cheers, I’ll get the black chilli DH then. Its a big price difference so thought I’d better get a confirmation that its worth it. Thanks.

I’m also considering some full on spikes for the odd occasion that I need them. (I’m thinking of when I’ve been sliding on my face down the track at Revolution bike park)

I’m going to get Conti Barons.

Just wondering, is it really worth paying extra for the black chilli?

OK, so I’m going to get some Barons.

Is it worth paying for the black chilli?

Or are the cheap versions good?

ELZORILLO, for what its worth, I think you did the right thing. When you’re being bullied sometimes you just have to stick up for yourself. The trouble is, when you fight someone far bigger than you, you can’t really afford for them to get back up. When he poked you in the chest he was offering you a choice, back down and be controlled by him or take the gamble of fighting a far bigger man. You took the gamble and won. Embrace this victory. Stop making yourself feel bad about it. Look in the mirror and chant, ‘I AM A TIGER! GRRRR!’

got my northwave celcius boots today from bikediscount.de (ordered sunday night), just tried them on and somafunk was quite right, they are a half size out. Luckily I trusted his words and got half a size up.

    Good call somafunk. Thanks.

I’ve ordered Northwave Celcius (non arctic variety) from bike discount, £90 delivered. Hopefully it will help, if nothing else it will give me more time to dry my current shoes between rides.

Just tried my wet suit boots on and then tried to get foot into existing shoes. No chance in hell.

I might give the northwave boots a whirl, a very positive review above and they seem slightly cheaper than shimano

£3 for 3mm wet suit socks on amazon. I will check those out first. 2mm wetsuit socks at £15 on ebay.

New post. Which thickness wetsuit socks for mtb?……………

Prefer the look of the MW81’s to the MT91, Tweeks at £112 look the cheapest. Not exactly cheap but there you go, we keep on paying mad prices so they keep charging them.

I like the sound of the wet suit socks. They may solve my problem, you see….

….apart from the cold wet feet thing, another reason I like the look of the winter boots, is the added ankle protection. I find that I press/knock/bruise my medial malleolus (presumably into the rear triangle but not sure) when doing any kind of adrenaline descents with switchbacks. I don’t know I’ve done this until I stop.

Wet suit socks sound like they may reduce this, I could even stuff some padding down. I have some in the shed, but think they may be too thick. I’ll have a look for some thin ones.

    Cheers fellas!

Andyrm, what other good brakes have you used? I’m currently in the market myself and haven’t considered zee. Just checking you’re not one of these **** that post saying how great something is without anything to relate it to. 🙂

Onza, Why are you changing the V2’s?

Peasant, what is the lever adjustment like? and are the finned pads necessary? Expensive buggers.

actually that might be happening with mine, I bled it good and proper and it seemed to start off ok and get progressively worse. So A small leak would make sense.

no I haven’t watched that, will do that tonight.

Yes I checked the pressure and it seems ok. I did let all the air out at one point, because the seat post was locked down. But I refilled to 250psi.

Cheers for the video pointer, that should help.

I do think night rides on hallucinogenic mushrooms may be the only cure for you.
I got lost in the dark in my local woods last week, started geting a bit freaked out, couldn’t find the trail and it was getting too dense to ride. Then I came across a clump of fly agaric mushrooms and considered eating them. Luckily I thought better of it and found my way out.
But for you, I think you’ve got ‘the fear’ worse than me, I think you need to take the plunge with the mushrooms.

Go somewhere hot, you don’t need anything much then. I even ditched my tent in Italy one summer and just slept under the stars.

Thanks. When people say that the Rocket climbs well, does that mean smooth fire roads or loose rocky tracks I wonder and does it really climb well or is it just not as bad as you’d expect a very slack 150mm bike to be?

It climbs well in terms of it being a stable suspension platform. But the geometry is what it is. It is a handful on rutted ascents. I think dropping the suspension helps a lot in this regard, I had marzocchi forks on mine that would drop to 130mm. It was definitely a bit easier like that, I now have Bos 160mm and just have to suck it up. You get used to it to be honest.

To many cyclists don’t seem to understand that!

When I met my wife, she had been driving for about 10 years, but she didn’t know you need to dip your full beam when you are behind another vehicle, so wouldn’t dip until a car was coming the other way . In her defence, she is from a city where you tend to stay on dip, but still. She’d been doing that for ten years!

I have 3 of said lights now and they are good. I’m sure you can get better spread of light if you pay more, as they are quite ‘spotty’ but they are easily good enough. The batteries are good and they are powerful.

I have found a website that will give all the dvla vehicle data, 5 cars for £9.99.

I imagine the dvla data includes the address, but perhaps not?
