The studio at my college has a Roland and it’s just fantastic. The built in timbres are awesome and the piano sounds really accurate. The synths on it are pretty good if you’re happy to scroll through the menu to find one suitable to what you’re playing.

This one’s good – a documentary about someone who makes cafe racers.

Or, get some craft foam for 79p and duct tape it to a clean downtube. Lasts months, doesn’t damage the paint and the sheet’s big enough for a couple of applications.

It’s pretty good fun and stops boredom at the traffic lights when commuting.

Also it appeals to my inner show off.

in terms of learning how to do it, it’s come naturally to me as long as I’ve been riding. However, I’d say to use the rear brake more than the front, as you want to rock the front wheel back and forwards to maintain balance.

Junkyard Would I need to watch a film of Al Qaeda [ other bogey men are available] beheading people for say being gay to decide what I thought of it and their actions?

No. But you hopefully wouldn’t then go out into the street and murder the first muslim you saw either?

The whole idea of equalised headphones is ridiculous. So what if you like bass? Listen to an artist that uses a lot of bass.

Think of it this way; you wouldn’t buy a TV with the image tinted blue just because you like the colour blue. The idea is that it recreates the source.

Sounds like the only reason we don’t use it today is because it’s useless for making bombs out of.

Rigid fork to keep it light, disks are always nice. Avid BB5/7 are supposed to be good mechanical ones. Also remember that hydraulics for that price will probably be low-end and he’d probably be better off with top-end mechanicals.

Go for 700C wheels if he wants quite skinny tyres and will be on the road most of the time, but if he’ll be taking it along bridleways, it might be worth looking at an “Urban MTB” which is basically a more MTB-focussed hybrid, so tougher frame and forks as well as 26″ wheels which will be built tougher than road 700C wheels. Also, that gives him more choice of knobbly tyres so he can fit something like a Maxxis Crossmark that’ll roll nicely on smooth surfaces but won’t be out of it’s depth if things get a bit muddy.

Boardman Hybrids are quite good, but a bit out of your price range. however, they are very popular on the cycle to work scheme, so there may be a lot of second-hand bikes out there being sold as people want to get a new bike on the scheme.

I use Logic Pro at college. It’s pretty fantastic and I’d love to have a Mac so I could actually use it at home. It has loads of samples, from Steinway pianos to a Tr-808 and there’s lots of room for creating your own synthesizers, which will take up large lumps of your life.

Only donated once. Will go again. It doesn’t really hurt, and as a pretty big guy I didn’t actually notice the difference after. Would give more if I could. A very good excuse to surround yourself with pretty nurses.

I work part time at Halfords and all my colleagues know exactly what they’re on about. As a result, we get customers coming from other nearby towns to buy bikes and get them built rather than their local store.

On the flip side, we’ve had bikes from other stores that have obviously not been built properly.

It’s easy to slag off the whole chain because of a bad experience at one store, but some of us actually know what we’re doing.

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. He’s very good. If you get it on CD there’s a bonus track.

Union by Saint Saviour is also really good.

I put the nose of the saddle on my shoulder and hold it by the downtube. Leaves left arm free to stuff.

Then again, not many unrideable climbs in the alpine passes of Wiltshire.

Stargate’s always good. If it has to be recent, Universe was fairly good. First series was a bit slow, but it got a lot better into the second series, and then they killed it.

I live in Wiltshire, and the ground just turns to sticky clay. It doesn’t dry unless you have hot weather for a day or two and usually has sharp flint buried in it. Really not worth the effort.

It’s all good up to when you first get up to the rugby pitch. Gets a bit soggy in places there, so be careful on some of the faster corners. It’s all good to ride though. Well worth all the time done on surfacing work.

The Zat gun from stargate is great.

I love the look and the sound it makes is great.

Ronon’s gun from Atlantis is great too.

In the tropics in WW2 they used to use cocunut milk for transfusions because they were short on blood. Apparently it’s the right consistency to keep the blood pressure up for you to live.

Craghoppers Kiwi shorts are pretty good. The stretch material is comfy, there’s not too much material between the legs to get on the saddle.

Also, water droplets seem to bead on the surface. Obviously this is only small amounts as they’re not waterproof, but it does help to keep you comfy and keeps them clean when it’s just a little bit of mud.

Inspired me to upload this one as well. Yes, it’s more than a month old, but I’m proud of it:

What’s the point of humans? So far we’ve only had a negative impact on this planet and almost every other species of life out there.
