She is only 5’2″, so she does need xs, On One size guide suggests XS 14″ for 5’2″ – 5’7″ height riders.

Those carbon whippets are a steal………. must not buy for me…. must…. not…. buy ……for…….me!

Ive got shimano ice tech, I really like them. I’ve got 203 front and the black centre makes it look smaller, less like a dinner plate. Very light and work great.

I’ve just had some from crc.
I measured my legs, the calf was top limit of large, the thigh bottom limit of medium. I ordered medium, they seem fine, although not actually ridden in them. If they do stretch they may be a bit loose on the thigh, but the claf is quite snug so should be fine… I hope.

because we westerners can struggle with the philosophy, many classes are akin to aerobics. i.e. too fast and vigourous. Yoga is as much about breathing as it is about anything else. You relax the body with the breath and this allows you to move deeper into poses. It is a wonderful practice and I can’t recommend it enough. In my experience, it helps your entire being, physical/emotional the lot. It also fixed my back. and my mums back. It took me about 6 months before I understood its not about competitively forcing yourself into the splits. Its about letting go. Then I really started progressing.

I used to go to a class, but now just do it at home. I recommend you attend a class for the first year at least. Some classes are pants, find a good one.

I got a pair off ebay, I paid £20, got them in a couple of days. They seem ok to me. Never had a pair of oakleys to compare to but I’m happy with them.

I imagine going to 15wt would be too much unless you are 20 stone or something. Thats just my gut feeling. I was actually thinking of trying 5wt, as I’m only 10 stone, but I’ve definitely had second thoughts after reading you want to use 15 🙂

Someone told me that using 10wt oil made them less ‘boingy’, his words not mine!

Was the swap of the internal spacer easy? I need to do it on mine.

I chopped the remote end. dead easy. didn’t need bleeding. use a sharp stanley to get the hose off the barbed connector. Cut the hose with good cutters. ‘Thread’ the barb back in. Job done.

I’m only 10ish stone but use a 203mm front rotor. It is overkill for most of my riding, but on really long descents it is good to have.
I ordered slx as they are great value, but when I got them they were already cosmetically damaged and looked a bit errr naff. I thought bollocks to it, sent them back and ordered hope m4 special editions.
you might find this link useful, i did

The rims might look like cheap shiite without logos.
Strut with logos like a peacock with a lob on.

I cut a hole for a ground anchor in my shed base and before i knew it, I had a shed full of mouse shiite. I have now filled the hole with bitumen.

I put a ground anchor in when I set the concrete base for my shed/workshop.
I’m not keeping my new bike out there yet. I’m worried they might strip it for parts and leave the frame. Thats what I’d do if I was a scrote. Not easy to trace the parts.

If you only have one bike, then imo, you might as well get one that can have a go at anything.

In addition to setting up the levers for one finger braking, I found cheap foam grips helped a lot. Reduced my arm pump significantly

MBOY, I find Bonty Mud X to be a good all rounder, as do many others. And I have tried loads of tyres thanks. Tyre choice is an individual choice, and there are many variables involved in that. Saying someones opinion is ‘pish’ is pathetic. Is your opinion is the correct one? Ha. And he wanted cheap tyres, so your recommendation was as useful as a deep fried mars bar.

bonty mud x are a good all rounder, not the best at anything, but pretty good at everything

I think mine does that a bit, but perhaps not quite to the extent that you describe. Does it matter?

I’m a spotty forty year old, pretending he can ride, trying to out do his mates. Bike only cost three and a half grand though, so yes I totally agree, its those winkers on the five grand bikes! That’s who it is!!!

Has anyone got instructions or anything to help me strip the fork? Ive serviced fox forks before using youtube guides but I cant find anything for the marzocchi. I guess I just need to know what oil and how much.

I think its worth wearing as much as you can if it doesn’t bother you. I wear quite a lot in the winter but less when its warmer. My full length shin guards have deep scratches in them from sliding over rocks. My met parachute face guard has protected me in a bad fall, didn’t stop me breaking my arm, but saved my teeth. You get used to riding with armour on if its not too hot, it shouldn’t make you feel invincible, but it definitely helps.

yes ridden it in the mud about 5 times, the glossy black paint is getting scoured by my long muddy shorts, I recommend lycra shorts to avoid this!!! Youve got to use it regardless of the weather though. I’m already looking for a good powdercoater!
Get some helicopter tape for the cable rub. I missed a couple of spots and it rubbed right through the paint in one ride.

I’ve just built a rocket for 3.5, I got the rp23 with a hope headset for £1550, save a hundred by getting the float

I could have saved money on each of the following parts without it effecting performance
Reverb £200 (I think you need this)
Sram xo rear mech £150 (could save £50 here)
Hope M4 brakes (special edition paint job) £270 (get slx and save £130)
    wheels £300 (proabably save a £100 here)
XT crank £160 (Save £50 here)

    100+50+130+100+50= 430
so can be done for about 3 grand with a reverb.

I got a £400 marzocchi fork from winstanleys, very good it is too

You could easily build one for 3 grand without compromising.

As bikes get more capable, people ride faster and when mistakes are made its inevitably more damaging. Modern bikes/suspension flatter most peoples ability. Combine that with male competitiveness…it is a worry. My mate was lucky not to have a serious injury. When I got to him he was lying on his side, motionless, face mostly red with blood and cross eyed. It was like a horror film. Freaked me out big time, I thought he was brain damaged. I left to get an ambulance, got back 30 mins later fearing the worst. He was sat up being his normal dry, witty self, wiggling his toes and fingers. My relief was intense. I have just spent a fortune building my pride and joy, but I didn’t want it in those moments. Obviously sanity has now returned now my mate is officially mendable, although I might slow down a bit.

My mate rode straight into a tree at Cannock last Thursday. Broken nose, broken wrist, carried out on a spine board, luckily just muscular damage it seems spine is ok. He was lucky he has a strong neck. Be careful out there peeps!

Fake. Imagine the speed involved to get the rear wheel in the air like that. No way could he pull that pose, it would be happening far too quickly. We are all programmed to protect our faces in an event like that, no matter how crazy you are.

I haven’t used them yet, but I ordered 4 pairs of Clarks organic for £20 off crc last night.

I have used clarkes pads in the past (shimano lx brakes) and I found them to be generally good. Sometimes they seemed better than others though, as if the quality varies a bit, but generally they were good. I am going to give them a go again, 4 pairs for £20 is difficult to pass up.
