Roofbox. But the big baby clobber in the boot (prams etc.) and everything else in the box. I use one for camping – got it for £40 off ebay. Had a crack which I covered with Duck tape to make watertight and all is good…

Blimey – I'd have considered loads of those done so far. So – probably need to get a bit off the beaten track. How about:

    Range Life – Pavement
Spitting Out Miracles – Blue Aeroplanes

Showing my age with the last one…

Front mech needs a kick to change down. Forks feel very wooden and solid – air spring OK but damping gone mad. Tyres feel rock hard even though pressure OK (Dr Sludge puncture gunk has frozen solid). Apart from that – all good…

+1 for Endura MT500s. Make sure you fit them properly – if you don't pull them on fully at the back the zip is put under a lot of stress and fails very quickly. My LBS explained hoe they should look once on and following their instructions I have had no issues. They keep my shoes clean and toes toasty – very useful at this time of year.

Thanks Stoner. I'll need to get a set. And a wolf. Anyone know if CRC can get me wolf delivered in time for Christmas?

What would be the best tyres for photographing a wolf? Any ideas?

I had the 180hp TTiD wagon. Most of the time averaged over 50mpg and went like stink. Had to replace it (company car mileage rotation) and was sad to see it go – wasn't allowed to order another. Very comfy, very user friendly and liked the fact wasn't the usual beemer/audi. Plus got much better spec. than same price German cars.

Ride alone in the woods a couple of evenings a week and have never been spooked. Not because I'm super brave, it's just I never really thought about it. Didn't realise there might be wierd stuff out there. So – thanks for that. Not looking forward to my ride tonight as much as usual…

Saab wagon – preferably the twin turbo diesel. Goes like a rocket, fabulously comfy, user friendly interior and as James may would say, doesn't make you look like a c*ck (with all due apologies to beemer owners on here – sure you're all wonderful, it's just the ones that don't hang around on STW that drive like tw*ts),

Know someone who lost two SC bikes same way – followed over 100 miles home, garage broken into that night. Unloading not visible from the road, so no way that was the answer. There were three high end bikes in the garage – all taken, nothing else touched…

Another vote for Pure. Got one in kitchen with extra speaker for stereo. It's on all day – 6music for tunes, 5 live for footie without the MW sound "issues', kids channels for the smaller family members, 1xtra for dance stuff. Brill. Mind you, looking at evoke flow…

wwaswas – Wasn't complaining about them not setting up an air shock, just passing on my personal experience with the store in response to the question posted. The fact is I picked up the bike at 4.55 on a Sunday at a store a long way from home. No way I could wait for them to sort it on Monday so I did it myself. Not a big deal, but doesn't change the fact that the forks come with a manual and they clearly hadn't bothered to read it. For what I paid for the bike (<£500) I was OK to do the final fettling myself, but not everyone will be able to do so. If you pay money for the product to be assembled I do think you ought to be able to expect it to be done properly.

Recently bought a Carrera Fury from H (obviously). Sales staff were helpful, though I didn't need any advice as my mind was made up re. the bike after some research. The bike was priced incorrectly (too low) and they honoured the displayed price with little pressure from my end. So far so good. However, build was very poor – air shock running at such high pressure the fork was essentially rigid, and a front mech so out of adjustment it would not even shift to the inner ring. The "faults" took me five minutes to fix, but if you weren't that way inclined it could have been a bigger issue. Bottom line is that there's no way I could have got a bike of that quality for the price I paid anywhere else, and the basic product quality is good. The issues with the build were disappointing but not surprising, and I'm going to try another store for the free 6 week service to give them another go…

Add another thumbs up for Conti Gatorskins. Was plagued with punctures on my (ahem…) road bike, and have not had one since the switch about 800 miles ago. Having said that, not using road bike much at the moment…

Suntour Epicon. Decentish air fork at very decent price.

If you want safe but stylish, I'd say Saab 9-5 Diesel estate.

Ahh – just discovered the evil of Hawthorns. Swapped the Speed Kings on my new Carrera Fury (don't start…) for some lumpy old Bontragers I had as seemed to be getting loads of punctures. Next ride – puncture! Have now put slime type tubes (different brand, can't remember what) on and after 10 miles in local woods last night got home with lowish pressure in back tyre but still running. Looks like I got my winter set-up sorted. Anyone know how to get frame decals off a new bike…?
