I’ve always tried to live by the saying…….

Then you have to argue with the on the street opticians so they’ll give you your dispensing details. It’s ridiculous

Why would it be rediculous when its ‘dispensing’ information which forms part of the cost of glasses not clinical info covered by the site test.

Wonder how many elements of your job are given out for ‘free’ as its ‘ridiculous’to pay for it?.

Also as mentioned above when prescriptions become complex (above 6 generally) horizontal and vertical placement of the lens becomes critical so aren’t really something you should be trying to order online as the fit of the frame in relation to your eyes needs to be taken into account and measured accordingly.

Might well be in the wrong job full refund only applies within a ‘resonable timescale’ a term which has never been tested in law so is open to interpretation by both the consumer and retailer and can cause conflict in the definition of ‘reasonable’ (obviously this differs from product to product).

He is correct about the 2 years (EU lwaw) which is actually a weaker version of our own law as linked above, hich everf way you are entitled to either repair or replacement BUT form the retailer not the manufacurer.

OP forget the internet advice go and see a good optician, indipendant multiple, whoever you are happy with, have a chat to the optometrist about what you want to use the lenses for and what was wrong last time you tried, after they have had a good look at your eyes and possibly done some trials they should then be able to advise the best alternatives for you, any other advice on here (otherthan the mudguards bit) is useless.

For these types of dog 5 mins per month of age is recommended for walking/running exercise per day until they are grown, anymore and you risk the above mentioned joint problems, just because he is ‘capable’ of alot more doesn’t actually mean its good for him.

If it’s a rented property then surely the onus is on you as a tenant to do “nothing whatsoever,” no? It must be the landlord’s responsibility to ensure that reasonable access is available and people aren’t being discriminated against?

Depends on the lease if its a maintaining lease then its on the renter not the landlord, apathy is no excuse there are actually disabled people going around making a killing from this threatening legal action if access isn’t up to scratch, and then selttling ‘out of court’ read taking a bribe to go away……

DDA states unless the building is subject to any kind of preservation order then disabled access MUST be inplace.

Since December 1996 – it has been unlawful for service providers to treat disabled people less favourably for a reason related to their disability
Since October 1999 – providers have to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people such as providing extra help or making changes to the way they provide their services
From October 2004 – requires service providers to assess obstacles and make reasonable adjustments to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access.

I little section of the act which covers it

The above for sale the track could be used with digital, but the cars and other accessories cant

Existing track will work with digital cars and controller so mix and match is no problem, the more ‘cross over’ sections you can have the better as it enables more overtaking. So its worth getting a decent sized digital set for the controllers and digital cars) and then adding your own track in.

miracoil is basically the whole spring system is made from one piece of metal and therfore supposed to give better support

I’m afraid with beds it really is try b4 you buy as all are different dont believe any of the orthopaedic guff it has no basis in fact (was dream’t up by some sales person and the industry ran with it) what you actually want/need is a matress that supports you in all you places that touch the bed when at rest/sleeping. there re 4 general types of bed traditional spring, silint nights miracoil, pocket sprung and memory foam, as the foam is out for reasons stated then either pocket or miracoil are the next best options with pockets as many pockets as possible as the support mentioned above is better (pocket is prob my favourite type) with the miracoil its down to the amount of comfort layers.

this is all from my previous incarnation working for MFI when they were one of the biggest bed retailers in the country

How much cheaper are they compare to Zeiss?

This is an impossible question to answer, to many variables

1 All opticians set their own price on the lens
2 What level of thinning is wanted on the lens
3 What prescription is the lens
4 What coating is on the lens
5 Is it a transition if so what type?

All of the above an affect the lens cost so price is not really ‘fixed’.

As a further endorsement essilors crizal coating is widely regarded to be the best in the business too.

OP the optom that does the assessment should advise you of the best lens for you, depending on your eyes your expected wear pattern the ‘best’ could be either daily disposables or extended wear, for this one take the advice of the optom not the internet.

I’ll happily say Essilor against any lens, for price against quality i dont think they can be beat and we deal with shamir nikon american optical zeiss and a few others including some manufacturers own, we have certain patients who wear a certain lens as they like it and a few others in either tailor made or specific use lenses. Some patients are more budget oriented so these will chose an inferior lens for that reason. For those that follow our advice where budget isn’t an issue (Wife has been qualified over 25 years)then generally the physio is what we’d go for.

This is about the best image i could find for showing how varifocals ‘good’area of vision can vary by lens, the multi poing focal mentioned above……..all vari’s have it hence the vari, the trick is one having them set up properly and 2 using them correctly.

I’m fortunate I dont need a vari as yet but have access to pretty much any lens I want, for me it would be an Essilor Physio

Re the thickness for a shortsighted person there is a british standard for the mimimum thickness of a lens center, the motr important is the edge thickness

It took 5 days to refund our credit card

Controlled by banks not John Lewis

They told us they had stock and took our money. About a week later they told us they couldn’t find any stock and cancelled the order

Not the best but as soon as they knew they offered a refund, not that bad IMHO. At least you didn’t book and then cancel the leccie and then clainm his fees eh?

Sunday delivery, so my guess it wasn’t a days annual leave just an inconvenience, wonder what the OP will pay the sparkie for his ‘inconvenience of losing half a days pay when he should have been fitting an oven?

    thehustler
    Free Member

What would a normal cancellation fee be? I think around £50 is fair for the trouble caused and if that’s about the same as an electricians cancellation fee then why not use that. Perhaps not 100% honest but I think it’s fair.

And will any of this find its way to cancelled sparke………I doubt it so the important words here are Perhaps not 100% honest not I think it’s fair

Currys saying they except responsibility and that they will compensate us for the cancellation fee from the spark. Question is, how much would be reasonable to ask for?

….implies he’s wondering what he should say for how much the sparkie cost

    thehustler

I am not an internet nerd, but have spent most of my working life working in retail for one reason or another, and believe it is right to pay compensation when a loss has been incurred (we’ve paid for a customers flights from Germany b4 now as our supplier lost their property). What I donrt agree with is a shyster who says he’s had to pay a sparkie claiming compo for it and then pocketing said cash himself, in this scenario I’d gladly refind and let said shyster shop elsewhere…….

    thehustler

But as said you have not actually suffered any financial loss so what are you claiming for Cracks in the toys thrown out of the pram maybe)?

    thehustler

What was the cancellation fee you paid? That would be a fair amount,if you didn’t pay one imho your taking the P yourself and really are worse than curries…..
