Very well timed thread as I need some new pads for some M615 brakes. On the basis the S5 is sold at at SSCs, any good tips on alternative good value and good quality pads?

As I’ve said in another thread on this recently, my Dolan Prefission with 105, alu frame and carbon fork was well under £1,000. Very happy with it so far, excellent bike.

I had the GP 4 seasons on my Pompetamine and suffered endless punctures.

Same for me (even the bike model!) – I had been getting unacceptable amounts of punctures with GP4 season, and always on the back. I’ve replaced it with a Gatorskin which is holding fast for now, but it’s fairly early days…

BBB Uni mount – the one I went for instead of that ^^^, at half the price again (and it’s the same).

I used to live in Enfield, North London and door to door it would take me around 80mins to get to work at Waterloo (13miles).

Assume you don’t mean riding, at that pace… in which case, why didn’t you ride? 😕

I put together my Dolan Preffisio for well under that budget with full 105, mudguards and good wheels. No discs, but other than that definitely worth a look. Alu frame with carbon fork, very nice to ride.

I can’t find FM Radio on Play Store, presumably it’s bundled with Samsung proprietary ROM installation. I can sideload it if the APK is available anywhere – if you have Titanium Backup you could put it on Dropbox for me to download and sideload?

I was expecting bad things. Fair play to him, pretty much nailed it and it’s faster by the middle than the original recording as well I’d say. That EP is so good, Deception is now stuck in my head on a loop…

It’s a shame you can’t see ?uestlove and Black Thought’s reactions to the performance, though!

No idea, I’ve never used it – different ROMs have different effects on the way the phone’s features operate. If you’re referring to a specific app, let me know which and I’ll check (as above – on SlimKat) for you.

The order I would follow would be to root it, then install Clockwork ROM Manager onto it, then do a full backup of the current setup, then install the new ROM. That way if anything does go wrong which IME is unlikely, or if you just don’t like the change, you have a full backup to restore which will put the phone back into exactly the same state as at backup.

Edit – Clockwork also makes switching, managing, installing and dealing with recovery and ROMs far easier. Get that on there first after rooting.

Yes, it’s super easy to do and makes a big difference. I had Cyanogenmod on it for quite a while which was really good, but switched a little while ago to SlimKat which is even better – faster and better battery life, plus a lot of nice little integrations and features for customisation.

Also watch The Crash Reel [/url]for an insight into what a lot of the competitors think about boundary pushing in similar sports, and into how it can pan out.

Is it just me or is everything the “analyst” says complete bollocks? It had nothing to do with landing “further down the landing” or “his body not being ready”, and everything to do with being under-rotated when the back wheel touches down, surely? 😕

I would say that the majority of reasonable people being as objective as they could would agree that there are similarities between the two designs. Whether or not there was inspiration or worse that led to that similarity we will likely never know, and I would guess will never be tested in a claim (if AG has any sense).

it’s hard to copyright a combination of colours

Didn’t Orange (the phone company) copyright orange (the colour) and try to stop Easyjet using it?

That’s trademarking by the way, not copyright – you don’t actively copyright anything, the right exists as soon as the “work” is created. So it would still (likely) a breach of the copyright in that Singular jersey above to for example replicate the design of it but with different wording.

Not the same as Orange trademarking the use of orange (which by the way is very hard to do and relies on sustained use on a widely recognisable level – even Cadbury’s couldn’t manage it with purple).

A truly frustrating task… if it helps, ignore the instructions – the logical order is not the same as the order they suggest when it comes to trimming the struts and fitting the little end caps.

As a general rule I do not undertake at all as it’s too risky. If I am as sure as can be that it is safe I will do it, but only with care.

More than happy to overtake / filter down the middle – people tend to do less unpredictable things in the middle of the road + there are (normally) no pedestrians to worry about!

I have DHB Roubaix Shorts, 3/4s and Tights. They are so comfy and good value I can’t see why you’d get anything else.

I would – they are excellent, can’t be beaten for value and even more so at that price.

Edit – isitafox has basically said all this already!

A good suggestion I read recently for a pullups workout if you can’t do many is to aim for ten – do as many as you can in one go, then rest for a minute, do as many as you can again. Repeat until you get to a cumulative total of 10. If that is too easy, do the same but aim for 20. Do that two or three times a week.

By the time you can comfortably get to the total aimed number in one go a few times, you can increase the aim by 10.

At the end of the day it’s a bottom bracket rotating at not more than 200rpm, it’s not a central bearing in an RB11 jet engine.

Speak for yourself – personally I doubt there’s much to choose between the two, power-wise.

Cheers, is it cheapest option to get their ring (or On One’s), and get bolts elsewhere or is there a retailer that does a decent combo deal on both that anyone’s gone for recently?

I’ve two very lightly used 5700 105 chainsets in 170 and 175 from some crank length experimentation sitting in the parts box that I could do a good price on being? and colour?

Having both Tiagra and 105 brakes, I would say get the 105s – they definitely feel better in use. Cassette, I would go Tiagra for the sake of 50g – not worth the extra cost and it’s something that will be replaced several times so no point going extra. Chinese carbon seatpost would be my choice.
