Mind you it's much better keeping him off the decent trails round there.

Looks rubbish. It's a double track lane. Hardly calls for full face and full suss.

    What a tool.

Yeah, you don't need to talk to people on there but it's a great way of finding lots of great info and keeping up to date with things.

    I follow this lot

    http://twitter.com/andymatthews/following

Have a kick around in there. Quite a few cycling related ones.

You'll get all sorts of people following you. You can almost predict who is going to follow you in the next few minutes. For instance I mention "Rainwater pipes" in a Tweet and 2 people start following me who sell rainwater pipes.

Oh PS. And they charged me £50 for the pleasure of using the voucher which they didn't tell me about until I'd specced it all out, got fitted and was about to commit to buying it.

Did it in Dec 2008 with a bike voucher for £1000 from one of the vendors who do the scheme. I work at a small firm of 25 people.

Took the voucher to Condor then paid an extra £150 quid to get the spec I wanted. If you get a voucher surely there's no problem with how you spend it? It's like a cheque.

I got this which I bloody love.

Cool dog(s). Would love to get one but spend 12 hours out of the house at work each day.

    One day.

I like Safari and Chrome. Chrome reports back your browsing habits though. There's a way to disable this – just Google it.

Have to use IE at work for certain applications.

Firefox is ok but it's become bloated in recent years and looks pretty clunky IMHO. However the plugins and scripts that are available are very good. Some of the Greasemonkey scripts are invaluable.

Try them all and see how you get on. There's plenty of others out there too. As long as it's not IE 6!

There's a section when you pop out the other side of the stream which is now kind of paved or armoured which I don't think was there before as below.

hmm, not sure about the ultra polished look. Just want it down to the metal. An even dull finish would be nice.

Does sound a bit more scary now. Maybe I'll just leave it.

thisisnotaspoon – won't the oven damage it? Or is it a fairly low temp.

Thanks all. Will look into getting it blasted. When you hand polished Scruff did you use anything special?

Ken – Thanks but I'm going for the minimal no stickers look.

I went from a D70 to a D300 and never been happier. Went to the D300 for better weather sealing and less plastic. Full magnesium body.

Bloody love it although dreaming of a D700 for full frame at the moment.

    Nice build.

I wish people wouldn't use the term "fixie".

If you want a decent book then try blurb.com

Download the software and layout the book yourself including any text you might want. Just done one with them and the quality is superb.

the f1.8 50mm is a bargain. Got mine for £50 on eBay. Do you really need the f1.4 if you're just going to be posting online?

I don't know much about Canon to be honest but…

I'd get a newer 2nd hand body maybe and maybe a 50mm f1.8 prime for low light stuff. I wouldn't get a lens that covers that far a range. Something like an 18-70 would be fine for a do it all lens. You're price range won't really get you a f2.8 zoom but if you get a better body that will go up to maybe 1600 ISO without being too noisy you should be able to have a fair bit of fun.

Oh and a cheap 2nd hand flash with some eBay triggers will work a lot better when shooting in the woods.
