There is a play area and woodland walks, it's nicely landscaped and pitches are more private than most. It's not far into kippford where there are nice walks and two good pubs. Only downsides are the road runs close to the touring pitches and an old showerblock which is 5 mins away from the tent area

That's what I replaced my 5.1's with and they have been really good, much better rim IMO stiff and less prone to dings than the dt's.

Myself and a couple of mates rode yesterday saw quite a few riders out but we stayed away from fairhomes so didn't seem that busy. Was just a stunning day, dry fast trails you forget over the winter just what its like!

I was shattered when I got home, but then we did 52 hard miles. Rode to Doncaster station 4 miles then train to Hathersage, route went like this… up Shatton Moor, drop into Bradwell, up Pindale, down Cavedale, broken road to Mam Tor, Hollins Cross down to Edale, Jaggers Clough to Hope Cross down the Beast, along side of Ladybower to permissive path back up Win Hill, down Hope Brink to Dam across dam and climb up to Stanage Edge, down Stanage Plantation, Lady Cannings Plantation to Ringinglow then drop down back into Sheffield along the BW to Hunters Bar, bit of urban back to Station then train back to Doncaster & 4 mile warm down home, epic day.

I've got my ticket so I'll be there Sunday, does anyone know how secure the bike storage is on the day? Don't really want the day to end in tears if I decide to take my bike.

Nice pics Simon, myself and a couple of friends were up in the lakes at the end of March and were inspired yo ride through it – thanks to your snowy photos of Cathedral Cavern (and your instructions of how to find it) had a great time riding through and clambering down the cavern, it really topped off one of my favourite rides in the lakes. Many thanks :-)

Hi Mark been wondering how you've been getting on. On BBC breakfast news this morning some people had chartered coaches some had found some public spirited taxi drivers to take them to Calais. Looks like you're stuck unless you want so spend some serious money mate! I'd sit tight and load your credit card up if I were you :-). Make sure you don't miss wednesdays ride tho!!!

IMO you should buy the best forks you can afford, you can always swap them to a new bike/frame when the time comes.

I've some adaptalites and I love em but i don't use em at night – they do go clear enough to ride but its like running the light on the next brightness down so why bother?

Looks like some big days out there. I did a similar route to your little langdale route which was really good – our loop was longer but had less road miles which might suit you more, also takes in a ride through a cave/quarry which is just bizzare. see link http://ridewithgps.com/trips/26363

ditto rockthreegozys experience, I have used them twice, and they were out of stock both times, but did hear from them and it did arrive when promised which was good, I just hate sellers who take your money then tell you there is a stock issue

Specialized mtb airtool here, its a large volume fast lightweight pump. My previous topeak pumps used to die fairly frequently, whereas the spesh one has been fantastic and is into its 3rd year. Cheap too £12.99

I don't think it seems that expensive when you consider it is unlikely to break (how much for that Ritchey carbon post? FFS!), the finish lasts better than most and you'll be able to sell it for a good price when the time comes. Bargain IMO

Chatsworth and Bakewell in the White Peak were fairly dry today, just one or two bits that were still wet, not muddy tho – well to be fair there was some muddy bits but they had a dry line or two through them – does that count?

I sold my vision 4 last September and bought a Maxx D, no regrets so far. The light output is hardly any different, but I prefer the mounting system its much easier to whip on and off the bike, there is no cable rub to worry me and I like the rear led power indicator too. Just decide if its worth the extra money!

Have a look at bogtrotters website lots of good routes to choose from courtesy of SFB, photos and ride reports give a good idea of what to expect if you are unfamiliar with the area. Grizedale Parkamoor & Coniston loop is a great route really varied.Borrowdale Bash with the cheeky bits is good too.

personally my fave route is to Park in Ambleside climb up onto Loughrigg fell down to Elterwater across to Little Langdale>High Tilberthwaite>Hodge Close>High Oxen Fell>Up to Iron Keld>Down Arnside>Double back through Tongue Intake Plantation> Little Langdale > through Chapel Stile quarrys >Elterwater> Red Bank road > Loughrigg terrace back to Ambleside

Mine snapped on the STW ride on Sunday :(
it was a new shape qr version, lbs is sending it off to hope, shame really as I'd just been bigging it up to a fellow rider, saying how it didn't slip and was easy to open and didn't squeak – doh!

Save your money and get a glass family size pasta Jar! If you've a power link take chain off stick it in a the jar with hot water and washing up liquid and shake, repeat a couple of times, rinse, wipe down and dry off on a radiator, lube and put back on bike.

I think the chain will last longer than the degrease route as you're not stripping the chain of all its lube inside the rollers, rather you are mostly washing of the grit and dirt. works for me :-)
