Pimp the turner, its a biking icon.

IMO its a bit like having an old ferrari and deciding to get rid to buy a new hot hatch cos its quicker to 60.

its looking like a good turnout for saturday, should be a good day, I was in the pines tonight and it was mostly dry with only the most die hard muddy sections refusing to dry out totally.

Bontys are a good allrounder, don’t discount them, I have a few riding mates who swear by them as a year round tyre. Magazine reviews are often biased to the ‘latest must have’ type products, best to see for yourself.

Ride em for a month or two and then decide where to splash your cash.

business as usual i think, if you’ve got some lights wednesday is late night opening for the shop and there is usually quite a few groups of night riders about in the forest

if you really must have a sticker, why not buy a frame sticker kit off ebay?

personally I think some bigger alloy wheels should be your first step, or limo tints so folks cant see your bike in the back

I was in Dalby this morning and was glad I’d left my mud-x’s on, there was enough gloop to have clogged my fair weather tyres. Overall conditions were really good, some newly repaired sections seem to use an orange stone that was sticker than the older unrepaired sections. Some of the old woods towards the end were a bit slashy, but dalby is mostly hardpack so you won’t be far out whatever you decide.

Went into bike shop in Pickering and the locals were all saying how muddy it was compared to last week, felt like taking them to sherwood pines to show em some real filth.

I prefer the stans latex as the crystals in it seem to bridge gaps better than others imo. snakebites don’t always heal without a patch

I think its a funny summing up, but not one I can really agree with. I like this forum for its diversity of opinion not because we call all be summed up in a few lines.

I bought mpart cable guides and after 6 weeks they had cut into the brake hose causing it to leak. This is because they didnt clamp the avid cable tightly enough, avid cable too small, really small allen bolt feels weak too. So buy the hope guides for your top tube!

can you see any signs of leaks? if no telltale puddles of fluid then just do it again, did you follow the youtube instuctions? there is a couple more steps that they do.

Jim its only a couple more weeks and then you wont need them

Was good Monday really dry, was worried about Wed night after the bad weather on Tuesday but trails were still mostly ok just some standing water in places.

Still on for the 14th then!?

abductee: do you want one mailed to your new address?

James, there is some crossover as the new trails utilise some of what was already there before.

    Key to Trails as follows….

solid white line with blue centre = Kitchener trail

solid white lines = Most popular singletrack or routes I use most

Solid Red lines = original (pre Kitchener) doubletrack

Dashed red lines = original singletrack

smaller dash red lines = original singletrack + more technical /overgrown/ muddy etc

brown lines = fireroads and doubletrack

    hope this helps

if you look at the map in the above thread the cafe is about 100m to the left of the cycle shop. So on the day park up and from the carpark if the shop is directly opposite then the cafe is to the right 100m away just past toilets. Just follow the hoards of stw crew

Personally I can’t bear ‘handheld’ movies, Blair Witch is another fine example. Borrowed it on bluray and failed to see the point of HD with this movie.

Cheers abductee, I’m happy for you to link to the map, I can email a high quality pdf if you wish. it was born out of me wanting to string together routes for our regular wednesday night rides, and I know it may be hard to follow but I posted it as it seems better than the one Paul at the shop can offer riders.

Pinenut was my previous incarnation, but as I tend to fall off a lot… new name

crank bros do some shims that fit under the cleat, as eggbeaters are hard on shoes, so they would probably work for you

really good pack, not too big, with 3 litre bladder, ipod/phone pocket, expandable outer helmet/jersey pouch, inner pocket big enough for a jacket & gloves and pocket with compartments for tools etc. very comfy for all day provided you don’t over stuff it.

Sorry to hear that Grumm, pro burglers usually wait 2 months – thats so you have time to replace all the stuff they nicked so they can nick it again. Luckly doesn’t sound like they were pros. Can’t belive the anti mac sentiment either, ignorance is bliss amongst the “i’m a computer” crowd though.

got a specialized airtool mtb, it has been really good. it’s not that small but is very light, just £10, and is easily the best trail pump I’ve had. Every topeak pump I’ve owned only lasts about 6 months so I’d steer clear of those.
