If you're having wooden flooring, it will act as a reasonably good insulator to the UFH, meaning it won't be very effective. Go for tiles if having UFH and you will get far greater heat transfer.

Electric can be used for a primary heat source and it's very effective, provided you use the correct type. The matt types are essentially background/comfort heating and generally their output is designed as such.

The cable types can be tailored to suit the application by adjusting the distance between the laid cables. I've fitted a few cable types into kitchens and they're pretty good. The spacing is usually about 40-50mm for primary heat.

I use these kits, great service, very healpful and as good as anything at four times the price

    Warmsoles

They also have an ebay shop, which is where I get it from, have a look at item number 120464682858

For larger area's, wet UFH is always the way to go. It can go down into a self leveling screed, over your concrete slab. It needs careful setting up though to get right.

They're both pretty low mileage vehicles, the X-Trail has only done 12k in the last 2.5 years. Mostly cold starts and 15-30 min journeys.

    Which brands are ester based?

All the premium semi and full synthetic I've seen exceeds the min spec

Have previously and will use the correct weights.

I was told once that higher mileage engines work better with certain brand oils, sometimes 1 grade thicker also.

What about these additives, like slick 50 etc?

How do air source heat pumps compare to gas nowadays?

The one's I have been looking at have an input of around 3Kw and approx 12-14Kw heat output. On those numbers, they seem a better bet than gas, especially considering the volatility of gas prices due to those pesky Ruskies and our red leaders war on the A-rabs

Go in with no preconceptions and you'll really like it.

It is very good but also very different from Independance day etc, not that sort of film

Take your pic, let me know what you like and I'll get you a price.

Your local posh bathroom place should have Vitra and Valdesa on display if you want a look

    http://uk.vitra.com.tr/vitrakatalog/kategori_sbt.aspx?categoryCode=VCT05_01

Can't find the Valdesa website though.

The prices vary in ranges and will be competitive with B&Q basic stuff, much cheaper than the posh stuff

I use Vitra almost exclusively as it's proper good stuff.

Taps and showers, trays and screens and fitted furniture are available too.

If you're really interested, I'll post you a catalogue, it has the retail prices in it but that's not what you'd pay.

    Are you anywhere near manchester?
I can hook you up with some really nice vitra or valdesa kit at not much more than cost. Usually less than what the shops pay for it.
From what I know, tesco are equal to B&Q, they might look nice at first glance but quality is not good

Those two were brave! I worked for Rentokil a long time ago and the techies there didn’t even like doing wasp nests. They can be really aggressive and even dangerous if the nest is large.
They can fly up to 1km away from the nest on the warpath stinging everything in sight if the colony is big enough.

Nasty little feckers when they get pi$$ed off, use extreme caution.

I’d probably charge a ton for that, would be gone by 11am assuming it’s just a skim job and no patching up etc.

    Where in Lancashire are you?

I’m going to have a day or two free in about 7-10 days, then a few more in about 3 weeks.

    I’m based Ashton-U-Lyne way,

    Ok an update,

taken the keyfob apart and found the transponder is just a RFID chip, an induction ring around the ignition barrel activates it.

So I glued the blade back into the fob with unibond metal repair, lasted long enough to get it into the ignition then fell apart! That stuff is monkey jazz. Didn’t have any epoxy so used super glue next. Seems to be ok for now, don’t think it will last long though.

Finally managed to free up the barrel too, lots of lithium grease sprayed down the hole and wiggling/jiggling etc.

Works for now but still need a replacement if anyone has any ideas, will check with citroen tomorrow, whilst sitting down!

nonsense, Dewalt make a large range of 18v tools, the £250 ones go forever. Lost count of how many times mine has been dropped, stood on, had plaster, paint and whatever else spilt on it!

Forget Howdens, I’ve had a few quotes off them, Magnet are always at least 20-25% cheaper and better stuff too.

What is your budget excluding fitting?

If it’s good quality but cheap, get your carcasses from Selco or Magnet, both come ready assembled and are excellent quality, 25yr guarantee from Magnet. Then put the cheaper IT range doors on from B&Q.

Get your appliances from ebay shop sellers.

If you’re near manchester, i’ll get you a quote from Magnet if you want

The one you linked is a good tool for the money, batteries are pants though.

They do a 12v version too, smaller, lighter and cheaper I think, plenty of power

Screwfix are doing the blue Bosch pro one on special at the mo.

It’s the 10.8v Li-Ion one, driver and impact driver, 2 batts, 30 min charger, £130.

Depends what you want it for really, I have the above and the multi cutter tool from the same range, all excellent.

