Personally I’d go with all black finishing kit, Ultegra to match the frame and I would get tape and seat to match the colour of one of the stripes on the frame as far as possible. I realise that is controversial, but I like a bit of colour and it would all coordinate beautifully. :)
Loads of Flyxii stuff is on Amazon, so in theory you would get UK consumer protection via Amazon as the retailer I assume (though wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve got some sort of grey area technicality to get round that).
hora, I’m doing a 60 mile spin from North London first thing Sunday morning if you fancy it – you can take the carbon one or the aluminium one and see which you prefer if you like :)
I may have a few games you can have as well if you’re interested – I was sorting them out last night and they’re probably old enough that they’ll get nothing on ebay. I’ll list them later on, don’t worry if you don’t want them!
I am north, yep – N8 like you used to be, right? Bad timing!
Thanks for the info about the door, though – that’s encouraging at least. She’ll definitely want to find and try one I imagine – if anyone can help out it would be appreciated. :)
Well we’re pretty sure that the dimensions are ok for the wheelchair, but my wife particularly is nervous about just ordering one without knowing how easy it will be to actually operate the doors and move the chair in and out of the unit. We’re a bit tight for space where it would go, so the end-opening single bike unit looks like a good option provided it is actually usable for her.
Ta – I did ask their online assistant person, and she said they only have them to look at at their Bradford factory… if anyone knows any London-area stockists that would also be useful.
I’ve got these on both my road bikes, very nice. For alternative colours, I got mine from Triton Cycles – not £25 but the best price I found when I was looking around for them. Looks like they may have gone up a bit, mind – I think I paid £35 for mine.
I was looking at some stuff online earlier and was reminded of this thread – Flyxii stuff is on Amazon, loads of it on there and you’re going through a UK retailer so presumably get UK Sale of Goods Act protection…
Apart from the mildly tricky tapping, all you’re doing is undoing a nut, cutting something and tightening the nut back up. It’s no harder than shortening a gear cable.
It is really incredibly simple. One of the highest differences between expected complication and actual ease of any bike job there is. The hardest part is tapping in the new insert into the cut hose. I grip the hose with pliers and tap it in with a hammer, probably not textbook but I haven’t died yet!
