I’m pretty sure I saw an ad in one of the Mags that Verbier was open til mid-October. Could be wrong – so check it out

Just got a Hone Crankset with 175mm cranks…lets hope that 180mm fork does lift the BB a bit then…

and btw – the local farmers in my part of the Alps do this to discourage the motocross/enduro/dirt bikes bikes but again, these are PUBLIC trails for EVERYONE on PRIVATE land

If you can’t get over it on your bike, get off and climb over it or go ’round it – that’s the beauty of a mountain bike. What’s the big deal?

    And people..be a bit more considerate – you don’t own the trails…

…and since when are ‘quick’ and ‘decent’ the same thing? You sound like a useless rider but are obviously ‘quick’ (reads:out of control)…go figure 😕

I guess everyone here who rides well-known trails fast must be idiots then, as when you come round a corner and there is an obstacle that should not be there you would rarely have time to stop if you’re anything of a decent/quick rider! This forum is full of moronic replies!

glasgowdan – what if that ‘obstacle’ is a child!? There are indeed some morons on here…

Shimano Tech Docs – Disc Brakes

plenty guides online. Shimano brakes are a piece of p1ss to bleed. I do mine with a plastic bad, an elastic band and a bit of PVC sleeving from some telephone cable.

Sounds like you’re putting too much weight on your hands/bar or you need to fiddle with your set-up i.e. seat/bar height/angle, brake lever position, different bar/stem combinations etc.

And if the spring is too soft why not just fit a firmer one? Gotta be cheaper & easier than getting a new fork and if I’m to believe what I hear & read – there aint nowt wrong with a Lyrik…

Ride flats and SPD’s but find the ‘platform’ type SPD easier to clip back into and you can put a couple of pedal strokes down when you’re unclipped which is pretty much impossible on proper SPD’s

But yeah – I think I prefer riding flats now. There’s one particular trail I do (on the XC/AM/SPD bike) with a long climb that’s as techy as f@ck – plenty of slow twisty, steep bits with rocky, slippery streams to cross and I always wish I had flats on the bike for that

Got a Garmin eTrex 20 in my Amazon basket but haven’t hit the button yet. Already go the Garmin Topo maps of S.E France on SD card/CD…pretty useless without the device though 😕

Nope. Doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Seems any roadies that I talk to can only speak in terms of km, and how many they’ve done that day…dull

    Seems it is;

“Protectant – A substance that provides protection”

    Still sounds stupid…

Seems even they don’t know what it stands for!

    ‘Frame Protectant’??..really??

Just put my order in for these 2 tyres (BC RQ 2.2 & BC MK2 Protection 2.2) – but as others have said, seems the wrong way ’round to me i.e. RQ should be on the front, MK2 on the back

No – haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Got the fork and wheels should be next week

Then hopefully frame next month. But what’s the chances of them not having my size/colour when I’m ready to order…

No – sorry, didn’t make myself clear; Was just pointing out that the angles with the 5mm bottom stack Hope and 180mm fork should be pretty much the same as the recommended (by On-One) 15mm bottom stack Smoothie and 170mm fork (as pointed out by chillidave).

Just looked at the crankset that will probably be going on and they’re 170mm..better than 175 I guess

Well it was pretty much down to the NP Mega and the EG but have made up my mind now. El Guapo it is!

chillidave – The On-One Smoothie has a 15mm bottom stack so the a2C height should be the same as with a 170mm fork indeed and like you say, I should get a slightly higher BB…win, win 😀

OK – looks good. Nice one. Cheers for that.

So the low BB can cause issues hey? So maybe go for some 165mm cranks?

Yeah – figured. Think it should be fun with the extra travel too! Good news re seatpost – have an Easton EC70 Zero Carbon on order. Then again I presume my Reverb will be the post of choice eventually

    Cheers.

I watched the video review on the On-One site and the beardy chap is running a 170mm fork. So if I’m using the Hope P n M ‘D’ cup which apparently “goes right in” and a 180mm Domain the actual change in geo should be minimal, right?

    thehairyrider

Brant – understood but is the frame covered if I’m using a 180mm fork (with internal bottom cup HS) ?

    hi. first post btw 🙂

    @ smiff
“hope Pic n mix went in lovely. watch out lower D cup (ooh err) probably gives a steeper head angle, it goes right in. might post photo later.”

I’d be really interested in seeing this. Think I’m going to get this frame (in black) but I would be using a 180mm fork (Domain 318) so if I can lose anything off the a2c height that’ll be good

Am prepared to whack a 160mm spring in it if I feel it’s too much (or if I’ll void my warranty! – Brant?)

    Cheers
