yep, dvdshrink is free and rips them from the disc to your hard drive as a .iso disc image file. you can then open that image with something such as vlc media player just like it would play it off the disc.

this takes up about 4.5gb per disc, though, so if you want a lot of them then there are more elaborate techniques to reduce just the film, rather than the whole disc, to around 700mb each. but it’s a long story…

all the xtr stuff’s still at a good price at stif.co.uk – i just got a whole drivetrain off them, includes 15% discount when you spend over £150 so you can get killer deal before prices go crazy.

very nice. only two negatives i can see are the seat clamp and the carpet.

everything else, very impressive.

if you sell a home worth £200,000 at 20% less than market value – £160,000 – and buy a house worth £300,000 at 20% less than market value – £240,000 – then you’ll have lost £40,000 off the value of your home when you sell, but will make £20,000 profit when the market picks up again. So to summarise, if you are trading up and can get your current place sold then it’s a very good time to buy as there’s so much on the market that you can get a bargain and make capital profit after owning the new one for a fwe years.

when you know that one is a h you have:
one of ht or th – not both.

if you have 1 x 10p and 1 x 2p, then quite clearly 10p heads, 2p tails is not the same as 10p tails, 2p heads. hence two different ways of getting one heads and one tails. therefore twice as likely as getting 10p heads and 2p heads. is this getting through to you?

it makes sense to me, but i don’t know.

seriously, anyone needs any gear get it quick – i reckon the estimate ^^^ of £450 saved is conservative, got the M970 pedals for £78 and they’re listed RRP now of £135… unbelieveable.

stif have got 15% off over £150, serious savings to be made before they up the prices…

blimey, i’ve just had to accelerate the purchase of the whole drivetrain for my new build, was going to hold off but just did a little wee when i saw the new XTR Chainset RRP of £430 :o

got the cranks, mechs, shifters, chain, cassette and pedals all from stif for £550 – saved about £450 off the new RRPs!

had them on my scandal when i got it and was prepared to give ’em a go. did so for about 2 months and didn’t get on with them. went back to trusty risers.

in fact, the marys are in my cupboard and i’m never going to use ’em so anyone who wants ’em, make an offer and more than likely they’re yours!
