  • How is Gee Atherton Recovering From That Crash?

You probably just need a high recovery 250L cylinder. Should be plenty adequate. Will probably heat up faster than your old, smaller one too.

I’m installing a thermal store in our house later this year, using solar tubes and a log burner to supplement the existing combi.
Combi will just be used to heat the tank then. All hot water will come from the thermal store at mains pressure via a 100kw plate heat exchanger.
Solar will probably provide around 50-60% of total heat throughout the year, log burner in the winter another 15-20%, combi the rest.

    300mm isn’t it?

You should complain to them and tell them they need a longer plume management kit!

as above. I used it in a ’06 megane dci 130, chipped to 160. Went very well indeed and got a few extra mpg too.

Funny about the soil pipe, doesn’t EVERY new house built have an internal soil pipe ?

Nope, have a look at the back of every house you can see today. the fat pipe, going from the ground to the gutter line is the soil pipe.

Don’t think its possible on these unless you swap the internals to 40 fighters. I think they’re coil with 130-150 travel

And yes they are a superb fork! Got some on a reign

Oh and the plaster will fall off the brickwork if you so much as look at it the wrong way!

worked on a few, kitchens, bathrooms, alterations etc.

I’m not keen personally, especially the dormer type.

If it has an internally routed soil pipe, plan to have it moved direct to the outside before you move in. Otherwise it’ll cause havoc and cost a fortune when it leaks.

the roofs sometimes have a crap membrane under the tiles too, check for damp on the rafters.

Honeycomb drywall makes rewires a hassle and they often have no earth on the light circuit so don’t fit fancy metal switches.

Just go to your local back street Asian place. I used to get part worn michelins, fitted and balanced for £25. 205/55/16, usually got about 15-20k out of them too.

Nope, you’ll get a decent transit for that. I’ve been watching loads on ebay recently, looking myself. £1500 should get you around an 02 ish lwb, in good condition.

but he still stands on the brake when in a queue []

    you can’t buy class

Perhaps it’s because it’s a semi-auto paddle shift, with no clutch. kind of stupid to keep engaging park and applying the handbrake, no?

I’m willing to wager the owner has more class than you.

get it skimmed! Don’t bother with the dry wall filling nonsense, that’s for commercial buildings, offices and the like. Anyone doing that domestically is either a cowboy or a proper tight arse! You just won’t get a quality finish.

Then paint the skim, but DON’T pva it first ffs! Thin some cheap white emulsion 50/50 with water, make sure its not vinyl or silk though. Give it 2 coats of that, then put 1-2 coats of your colour etc. In a warm room, you might be able to do the whole job in a day if your colours are light. If dark, wait 24hrs.

Make sure the plaster is dry in all areas before you paint, give it 2-5 days depending on thickness.

PVA will not bond skim & paint properly and eventually will peel off, probably next time you come to paint. Meaning you will most likely have to skim again to get a perfect finish

I watched the first couple hoping it would be like coming to America!

It wasn’t, but had some funny moments. I reckon there was loads of footage that was cut out though, of them making asses of themselves

I used to use them back in the early to mid 90’s when bars where all narrow and flat. Had blue 28 inch risers with a brace on an orange clockwork with manitou 4’s, they were mad! Brilliant control, but bloody nuisance for tight singletrack.

I used standard MX bars and a shim that came with them for 25.4 stems, all there was than. Cost was about the same as an average mountain bike bar, around £25-30

I’ve got an early 02 x-trail, the 2.2 diesel SE+. Its got nice heated leather, panoramic sunroof, climate etc, loads of space, will keep up with a hatchback on twisty roads. Only 114 horsepower, but that is enough for decent performance.
Does about 34mpg average, 45 on motorway. Will do 115 flat out and cruise happily and quietly at 80, gets a bit noisy 90+.
It’s not a full on off-roader like a defender, but its definitely no softie and extremely capable, more so with good tyres.

Its only 20cm longer than my old Megane and no wider. Not very high overall, but it makes a big difference to the driving position.

Mrs FM cried when I brought it home as she had a 206 before. Now the only car she wants is the new model!

Only downside for me is it won’t take a bike with the wheels on and seats up.

    Why wouldn’t you?

between the missus and me, we’ve had 4, 2 each. both had replacements as they either broke AFTER being repaired or were just shite. go for the far superior 905, better in every way conceivable.
The so called 5mp camera on the 902 is a joke, so many other faults I can’t be bothered to list at this time of night.

Whereabouts are you? There’s a guy who lives literally around the corner from me and can usually do same day service. Mrs FM got a pair just before crimbo, paid about £100ish inc thin and anti glare/reflection type lenses. Frames alone are £200 in opticians!!!

He’s based just outside Ashton-Under-Lyne, whole family has used him for years, top class. He’ll come to you, or you can go to his house.

Don’t know about the link, but I paid £150ish for a full service and front pads on my old megane. It was the 1.9 DCI 130 and used synthetic oil too. Done at a local garage. III had the interim oil changes done at Renault, was only £40 there too and they did a full visual inspection with a print out.

Where are you getting the kitchen from?

I fit them and have been using Magnet for a couple of years now.
When I order a full kitchen, I get a Candy appliance pack for £250, stainless 4 burner hob, multifunction fan oven and chimney hood. 5 burner option has cast iron pan stands and flame failure, about £380ish. Comes with 5 year guarantee also.

The kitchen prices are awesome comparatively too.

Anywhere near Manchester and I’ll see if I can get you a deal when you’re ready

I’va had This beautyfor about 10 years now. I.m just about to send it back for its second battery and service. It goes back to the factory in Switzerland and last time it cost me £35 including having a new glass fitted!

It’s really thin and comfortable on the wrist and looks stunning even after 10 years.

I’ve got a Steel Tag and a gangster rap gold Rolex Oyster(inherited) too, but this is the one I wear mostly.
