative Care are involved, they will investigate what happened, identify causes, and institute a plan to prevent recurrence, usually involves updating the home’s staff as to correct procedure, and liaising with GPs and pharmacists to ensure local policies with regard to prescription and administration of controlled drugs is followed. If no direct harm has come to your relative , it is usually treated as a learning and supervision ,opportunity, not a witch hunt.

Will be eating Mrs Dingo’s signature roast aubergine slices topped with Bolognese sauce and cheese, drinking a very pleasant NZ sauvignon blanc, and not listening to anything, cos the grandson has just gone to bed, so watching the snooker on mute.

Basically, I’m 65, I’m trying to improve stamina ,rather than speed. I’m doing about 75 miles a week, mostly on the trans-pennine trail, with no technical riding at the minute (not much available locally),having had a small stroke 10 years ago, a serum cholesterol which reached double figures, and a cardiac angiogram showing narrowing of the cardiac arteries 7 years ago, I’m very wary about overdoing things. I’ve done Polarises and mountain bike orienteering in the past, but not for years, and I worry about overtraining causing more problems, so was pleased MHR was so high. Since I started riding again, my cholesterol and BP are within normal limits,so something is working.

It’s the first time I’ve done it, I was knackered and short of breath, but no chest pain etc. When I started on the flat bit at the top, my heart rate quickly dropped below 140.

jamj1974 “I think stating the forum “turned against him” is a bit extreme… It didn’t, really did it Cougar.

Also the rest of that message is just a little harsh. Intimating someone is a liar – as you did in your last sentence is out of order IMHO”

I am asking because I looked at Sunrace cassettes first, they use an adapter for XD,which gets some stick in the reviews, and I don’t want to waste £150 on a cassette which doesn’t fit, so I’m looking for reassurance really.

Oh good,it’s got an axle that tightens into place, and holds it secure while riding,a DT Swiss RWS system, which tightens to 15nm,so I assume that’s OK.

I’ve put it back on and the wheel rotates ok, but the cassette just isn’t secured to the hub ,other than by the axle,it just seems wrong to me.I’m probably just too old now .

I think so,there is a circular thing that fell off too,it sits under the cassette and is part of the freewheel system.

Same here,I have to take my wheels off to store my bike, every time I put the rear wheel back in,I get my hands dirty making sure the chain is on the jockeys properly,or the noise is terrible,it also happens while riding along, seriously thinking about putting the Sram ones back on.
