yeah you just get different adaptors and swap the rotors. they’re really powerful, with 185s you’d have no probs.

    merlin works.
not yet built, so it looks nice in my lounge so far…

£1000 for the frame or the whole thing?

i’ve got ultimates with 185mm rotors and they are really quite super. i’m a bit lighter at 12.5 stone, but they are more than powerful enough, never more than one finger required (eek). good shit.

oh yeah, the other thing i discovered was the boulangerie in belle plagne village that did amazing minipizzas for a more palatable €3 so well worth planning a descent to get one to be eaten on the gondola back up. as IHN says, there is (slightly better) value to be had.

i went to la plagne and the food and that was ridiculously expensive, partly because that’s what it’s like at such places and partly due to the exchange rate. nothing like as much as up there ^^^ though, we were looking at more like £15/person for lunches. still ridiculous, though.

    good times, of course!

apologies, i knew the winter rules would apply but was trying to take advantage of the loophole that allows for an exception until they’re formally invoked. please strike friedrichstrasse from my gamecard.

    nice move with osterley.

i’ll take the opportunity presented by the oxford circus repetition to invoke subclause 2.b of the 1965 teutonic contention that take us to:

    friedrichstrasse

chain reaction have increased their prices but not by that much, to the extent that a lot of xt and xtr stuff is now listed at 40-45% below RRP. worth a look.

the ultegra sl mech’s on there for £45 inc. delivery.

You’re the one talking stupid, as most of your posts seem to be. You’re not Rude Boy under a different name are you? Idiot.

    pardon?

ok, sorry for dragging you into my pit of stupidity – your question was excellent, mine was stupid. apologies.

while we’re talking stupid questions for cable routing, i need to get some zipties for my new build’s brake hoses and while this no doubt seems ridiculous, i don’t know what’s the right size so i can order them…

any enlightenment, sarcastic or non-, welcome!

i can understand why a lot of people don’t like the fashionista culture around them, and i don’t know if i’d even enjoy let alone own one myself as i’ve never had a go on one. that said, liking bikes and anything mechanical as i do, there’s a real elegance in the simplicity of their design, it you ask me.

if i were you i wouldn’t worry about it until you know if it was taken any further, then just say as and when that it was meant as a joke, no offence intended and apologise. not really much more you can do.

as soon as they went to the ads in the middle of the game(!) there was never any chance that the winning goal wouldn’t then be scored…

    disgraceful!

a man went to see a fortune teller and she said to him, “great news – you’ll have an amazing life, everything will work out how you want and you’ll be perfectly happy.”
the man punched her in the face, knocking her out. when she eventually came round she dizzily said to the man, “what did you do that for?”

he said, “well, you know me – i always like to strike a happy medium.”

why would you want to put them under the headtube in the scenario you describe? if you really want to keep the length of steerer then just put the stem where you want and stick a load of spacers on top. will look strange but shouldn’t be a problem.

How does it mount and will it work on, say, a 6 of diamonds?

well played – the deceptively subtle buildup meant the latter part caught me off guard, causing an embarrassing desk-based laugh concealment

i’m building an uberbike, and speccing more expensive dream components than i’ve admitted the cost of to my other half. but when selecting the correct method of keeping the wheels attached the only real answer is shimano steel. got a pair of xt off ebay for £20. can’t argue with that.

Is something in checked baggage less suspicious than something in hand luggage?

don’t know, but i always assume that if it looks vaguely weapon-like they’re less likely to be worried if you have no way of accessing it than if it’s at your side.

well no, as i mentioned i wouldn’t have thought they would. i’d just buy something else that you can get delivered, there are plenty of alternatives to trek.

i have no qualms about downloading and burning a replacement for a cd that i paid money for.

(actually my general attitude to downloading is fairly qualmless, but that’s another story…)

just spoke to stif, they’re honouring the prices agreed when i placed the order, despite the fact that they’ve not despatched them or charged my card yet… lucky, just in the nick of time!

if you don’t like their policy, just buy something else. they’ll soon change their ways. (well maybe not that soon, if ever… but you won’t have to go and pick the alternative up in person)

good start that! i’ve got a similar sized scar round the side of my head that had a similar number of staples in it when i fractured my skull, but nobody took and pictures, sadly :D
