Good question… by the way the page I linked to isn’t quite right now, as the products have all bumped along a few pages as time has passed since the link. So if you do want to see the Muc Off stuff you’ll have to scroll along a bit…

Mr O, where do you live – could you please come round, I’ve got a… project I could do with some help with! :)

Whiplash, definitely agreed on recommendations for it above, a truly excellent film.

I saw A Most Violent Year last night, I was a bit disappointed, couldn’t really engage with it so it didn’t do much for me. Very well put together and very impressive performances (particularly from Oscar Isaac, boss chappie out of Ex Machina), but the story let it down for me.

OK, based on OP – Gore Oxygen. Where does that come up short?

Molgrips, a lot the previous recommendations will do what you want but youre dismissing as theyre not what you expected.

Agreed. There are about 5 options in this thread already that are as good as you’re going to get…

True, but I can confirm that it’s bloody nice to wear. To put you out of your misery, you want a Gore Oxygen.

so if you just want a windproof thickish jersey, wear your regular jersey on top of that Craft and that’s exactly what you’ve got :?

I want an outer shell, not a base layer.

Noted – what you want is a Gabba, but for less money! The Craft option isn’t a bad idea, but point taken!

Craft Windstopper base layer is a decent option and miles under budget – ver good warmth as a base for a regular jersey.

I am looking forward to needing to wear mine again!

I’m with aP on this – I rode the A11 west into town from east of Stratford last week and it was an absolute nightmare, the roadworks mean you can’t overtake the stationary traffic so you get boxed at the lights along with everyone else, on the few bits where there’s nothing to stop you overtaking, you’re going against the flow in the already narrow lane going the other way. I would definitely avoid as quickly as possible, and advise against heading all the way to Aldgate on it…

Better option is to head through the Olympic park and make a beeline for Roman Road, then take it from there…

Just buy it via [edit – hang on, that can’t be right… bear with me… Aha] HopShopGo

Could someone please tell a simpleton how to take advantage of this development, in as few words as possible, please – I would like to become rich with as little effort as possible. Thanks. :)

Anyone seen any better deal than £170 for a Z1 Compact – may get one for the missus as her Moto E has been a massive letdown…

Ok, another one to add – just watched Unfriended on the train, pretty good – a lot more graphic and slasher style than I expected or realised, clever set up and a bit Blair Witchy in its novel setting / presentation. , All in all a clever twist on that type of film… Good stuff, 3.5/5.

Ok, so tonight I went for Ex Machina – I thought it was excellent, not what I was expecting at all and very well done. Echoes of Moon and The Skin I Live In. Very good, recommended IMO. 4/5.

I may be in with the sleeping bairns again tonight, so another film night could be on the cards – decisions decisions!

ok, so I went for Kingsman – definitely enjoyable, cleverly done although typically for Matthew Vaughan a bit OTT, a lot of style over substance and not quite as clever as it thinks it is… Still, worth a watch. 3/5.

For the record, of those I’ve seen above I’d say:
    Wild: 3.5/5
    Nightcrawler: 4.5/5
    Paddington: 3/5
    Pride: 3/5
    Dallas Buyers Club: 4.5/5
    Gravity: 4/5
    Boyhood: 4.5/5
    Grand Budapest: 4/5.

Some more to add to the list, anyway – cheers all!

ok, good suggestions all – ta, some of the above I’ve seen, some I’ve haven’t. I’ll report back… (anyone seen Unfriended – I’ve heard mixed stuff about it?)

Interesting, Fury, Kingsman and Foxcatcher are already ones I was considering… I’ve seen Wild, very good.

I assume your right hand was injured if that’s the one that’s painful from braking – could you run a combination of fixed with front brake only on a left brake lever? Then you’d have the safety net / comfort of primary braking without pain on your right hand?

The reducer shims for a 1-18″ to 1″ steerer shims would also work for this I assume, just need to be opened up a bit to stretch onto the larger steerer… though that does sound potentially dodgy… maybe someone nice on here will machine one for you?

The loss of Street View makes it harder to work out accurately where segments start and finish for those who care….

I love a KOM as much as anyone, but seriously – that would never have even have occurred to me…

I’ve got a Dolan Preffisio, it’s a very nice bike – very nice to ride and doesn’t feel that different to my light best bike… It’s a very tight squeeze for Bluemels with 25c tyres, but just about goes together. Obviously well under budget, so may not be “nice” enough for what you’re after…

    I’ll post a picture shortly…

Many camera pouches with belt loops would go over the webbing strap of the Camelbak, I’d have thought – it wouldn’t have to be specific for that use. Try looking on Amazon etc., should be easy to find some cheap decent options…

I did the Dragon ride last year and couldn’t have done it without the stops.

Although my Strava moving time was 8h16m, my official time (and in fact the Strava time for the event route segment which of course is based on elapsed not moving time) was 8h33m, and that’s all I ever told anyone I did. If you reduce an “event” time when you’ve stopped for whatever reason you’re being deceitful, IMO.

ok, so I was hoping to get under 5h30, and I did… snuck home in 4h19m! I was more than a bit surprised, and the last 20 was definitely tough going, but very happy now!

and, yep, I like the climbs too – blasted a load of people on Leith and Box and nobody overtook me on either :)

FB-ATB – I went last night and rode out from there to Stratford. There is a little backstreet just across Victoria Dock Road just off Coolfin Road / Murray Square which is literally just over the traintracks from where you need to go in to the centre to register. No parking restrictions, and you would be able to leave your car there for the 20 mins or so it takes to register.

Just established I’ll be doing 17 miles of riding today – I like the way their guide says “don’t do any riding for the last few days”, then they say “please ride to Excel to register on Thursday – Saturday”!

Registration day for me today too – pain it’s so far away, I rode in as slowly as possible and then have to head there, then to my sister’s in Stratford to drop my stuff off prior to the weekend – hope I haven’t forgotten anything!
