Why not use the van money to get a new shape type r, lots of space inside for your bike, cant believe how much more practical new model is, some good deals to be had at the moment too.

Chapel Gate has become very eroded, challenging/difficult/impossible* in places unless you opt for the bale at the side

*delete as appropriate depending on skill level

shouldn’t we pronounce all these foriegn words in English? Watch the voting on eurovision to see how johnny foreigner says ‘united kingdom’. Likewise we don’t attempt a french pronounciation of Paris, so why not Anglisise these names, its not our fault they are spelt incorectly for us to achieve the right pronounciation.

(Can you tell I pronounce most of the mentioned names incorrectly?)

Well made, good residuals, low running costs, massive array of extras to be had from new so best to do homework to find what you want on yours – just try specing one on the mini website!. At least make sure they have the chilli pack. If you don’t need something the size of a golf then its a good choice.

i think that both have their merits, shimano has better jockey wheels and better quality overall, but sram 1:1 shifting means its less sensitive to cable stretch and easier to set up the indexing, has a heavier clunkier but faster gear change, also rear mech seems to rattle around less than shimano.

Have a look at a bike from Specialized with the zertz inserts, a much comfier ride when you’ve a bit more give in the frame.

have used saftey onrs off ebay see above link, they do scratch easily thought but are so cheap its not really an issue. If you have the cash buy the spesh adaptatite ones cos they are really versatile.

from Langsett do the cut gate path and keep going, drop down to ladybower round the reservoirs taking in climb or two (hagg side etc) then back over the cut gate, classic route! can be an all dayer if you take in diversions, win hill, the beast etc etc. lots of info online.

a group of us ride sherwood pines every wednesday and (Anthony) the fastest amongst us (by a long way) rides a rigid single speed, bugger!

with a bit of careful alignment they work fine, but if 1 piston is stronger than the other the caliper will be slightly offset and clips the connecting rings. Like MrNutt says it will wear and sort itself, or you can faff about with your set up – looks great though!

should be great, be great to ride ‘en masse’

Anthony – will probably park at the usual place and cycle in, unless I’m feeling flush!

my 07 stumpy still feels factory fresh and it gets a lot of hammer, frame will last with maintenance, but your heart will start to desire the latest must have

sounds like a plan! we usually set off with a route and adjust as we go along, I imagine some rides will know some other good bits they will want to take in.