But for the majority of medium and all larger jobs, I use my 18v Dewalt impact driver. The speed and power are just awesome!

Shame you’re not near me, I’m always looking for a good lacky to help out now and again.

Ashton-U-Lyne area if anyone else is.

    Free coffee, maybe transport too
Pay will be crap btw, apologies in advance.

    TheFunkyMonkey

Forget all the suggestions above except the noggins.

Cut the plasterboards out and insert some 4×2 noggins, 4″ being face out.

Cut the pieces just large enough so you need to hammer them in slightly tight, not so you’re moving the studs much though. Then screw these into the studs at 45 degrees with a couple of 4x80mm screws at each side. A 5mm screw may split the wood.
then just re-attach the cut out pieces with gripfill of the like. It won’t be on show so no need to bother skimming up etc. If you screw the boards back, make sure they won’t interfere with the cabinet hanger screws.

Then just use 5x50mm screws to hand your brackets.

Good quality screws are always worth the extra btw, spax, rapier, goldscrew plus and turbo gold, reisser, all very good and VERY Expensive in B&Q

Shouldn’t take long and will be permanent.

Maybe double standards compared to recent events, but isn’t that how it Should be handled?

The few police in the video did a very good job holding back the crowd and showed excellent restraint. I think I would have cs’d them myself.
Some members of the crowd also seemed to be trying to help and calm things.

Selco have an amazing offer on at the moment, think it’s around £4-5 per 4.2 meter length, 120mm wide I thing. Could be slightly off,but around that. Quality looked pretty good too.
Would be perfectly suitable for a treehouse.

You need to be a trade member to buy, if they knock you back, email me and I’ll give you my trade card number

I’ve just fitted a 42kw worcester, nice easy boiler to fit. The output is truly immense and was way too much power for the house, but it was what the customer asked for. Can be had for about £1300 inc standard flue, budget another £100 for a good wireless programmer like the honeywell 921.

Personally I would never advise a combi for a large house. My personal choice is a thermal store, driven direct with a small boiler, some vacuum tube solar panels on the roof and a log burning stove for the winter. ” heat exchangers on the thermal store, small one for rads, around 30kw and a 100kw for hot water. Everything runs at mains pressure, but crucially its not actually a pressurised system.

Depends on your available space, budget, system demands and knowledge. Most plumbers wouldn’t know where to start with a thermal store though.

    50 video mins
    50 picture messages
    1gb internet
    and 12 month contract.

    £25 quid a month!

    beat that!

oh and its on 3, i get better coverage in the lakes than mrs fm on voda too.

Not sure where you are,but I’ve been using paintmaster emulsion for the last year or so. They do vynal and plain for new plaster. Its £15 for 20 litres and its the buisness, basically re-branded dulux. Excellent coverage, even over strong colours and stains.
I get it direct from stockport, one near hayfield too I think.

Spoony is on the money there. What’s the point in the other drivers racing hard when they’re 4-5th place down? No chance of a realistic win so they’ll just trundle round.
If a driver wins the first 9 races, he can now have an early holiday as he’s won it, no need to do the remaining 8. With the points system, the win comes much later at least, gone to the final race several times in the last few years.
Its just another stupid ill though out idea, like pretty much everything else they’ve come up with recently.
This season will probably have some good frontline moments, but ulimately be crap.

plumbers and sparkys seem to have developed a major superiority complex over the last decade. They seem to think they can charge the same rate as doctors and dentists, for what is essentially fairly simple work. Granted they have the knowledge that joe public doesn’t, but they’re still taking the pi$$, big time.
Phone around and you’ll get it done for free, plus a cheaper repair too. There are thousands of plumbers and sparks desperate for work at the moment, I get 3-4 calls a week asking me if I have anything for them. Do everything myself now and just use 1 gas man for certificates, £40 a pop.

boiler cost can be anything from £250 for a 24kw heatline capriz to £1300 for a 42kw bosch greenstar. I’ve fitted both and plenty in between, just depends what you want to spend. Nothing wrong with the heatlines, sargon range in particular as they have stainless heat exchangers and off the shelf standard parts inside. Any boiler, irrespective of price will fail if not installed correctly.

For a basic straight swap, probably in the range of £2-300, half a day.

that is an ideal scenario though and it rarely is

Khan is a prize knob who thinks he’s the best thing since Ali.

He hasn’t had a proper fight yet and the first decent fighter he took on put him on his ass.

Barrera is at the end of is career now too, so he’d better win or he’ll go the way of Audley Harrison.

I hope he gets 7 shades knocked out of him.

    Come on Barrera!!!!!
