Snipers are usually in a minority. Its best to simply ignore them, they must be unhappy people, or they wouldn’t want to bring anyone else down. If everyone starts snipeing, just turn off the laptop and they all disappear.

just emptied them and refilled again, this time they sucked down a bit, about 30mm. A tap on the headset sent them a little lower. I’m hoping its just sticking on the seals.

No it didn’t suck down! I totally emptied it and it just stood tall. However, when I was refilling, I noticed that the pressure dropped slightly on the shock pump at each stage after the 10mm strokes. This made me think the air was passing to the other chamber.

and as you say, relatively cheap, £101 with postage. Not bad every 2 years.

Cheers MrPlow, its kind of you to do that. I’ve definitely got the air set up right now, totally emptied it, then refilled a bar at a time and worked the suspension by 10mm at each stage. I’ll try your settings and see how I like them, might speed the process up a bit for me.

batman11, that is good to know, thanks for sharing the link. They use fox seals, so for a plain service it doesn’t matter whether Bos send them parts or not. Its just if you need more than just seals and oil that you may be in trouble.

cheers mrplow. Ive read about setting the negative chamber, I’ll do that now to make sure. Do you know what settings you have ended up with in terms of number of clicks?

Cheers bwaarp. Thankfully I’m not looking for plush, it was just a bit extreme yesterday. I let a bit of air out tonight and that made it less harsh, not plush. I’m using 150mm of the travel now compared to 140mm on the same run yesterday, and that seems more appropriate for this run. However, I felt I lost some of the feel today. I might try playing with the rebound tomorrow to speed that up a touch. I think I’ll leave slow and high speed compression alone for now. At least until I’ve read about what they actually do! I’m enjoying the learning. Cotic Rocket with Bos Deville is a dream to play on. I feel like superman coming down the hill and I’m also able to ride straight back up it. Its perfect.

Ive been in eye hospital after scratching my eyeballs a few times. I always try to wear clear glasses. I’ve tried safety specs, they are ok, but not as good as these

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=53300

These are light and stick to your face, you forget you are wearing them. The last thing you want is them bobbing up and down on your nose over rough stuff.

cheers fellas, I almost didn’t want to check back again in case someone had written about a bad experience!

Joining NFU tomorrow, peace of mind, might even stop sleeeping with the bike……. some nights at least.

My neighbour was in a bike shop in leamington spa a few days ago, and he told me when he returned that this bike shop were going to start distributing/servicing BOS products. I forget (didn’t even listen)to the name of bike shop.
I fkn hope this is the case as my devilles arrived today and I’ve just cut them to size!

thanks Sean and Andy. I’ll try both of those.

    wheelie, do you mean NFU?

anyone out there got experience of a company with good service in the event of theft? or alternatively others to avoid? esure are cheap but absolute winkers by the sound of things, so only placebo insurance.

it seems that esure are complete robbing feckers according to many online reviews. http://www.reviewcentre.com/review777670.html

Not going to trust them despite being cheap.

So, any other recommendations for insurance? please?

does anyone have experience of esure?

I have a cotic rocket, built up myself, don’t have receipts for all the parts, so was worried when I read the following.

    Item value
This is the cost of replacing the specified item, we will need to see an original (not a photocopy) valuation which must be less than 3 years old. If the valuation is more than 3 years old, a new validation will be required.

I have LX brakes from 2007 on my hardtail. never had any issues, so don’t understand the seal thing.

If I were buying cheap brakes, I’d buy SLX.

I asked this question a few weeks ago.

I now have hope tech m4 with 203 180. They are really good. If you want your bike to look good then buy them. If this is of no interest, consider saving money and get SLX. By all accounts they work really well. Loads cheaper, but they look a bit naff.

I would recommend a 203mm rotor on the front. The shimano ice tech are good. My bike doesnt feel over braked. They provide effortless braking and great control. Bit of a **** to set up though, its got to be said. but now they are set up they are no hassle at all.

I read many poor user reviews of the monarch that put me off. maybe its ok, never used one.

Youve got to get el guapo with a ccdb surely?! Thats where I’d be going. I was considering an elguapo but didn’t fancy a monarch shock. Ive got a rocket with rp23, which is great, but I would have got the elguapo and saved the cash if they’d been doing the ccdb.
    Looks great raw.

Yes I have, at Revolution bike park!!! It was a mud bath. basically slid down 3 runs on my arse/face/knees and went home!

I agree, they are very nice blokes. I might go back now its dry, but even then it will be beyond my ability. But sometimes thats the best way to get better.

Ive heard other people say their hope m4 squeal when wet. Mine don’t, not had them long, but about 5 wet rides in and not a single squeal. I really like them. Running them with ice tech rotors, 203/180.

attempted this tonight, it was nothing like shown in the instructions from gnusmas, so I just dismantled it and looked for an obvious spacer. There wasn’t one that I could see. There was a pressed part. And I flipped this around, had to remove an internal circlip to do this. Reassembled, but it seems to now adjust between 170mm and 140mm, rather than 150mm.

Has anyone done this swap on the marzocchi 2012 55 CR switch (170-130mm) fork? If so, please tell me what you know.

I also had a painful start with tubeless. I feel your joy brother.
I have found those plug repairs to be pretty reliable. Worn tyres out with them in.

Lexs are 300. you need to buy the tubeless kit though, which is another twenty.

would this be ok for the dropper post…..just to keep it lightly lubed……. “
    it certainly helps my reverb

    theendisnigh

I’ve have a reverb for 15months, I felt like you, so I made a mudguard, it fell off, I thought bollocks to it, lifes too short.
I now clean and grease (fork grease) the shaft after every ride. I also take it out of the bike to let any water evaporate. It is still working like new. It started getting a bit sticky when I wasn’t using the grease, I was having to get all my weight on the seat to start it off moving, but now it is perfect. Its worth looking after it, but no need for a mudguard in my experience.

Yes sorry my mistake the myka is 30.9 I got a little confused.

seat post sizes are confusing. Incompatibility of parts can be very depressing. Could be another thread………….

I did that once, exactly the same except my jump launched higher. Won’t be doing it again, broke my elbow. it wasn’t right for a year. landed on the front wheel a few times previously and thought I’d get my weight right back. Trouble is, it fully compresses the shock, when it rebounds it sends you over the bars. Lesson learnt.

it does say low top tube, so maybe it will be ok…. its getting her feet to reach the ground that worries me rather than reaching the bars.

hmmm that evil sovereign looks just right, its probably too big for her, but I can pretend it won’t be and then keep it for me.
