Peterpoddy, if you haven't already you should sign up for the next Seb Rogers course. I got a lot out of it when I went earlier in April.

If you want the light higher, ball bungie it to an upturned bike or nearby tree. They make great light stands.

    As per
When there isn't a tree to use as a lightstand...

For someone who uses their fancy pentprism DSLR with amazing sensor on Program mode you don't half talk a lot of twoddle.

Do you want SLR or compact.

Whilst the EP-1 is ace the auto focus is slow. The G11 is nice too but I believe it shares the same problem.

£700 will get you a lot of camera these days though but probably waaay too much to spend on a decent compact that will take "nice" pictures with minimal user interaction.

I have a big LowePro Vertex 100 AW which I only use for if I'm riding to a trail specifically for pics.

Generally I take a lens, one or two flashes, some ball bungies to attach them to trees and triggers in my normal riding bag. I use one of those lens wrap things to cover the body and lens. If not trees are available I use my bike as a lightstand :-)

Well I left the D300s and got the standard D300. Couldn't be happier! Bloody fantastic camera.

Here's a nice one from the Seb Rogers / Trailaddiction photo course in Les Arcs

    Les Arcs - Day 1

Might be worth asking her if you can use it?

Aquarium is in the old City Hall next to the Eye.

Oh and get an Oyster card if you don't want to pay through the nose for travel.

London Eye, Boat Trip, Walk along the Southbank to Tate Modern (lots of street performers), London Aquarium.

Also might be worth going to the Monument for another amazing view.

Well my Dad loved Kobe Ti.

    Not bad for 60.

What do the amateur metallurgists reckon – is it a fatigue thing (ie; the more / harder it's ridden the sooner it will fail) or is it an age thing?

It's a 'sticker' thing. Needed an 853 one.

Used to be pretty bad when it was .mac but much better now.

I have an iPhone and Mac at home and use it to sync calendar and diary using push notifications. Don't use the email much but the 20gb storage is useful for sharing files. Uploading to it via the desktop is a bit painful so I use Transmit FTP client instead. Shared files up to around 4.5gb on it.

Email is actually quite good and you can also create multiple aliases.

All the features can be got elsewhere but I find it's least hassle to have it all in one place.

Oh and if I had another Mac I'd sync the settings as above.

If you have an iPhone the remote kill switch is pretty good, as is the locate my iPhone.

I often go out taking pictures to try and improve my skills. Most of the time I go with mates and when they're not riding a section I sometimes get focus or just practice on people going by. Sometimes I even go to the hassle of setting up two flashes on the trail. I also carry some little moo cards with details of my Flickr page, then if anyone wants to see their photo (if it was any good) then they can download it and keep it.

Nothing wrong with it at all. Sometimes the people riding past are better than my mates anyway, especially at Swinley for instance.

If that baa baa top is merino aren't you supposed to hand wash it?

It says on the tags it's machine washable.

The usual road tax argument. Scares me to think that people want to knock someone off!

Got a pair of of 3/4 length bib tights that have lasted 8 years.

Recently bought a baa baa top and it seems to just get holes in it each time I wash it (at 30 degrees). Going bck to CRC tomorrow. Shame as it's a nice top.

Well they're not as nice as the ones in my film camera but I'm not paying more money just for that. For your job I'd go full frame, but I doubt many people on here need it.

It's interesting to see that people think a D700 is the way forward and the whole DX vs FX opinion.

I can't honestly see any reason for upgrading to full frame. Unless you're a pro or trying to shoot images to print at huge size then it's not really worth it is it? If all you're doing it posting to Flickr then do you need full frame? The lenses are also big £££££.

I'm going to get a D300s in September hopefully. I'd get the D90 but I prefer the less plastic and better weather sealing of the D300.
