Another Shimano AM41 wearer here. Look a bit wierd but dry feet as long as you don’t go wading in puddles etc. based on my experience.

If he had a basic engineering background instead of his background in Art and Interior design, he would’ve designed his vacuum using CAD, Matlab, FEA and CFD. There would’ve been a couple of prototypes, and they would’ve worked.

A couple of friends of mine worked for him in the early days. Both had engineering degrees from a top uni. And also product design degrees. I saw the work they did – lots of cardboard mock-ups AND lots of fancy CAD, Matlab, FEA and CFD. The prototypes worked.

You may not like their stuff but at least they are different and trying to innovate. If it keeps some clever jobs in Blighty (I know Mfg has moved) all to the good.

+1 for KHS Yuma. In fact for another 100 quid you can get the KHS full susser. Do you REALLY want a HT?

Brilliant suggestion – that’s astonishing value. Sadly I am over 6ft with long arms and legs so always end up on a large frame, or I would probably have gone for that…

    Back to plan A.

Hmmm. I think it is time to have a word with the house finance committee. I think a Titus Rockstar could be the way forward…

You need to head on over to AVForums. They’ll see you right. My eBay Pioneer BluRay has ’em but I think they are becoming increasingly rare.

I commuted in London for years on a bike. I always hopped off and pushed across the road as a pedestrian if there was a red where I clearly didn’t need to stop. Then at the other side hopped back on and rode off. Seemed a sensible solution, to me anyway.

Was solo night riding in a wood in Sweden a couple of weeks ago. Nearly taken out by a deer jumping across the track, but also got chased by something low and stocky. Locals guess it was a badger trying to sink its jaws into my rear tyre. Almost enough to make me go tubeless…

Also saw one in Blighty who was much less bold. He ran away but there was nowhere to leave the trail so I followed him closely for about 30 meters before he darted off into trees. Surprisingly quick for something with short fat hairy legs. The badger, that is…

Not seen this for years but watched Skye house tonight. Liked it a lot. For that reason – I’m back in!

Or go mad and get custom moulded buds. Costs about 90 quid and solves all comfort issues.

My wife has base model i10 Hyundai. Wind up windows. Not even intermittent wipers. It’s like driving in 1972 only reliable. Small though…

+1 for Sex Pistols at Manchester Free Trade Hall. I’d have started a band and been famous. And another +1for James Brown in the 70s – wasn’t there one gig where he was credited with preventing a race riot?

Agree with posters so far. Nobody’s life is improved by you stepping into the separation proceedings. I think it would be best for you to leave well alone and know that you did the right thing. Plus that knowledge may help boost your self image which could work wonders if you are thinking you might want to meet somebody new…

Very common – new iron required by the sound of it. I had same issue – a quick google pulled up all sorts of stuff – seems it is a common problem.

Band – The Fall. Or maybe Radiohead. Or Pavement. Or A Tribe Called Quest. I’ll get Back to you…
Album – far too hard to choose, so I will go for Tricks of the shade by The Goats in the hope it will encourage someone to listen to it. But probably it’s something by Radiohead. Or Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.
Single – Teenage kicks (iout of respect to the late JP)
Gig – Probably The Blue Aeroplanes at the Assembly Rooms in Bristol just after they came off tour with REM in the brief window when they were going to be famous. Sadly it never happened…

I did a makeover on a cheap and nasty B&Q kitchen. It was that nasty orange-coloured knotted pine. Not good. Spent a few weekends sanding and painting in suitably middle class Farrow and Ball type blue/grey (but Dulux paint) with Aubergine colour kick board. Had little budget for worktop and eventually went for very cheap laminate from big DIY place in Matt wood finish to look like the nice real wood blockboard stuff people have pictured above. Overall effect of total package looked really good and worktop didn’t look cheap at all. Much better that the other “fake” finishes like glossy fake granite. If you are on a budget I’d look at that. Though if you are considering corian you are not on what I would call a budget!

I did one. Depends what you want out of it. They can be brilliant but you need a clear view of what you are trying to achieve. Also massively depends where you do it – if it is not a “top” school unlikely to get you far so choose carefully. My opinion is that it is an all or nothing thing – go big or don’t bother.

Another happy First Direct customer here. Been very impressed – must be at least 10 years by now. Had Barclays and Lloyds before and both dropped the ball. FD have been flawless – can’t fault them.

Got a rack on my Voodoo Bokor. Cheap as chips and surprisingly decent dual purpose commuter/occasional larking about bike. Work away from home a lot so keep it at my “second home”. Rack is a disc mount Topeak Explorer. Took ages to get one – there seemed to be no stock anywhere for several months. Be warned…

Many moons ago, in my “courting years”, I went out with a girl who was attractive, intelligent, kind and generous and seemed to like me. There was absolutely nothing wrong – but nevertheless I somehow never felt a really strong pull towards her. And it wasn’t her, it really was me. Something was missing. Now, may years later and happily married I still don’t know why it didn’t work between us, but I have no doubt that it didn’t and never would. Not saying this is definitely the case for you but sounds a lot like the situation I was in. There really was NOTHING wrong with her, but still it wasn’t right. Hope it all works out for you whatever you decide to do… As everyone else has said – talk to her about it.

Another user of those cheap Amazon doo dahs here. Not touched the steel since I got it. Fast. Works. More time for life – and still that knife gliding through stuff thing.

    Sorry to be a pleb.

HD Ready means 720 lines. HD is 1080 lines. I’d go for something with some sort of HD receiving built in unless you have sky – i.e. Freeview HD received built in rather than regular Freeview. At a big screen size it looks much better and all the big shows are on the main terrestrial HD channels. Enjoyed watching Man C get beaten last night in wonderful 1080 lines of HD. Worth every penny. Of course if you use Sky ignore it and get any nice 1080 panel.

As advised above, avforums is good and also look for reviews on http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/

    Good luck

Got the “normal” raceblades. Quite limited faffage but equally limited coverage. By all accounts these are a bit more faff and a bit more coverage. FWIW I’d stick with what’cha got.

A series of small incidents lead me to go full tilt into a tree at Woburn. Collar bone and four ribs and massive bruising – was in significant pain for a month. Considered myself unlucky. Have now revised my view. Hope he recovers fully – sounds very scary indeed. Best wishes to the rider and those around him. Sobering thoughts here.

Hyundai i10? I got one 18 months old for the OH. Cheap, a good little car and still more than 3 years left on the warranty. It’s been great so far (now had it 6 months) and the OH loves it.

Just put a 29er disc-specific Topeak Explorer rack on my commuter. Rare as hens teeth – LBS took 7 weeks to get one. No stock anywhere by all accounts and waiting for new shipments into Europe. Good now it is here though, and if they have arrived in volume should now be easy to get…

Lots of good stuff mentioned but +100 for the goats. Brilliant album and of my favorite hip hop albums ever. Got it on vinyl somewhere – off to look for it now! If that’s your bag and you don’t know it get yourself over to Spotify now. Off you go.

I’ve got a Belkin HDMI switch that I used as my AV amp is pre-HDMI and I didn’t want to buy a new one when I went HD. Works perfectly. I use a Logitech Harmony remote to control it all so there isn’t even any extra faff with button pressing – the remote sets the amp to the right setting for audio and also sets the Belkin to route the corresponding video feed. Very straightforward.

    This is the switch

I paid about fifteen quid new. Good luck!
