bars level or slightly lower for general trail riding, drop your saddle for gnarly downs. IMO generally you need some weight over the front of your bike to help with turn in bite etc

MBR looks like most volume mags in its look/style, in contrast Singletrack seems out on a limb and looks like its dropped out of 1982 seeming almost anti-design in its overall feel.

I run three chains and rotate after every ride, sram chain so easy off then into a clean jar with hot water and drop of washing up liquid, shake and repeat til clean. dry and then coat in nytralube chain lube which keeps the cassette really clean compared to oil lubes

i’d be up for that adey all being well.

How was your race yesterday? Did you set the course alight – i heard there was a fire in pines

I’d vote for ambleside-loughrigg-elterwater-little langdale-high oxen-iron keld-loughrigg type loop, it will afford you some shelter, there is none to be had on helvellyn. Whinlatter is great for 2 or 3 hrs if you want a shorter days riding.

rode most of the course today, it took a few interesting turns and was very fast, conditions look to be about perfect, hope you ‘ave a gud un’ Adey :D

you should lay a few traps for the unsuspecting riders (in a Dick Dastardley stylee), a few drainage ditches on the outsides of bends should do it!

if the mech hanger is bent no amount of tinkering will achieve a perfect result, so check that first. I bent mine and yet it looked fine till I checked alignment.

next: release cable at the rear mech and check the chain drops into the smallest gear. adjust limit screw, tighten up cable then manually push mech to largest cog and adjust limit screw. then muck about for a min or two to get the indexing right.

If its still ghost shifting it could be a worn rear cassette or the cable outer could be too tight and when the suspension compresses it tightens the cable and causes your mech to shift.

I wish I could ride all the way down the track, but we’re not all riding gods – I just haven’t got the skills or the bottle.

why not just pinch a route off sfb! lots to choose from on the bogtrotters site :D
borrowdale bash is good but I prefer ambleside/elterwater/little langdale/iron keld/loughrigg loop as there is less road work.
IMO Whinlatter is good for 2 or 3 hrs in the late afternoon rather than a day out

pines doesn’t claim to be anything like Stainburn, well worth a visit if you like xc singletrack but if you want something technical look elsewhere

Looks like you had great weather and the top looked fairly dry, which would make a change.

Fozzy, the down back towards langsett is great, flatish and more technical at the top and gets faster as you cross the ford, its my fave peaks downhill.

my eskar controls had porous sidewalls (just like the mud-x) and only stayed up for an hour or so without sealant.

bike not fit for purpose, demand a replacement from the shop, have a talk to your local trading standards to find out your rights.

Weren’t the signs stolen a few months back too? all the Kitchener signs were there on Sunday and looked ok, the blue ones for the adventure trail still seemed incomplete and are awful looking blue stakes.

Spesh Captains on a stumpjumper, loving the dry conditions, much faster rolling than the mud-x that have done sterling winter service
