You can sneak down between some houses near the road junction that goes on to the pack horse, this takes you down the other side of the valley to jack bridge but brings you out in the same place, its a v.nice downhill run, you have to be careful tho cos you go past someones front door at one point.

I just set the limit stops on the derailluer so it can only cover 2 rings, im sure theres other ways to do it.

They used to hang folk in the woods where they do the model plane flying, gallows pole hill, theres a clue in the name i think. All in all its a pretty morbid place Norland moor and i lived half a mile away for 30 years………… Still a damn fine place to ride a bike, heres a question does anyone stay up there all day, like i sometimes do, or do most folk just pass thru?? Considering its size you can be there all day and not do the same path twice.

Couldn’t agree more, LBS’s aren’t the only ones feeling the recession!! And i agree with Bomberman about his LBS’s i suspect they’re mine too and both have unhelpful, vague, patronising and flat out bull artists on several occasions.

Came 3rd in the orienteering world championships when i was 14!!! Long time ago!!! Raced BMX in the 80’s but gave it up cos folk just took it way too seriously and it stopped being fun. Ridden MTB’s for almost 20 years now with a few years off here and there, i’ve got some good DH skills but my uphills really suck lately, stopped smoking at xmas and gained pounds and ride a patriot which aint the best climber!!

You’ve gotta trust your tyres, if you dont then you’ll always be taking it easy! And its so easy to have that trust knocked, when in all fairness if something goes wrong its easier to blame the tyres than yourself. If you think your tyres are awesome you’ll ride better regardless. Simple psychology i reckon. But thats not to say there aren’t some awful tyres out there……

SiB you’ve obviously not been to my town, you’d need eyes like Marty Feldman, one on the women and one on the chavs dribbling over your bike.

IMHO you can try all the tyres on the market but if you have one bad experience on a tyre its psychologically never gonna be good enough from then on really!!! Be honest with yourselves now cos i’m sure this is the case for alot of us!!!
