genius geometry is more long travel xc bike whereas remedy is more laidback & all mountain in its focus, It depends what you're after really

for what its worth I find the scott feels twitchy compared to my stumpjumper, and I feel like I sit on top of it rather than it being part of me.

Did that yesterday, it was hard work through the soft snow on the bridleways and I was glad to get to a minor road and a wheel track to ride in. Was good fun, though it was a bit nerve wracking along the 5 miles of rural canal – I couldn't see where the tow path ended and the canal started :?

had mine for about 5 months now, easy to set up to run tubeless, tyres seem bigger on the rim and they are still running true despite my efforts to taco them

I have used hope bolt through and hope bolt up rear conversions, the bolt thro I used with a Hope/Saint axle and track nut (I didnt want to use a QR as I was after a more solid feel), but it isn't as convenient as the bolt up cos you need to take a spanner out with you rather than just your trail tool. Try crc in the hope spares section.

in a couple of rooms the previous owners had 'papered' the walls with polystyrene insulation from a builders merchant, this was then cross lined with normal lining paper and this really made the walls a lot warmer to the touch with no noticeable condensation

I have similar issues with my house (thick stone walls and damp), with my walls it is mostly condensation and the only real solution I've found is running a dehumidifier almost constantly through the colder months

this was the route posted on the internet last year

I rode Whinlatter the previous day to last years event and there looked to be much use of forest roads rather than just doing the Altura a few times

I've got the Giro Xen in a medium and quite fancy a Kaos, and after trying them on found I need a large in the Met, I'm still not decided though after not getting on well with the straps.

Our festive ride too, bikes are tinseled up and lit with xmas lights, santa hats on and a loop of Sherwood Pines with mid way break for Mulled wine & mince pies then into the Dog & Duck for food, ales and a spot of prize giving :D

Love the original Italian Job opening, the Lamborghini Muira dirving through the Stelvio Pass with Matt Monroes soundtrack, beautiful!

Saving Private Ryan is just amazing, really puts you there, which is an uncomfortable 20 mins.

LOTR opening with the dark cate blanchett monologue, pretty good too

after getting through external bb's at an alarming rate (1 every 3 or 4 months on average) I bought a chris king one back in april, its still early days perhaps but it only has to last a year for it to prove more cost effective than the cheap ones. Regreasing is a quick job with the specific tool and it never feels anything less than perfect. so, so far so good!

    vdubber67 – What's Clumber Park like?

clumber is ok, some nice bits of woodland singletrack, its mostly flat and can get filthy in some areas over the winter but there are lots of unmarked paths to go at. As Dawson says no real gnarl but a few sweet bits and provides sheltered riding when its windy too.

I usually do a ride on a Monday night which loops the park and varies between 12 – 16 miles

    Bike: Stumpjumper fsr
Front tyre: bonty mud x 2.0
    Rear tyre: panaracer trailraker 2.1
    Type of riding: woodland xc
Your thoughts on said combo: good grip from both ends until they become totally overwhelmed by deep mud, trailraker doesn't handle roots as well as the rear bonty used to, but it lasts much longer!
    or other wheelset…
    Front tyre: specialized eskar
    Rear tyre: specialized eskar
    Type of riding: peaks xc
Your thoughts on said combo: good grip on rocks – really confidence inspiring, but poor in muddy fields

thanks for a great ride today everyone, good to meet you all, big cheers to pook for organising it all – even if he did miss the last third with some mechanical excuse/issue, it was bonus to get out in some good weather too!

love the hope tech brakes, they have been faultless and after 3 years of high maintenance juicy 5's and ultimates it feels great to have a product that just works

I'm a medium in a Giro but need a large Met, both seem to fit fine I prefer the strap arrangement on my Giro Xen to the Met Kaos tho

which car park pook? is it…
    1. the free yorkshire water one with the loos
    or
    2. the ladybower inn?

Hi Pook hopefully I'll be there this week!

At the risk of too many chefs routes spoil the broth… this is the route i'd suggest which is similar to one you posted – avoiding the trudge up Crookhill but missing the Hagg Farm descent and steep Wooler Knoll.

A similar ride to this 2 years ago (4 of us had between 6 to 12 punctures each) made me decide to try a stans tubeless kit with my standard tyres. Since then I haven't regretted it and only had a couple of flats – due to me ripping a sidewall and letting the fluid dry out – doh

    thefallguy

you'll need your mud tyres at the minute, lots of standing water too.

I have regrettably had to give up riding my hardtail, (admittedly its an old hardrock which feels quite unforgiving) but I was suffering last year with bad knees and lower back pain – which has since gone.
