If you wear varifocals, does the acclimatisation mean you struggle without them or with just reading glasses?

Its not a case of struggle, its just you realise what you cant see when not wearing them, which ‘irks’ some people.

I would suggest getting some cheap Specsavers ones to start with

Dont do this they are generally the cheapest and crapiest lens with most distortion and if you cant get on with them are more likely to turn you away from v/f’s in total, get the ones either advised or best you can afford, with most decent lenses they run a scheme where if you cant tolerate the v/f they will replace it with a single vision (distnce or near as your prefer/need) as part of the cost

That said a fighty club where you train hard at a genuinely applicable skillset, among friends aiming to get better together, where you all risk hurt but don’t try to hurt (too much), that can be a very worthwhile head space to be in.

    This +100

Some of the guys from my ‘home’ club are still some of my strongest and best friends, something about training and fighting together brings you closer. When we are ‘messing around some of the things we do to each other would make most people cringe

For the ‘mental’ side its generally associated with the more traditional martial arts, having said this most combat sports where you have ‘full contact’ the mental side is a byproduct as you will notice your ‘reaction times’etc will improve

the background of the trainer is very important

Not strictly true. In Judo I used to train with the best in the country, some of them have gone on to coaching and IMHO are not very good at it, others I know who weren’t at the same ‘fighting’ standard have made much better coaches by being able to teach and articulate better, physical prowess doesnt breed coaching prowess

IMHO dont try orpering vari’s online, the position of lens in relation to your eye is a lot more critical than single vision lenses so best measured properly.

Why is that hustler ? No complaints from my optician….

1 they are much thinner than a mothly so can rip more easily
2 the oxygen content on most decent monhlies is much better
3 dalies dont alow as much oxygen to the eye therefore creating a greater risk of corneal problems including corneal ulcers which quite often lead to blindness

FFS you only get one set of eyes is it really worth the risk for a few quid………

Buy dailies but put them in solutions each night. Get 18 – 20 days from a set and my eyes are healthy…

This has got to be THE most stupid thing I have ever seen written on this forum PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ignore this……

Hora the hydration ‘could’ affect the amount you see ie less than 20:20 vision, however it would be unlikely (as your optom said) to affect the actual prescription which is based on the curvature of the lense on the front of your eye

Did you get them from an opticians or order online for the prescription. I’m after some prescription ones but refuse to pay silly money in a high street retail store.

We own the opticians and they are still expensive at what i can buy them for…….

Polycarbonate is a cap material for spectacle lenses. You can’t beat glass from the likes of Rayban and Maui Jim. Optically better. Main problem is its no good really for sports sunglasses with the risk of breaking.

T666DOM the ones i linked above are a maui sport frame and really are the dogs…….If you look really close on the pic there is actually a bar that runs behind the lens on the top edge of the frame which provides rigidity to the overall set up and reduces the risk of breakage associated with most rimless

These are my current favourites have them as prescription, been 50mph+ on the road bike in them with no issues of watery eyes from the wind, ski’d in them and been to very hot countries cant fault them really

The best sunglass bar non atm is Maui Jim, there patented lens tech is miles ahead of the competition atm………problem is they know this so you pay for the privelidge

with regard to others it can be a case of you get what you pay for not in the colour per se but in the quality of optics of the lens, just always make sure they give full UVA/UVB and if possible UVC resistance to give your eyes best protection

Glad shes ok but to start a topic ‘can we get any money out of this situation’ was the wrong angle. Shouldn’t it have been ‘had an accident- can the driver be prosecuted’ I might feel warmer to your situation.
    What?

Basically I agree with Hora (cant believe I said that)the OP’s original thread reads can i claim off a driver for my wife cycling out from behind a hedge into the road.

We all hope mrs MTQG is alright but to even look for an opportunity in so clear a cut case is pretty low, unless Mr MTQG is looking more from the angle ‘does the car driver have the right to sue us for damages to their vehicle’ in which case i would think they have a pretty fair case

TBF if your wife came off that path in front of a car travelling along new road where there are no road markings traffic sinage to give right of way to the path then your wife is at fault not what you want to hear but its the way it is, the fact the path is 20′ and not 200′ from another junction is not applicable.

Also guessing the car was on the correct sideof the road and your wife got infront of it without being able to stop it really shows she was travelling too fast herself, I cant see any way the driver would be at fault here

Not quite a pie chart but this should cover it

    Sport Sunglass Lens Tint Guide

    Colors Uses

    yellow lenses and orange lenses

Yellow or orange Heightens contrast in overcast, hazy, low-light conditions outdoors or for indoor sports. Filters blue light for sharper focus.

Sports: cycling, hunting, shooting, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, indoor basketball, handball, racquetball, tennis.

amber lenses, rose lenses and red lenses

Amber, rose or red Heightens contrast in partly cloudy and sunny conditions, but causes significant color imbalances.

Sports: cycling, fishing (amber lenses for sandy lake or stream beds), hunting, shooting, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, water sports.

dark amber lenses, copper lenses and brown lenses

Dark amber, copper or brown (Includes melanin lenses.) Blocks high amounts of blue light to heighten contrast and visual acuity. Particularly useful to improve contrast on grass and against blue skies.

Sports: baseball, cycling, fishing (especially in waters with grassy bottoms), golf, hunting, skiing, water sports.

    green lenses

Green Heightens contrast (mildly) while preserving color balance.

    Sports: baseball, golf.

    gray lenses

Gray Reduces overall brightness while preserving 100 percent normal color recognition.

Sports: all outdoor sports in bright light conditions.

For glare getting an MAR coating on your lenses will help

Carefull on the transition if you want to use it for driving, in general they dont work in cars (windscreen has a uv filter in it) however there is a version that does work (aprox half as dark as in direct light) but this is only available as a grey lens

Remember that the hustler is an optician so knows his stuff

Thats not me thats the wife, I just do all the tech stuff with lenses etc

    thehustler

Yellow is the tint of choice for professional drivers/pilots shooters etc for the reasons stated above so for pure function yellow works best as to style thats a personal choice

    thehustler
    Free Member

Actually for low light the brown would work better as it has what is known as a ‘blue blocker’ effect which will actually accentuate greens and reds (’tis why driving/shooting glasses tent to have a yellow tint it has the same effect)

I also think the brown lens looks better in the frame 🙂

standard is at approx 400mm but should be fine at 500 as long as you use a thick deck board rather than cheap thin ones

just done the math very quickly and your joists assuming 50mm thick will be 411.5mm center to center (remember first center is 25mm in from each end)
