IMHO think yourselves lucky its a pay freeze, Opticians haven’t had a rais in the NHS test fee for more than 5 years and have just been told they wont be getting one this year!

I work at manchester airport and we’ve just been told we are getting a 10% pay cut for the next twelve months!!

    Pay freeze……..I’d love one !!

So Emirates have today said they wont be restating scheduled flights until atleast July, I think they will be one of the first airlines to restart so ATM I’d say its getting less likely than more at the moment.

In all honesty it depends how long it goes on for, we own an independant opticians and can survive for maybe 3-4 months, but we are not allowed to test eyes atm so our only income is emergency NHS triage stuff, our contact lens sales (go out at virtually the same cost as we buy them so no real plus there) and any sales due to people breaking glasses, not alot of them either….after that if we are not back up and running there will bwe no business to pay ‘furlough’ wages…..which apparently may not be in place by the end of this month so we will have to stump up that money too and then see how long it takes to get back…..

depending on what you want ……processor gfx card……..ram, take a look at the Medion Erazer range, typing this on their X7853, and when I got it last year it was by far the best spec available at its price point.

Alot of bad info above, it is possible to put a radiaor linked to your main heating system in a conservatory, there is a but though…..If a conservatory can be classes as ‘stand alone’ ie independant heating it is not subject to building regs, as soon as you link it to the main system themn it then becomes subject to building regs and all this brings with it.

    Even £25 is pretty high

erm….no……depending on prescripion/lens type prices can vary alot!

Re above the one lens near one distance your optom will rightly be nervous about with biking as you lose your binocular depth perception.

Cant emphasise enough go on martin lewis site get the letter templates and do it yourself, the ‘claim’ companies get 20% for basically doing nothing!! (had over 30k back by doing it ourselves!!)

HMRC, the organisation that threatened to take me to court for a VAT bill of 0……(we’d bought new equiptment for our shop) having just been sent a £200 vat refund……phoned to explain their error……which they agreed, so asked if this was the end of it……no we would need to write to them or they would still take us to court…….my respose……see you there, looking forward to it!!

Don’t understand why the Boots optician recommended a more expensive pair of glasses?

Because a computer (intermediate) and reading (near) prescription will be different, so the OP could either have a full varifocal of distance/inter/near or an occupational varifocal inter/near

Varifocals…..online…..two words that shouldn’t be used in the same sentence…….

Well that may be the case in Oxfordshire but in our area we would triage to try to find the cause so that referral to the right specialist is done as soon as (Owner of an opticians that provides this service!)

If this happened in UK, it’s straight to eye hospital A&E. Do not mess with doctors or opticians.

….Who would refer you to an opticians who do most NHS triage work for eyes as the equiptment in most opticians is far better than that in hospitals…..

For the OP definaely visit the opticians asap, there are some things wher this could be something simple/inocuous, but there are also things where it could be more sinister, better to be safe than sorry….

From the other side of the coin I used to work for howdens as a kitchen designer, basically Howdens want to make a profit mark up of x% on the deal, individual prices aren’t really important so in some ivoices you might get variations to achieve the margin, as long as th guys you deal with on a regular basis know this then there was never a problem.

You can prescription glaze most things some people wont do certain frames as the lens outcome is not great if its a large lens with a high base curve. if you can tell me what model oakley and your RX I can give you more of an idea if its worth it

erm the notice is dated 27/2 for an offence on 19/2 well within the 14 days…….so proving it took over the 14 could be difficult unless postmarked…..I would still be asking for a copy of the evidence though.

Run this one by them, there are 10 in the team1, min hols 5 weeks 1day including stats, 10×26= 260 days needed for hols but only 261 days max in a year to take hols so if this has been intrduced part way thru a year not enough weeks in the year for everyone to take their hols………denying people their statutory hols is illigal

Firstly I’ve been around here in one form or another since the very early days of this forum, and over that time it has changed massively from a small group of like minded bike enthusiasts to the huge monster that i is today.

Secondly, I think the mods do a fantastic job of ‘policing’ the site and wouldn’t want their job for all the tea in China.

However as with all things as the site grows inevitably so does the cross section of society, and within this you will get elements that feel the ‘need’ to be controversial either sexually, racially, politically or some other …..ally…. And along with thids there is a need to ‘sensationalise’ their views ie need to be heard (often to mask their own problems and insecurities).

Now the mods are never going to catch all of these so sometimes people need to just let their comments pass you by……..The best thing you can do is completely ignore their comments as penny to a pound they are trying to incite responses and by not getting them irks and annoys them far more than anyone else……

, I just transferred across the sizing, etc from my monthly lens prescription!

Another CL wearer who is a law unto their self, unbelievably silly thing to do before ‘trying’ any lenses you should have them fitted and checked by an optician!! So they are a ‘bit inconvenient’ now…..lose your site wonder how inconvenient that woud be!!
