It’s interesting that most experiences are related to a single architect or firm of… but then the phrase “most of them…” is used.

Being an Architect is tough and most people have no idea what the role involves. Unfortunately most architects aren’t very good at explaining their services either. It is a profession and most act with the highest professional standards.

If you are unhappy with the performance of an architect you can always complain to the ARB. As a profession that has a protected title members can be struck off for misconduct or negligence.

Perhaps some of the horror stories are not from architects at all, many people claim to be architects without having qualifications. You should check on http://search.arb.org.uk/

Yeah, engineers are brilliant. M+E engineers less so.

For me it’s either an hour a bus / tube or 10 miles on my bike.

    I know what I prefer.

Head left out of the play park down the main fire road and keep going. You’ll get to a junction and see a trail going off right ish traversing a hill. Get on that and you’re sorted. Or just follow someone else wearing jeans or not with their seatpost extended too high.

    Have fun.

Yep, another one here. Hopefully a good and helpful one.

Not a great profession to be in.

There’s lots of good architects and lots of bad ones. Like anything really.

Holier than thou is wearing a bit thin but some of it’s ok. Still so damn expensive though.

Not much there to be honest. Did some exercises there when in the air cadets.

If you’re riding fixed then Time Atacs are better as you’re less likely to pop out when putting the power down or slowing down with the old legs.

Apple have in fact stated in their quarterly earnings conference call that they are working on a yearly refresh cycle. ie, the last one was released in June. It’s common knowledge on the interweb. Also as many people have stated if they’re discounting there’s bound to be a new model along soon.

Swinley is great. I usually buy a permit but I might just get the annual one.

Discovered so many more trails there this weekend. A lot of effort goes in to the maintenance and also clearing up the rubbish! Well worth it.

@richpips. Yeah climbed a tree – badly! Just trying to find that different angle and the helichopper was busy.

We also cut a tree down too. With a leatherman saw of all things. Someone else will have pics of that I’d imagine.

@GrahamS – newsgator is the webapp and has a desktop client too all accessing the desktop feeds. Not all of us like to feed off the big G for everything. :-)

Worth reporting. I always report any incidents on the road to the bus company. If they get reports of the same driver being a dick then they’re going to have to do something.

Got mine just before Christmas. Love it and use it for commuting every day. Need to get out more at the weekend on it. Like the fact that it’s steel and has minimal graphics. Didn’t like the look of most I saw due to the crazy colours and enormous logos.

Told someone to get lost the other day for drafting. Roadie just catching a free ride. If they want to do some work then fine.

Don’t mind cycling close when everyone is experienced. Sitting on someones tail in busy London traffic is a bit silly.

Nice stuff there., I recognise the location too. Yeah I might join that group. Bit busy studying a bit at the moment but fancy getting a few tips on lighting.

Might take a trip to Brixton skate park again to shoot some stuff down there again too.

I’ve gone through phases of being interested in strobist but never had the cash for the kit so not taken any off camera stuff myself.

It’s not as expensive as you think. I got a SB-600 for Christmas/Birthday and bought the rest myself.

Umbrella £10 ebay including clamp attachment.
    Lighting stand £15 ebay.
    SB-24 – £50 ebay
    Wireless triggers – £20 ebay.

Not too bad if you shop around.
