    How much sugar?

    The yeast eats the sugar.

Ended up prostrate on the bonnet.

On the flat and pulling about 25mph if that helps.

You stopped on the bonnet of the car, I doubt you were going 25mph, maybe 5mph?

Personally I wouldn’t bother taking it any further, you were barely hurt, truing your wheel won’t take long.

+1 for good stretching. Not a couple of half arsed efforts when you get in, I mean a proper range of stretches done well. Sports massage (or DIY on worst affected muscles) can help too.

I think supplements have their place, but I think I’d be wary of going for something that requires no effort (drinking a shake) over doing some proper stretching (effort + time). The stretching is free and might help.

Its not about stretching, its about replacing muscle glycogen and giving them the fuel they need to repair.

They are basically arguing whether or not it is better than food which to me is a pointless argument. Obviously most people would rather get protein from food but it’s not really practical to crack open a tin of tuna in the changing rooms at the gym or at the end of a ride, hence whey protein is an ideal substitute. There’s also the cost as well, try getting 300g of protein a day from food and see how much your shopping bill is!

Protein shakes are just a cheap and convenient way of boosting your protein intake.

You’re right, but no one needs 300g per day, 1g per lb of lean body mass max.

It will, but no more than a nice juicy steak, I know which one I’d choose.

still too heavy for the £££

Its not about the weight, more aerodynamics.

Well his looks built up roughly the same too, I have a 70mm stem and 720mm bars (although his are slightly wider), I don’t know how he rides though.

Post a photo of yours up mate.

There’s about 20mm variance in axle-crown heights for a given fork travel – Revs are in the middle, chunkier forks longer, Floats shorter.

I know mate, thats why I was asking Vorlich, we have the same forks 😉

Whats it like at 140mm Vorlich? Its 68.6 degrees with 25mm sag at 140mm, does that make it roughly 67 degrees static? Not that it matters, I will test it out tomorrow anyway.

Who cares how it looks?! How does it feel?

Im still waiting for parts, it should be finished tomorrow but from experience I would say at 140mm it will handle like a barge.

Are your forks set at 140mm Vorlich?

I just ordered some 20mm travel reducers for my RLC’s, mine looks pretty slack at 140mm.

    Vorlich, yours is bicycle pornography.

Mine should be here tomorrow, a box of bits arrived today from CRC, once its built up I will get some photos on.

A bit full of myself? Is there some kind of initiation before I’m allowed to speak my mind?

Put simply, the firebird isn’t a crazy choice. DW IS efficient, the bike doesn’t have to built heavy (easily in five AM territory).

I wouldn’t say DW is more efficient than single pivot when climbing at all, and the OP doesn’t own a Five AM by the sounds of it, so it should be a fair bit lighter than the Pivot.

Do you own a Pivot Firebird? If you do, and have ridden an Orange Five, then I apologise, you probably do know more than me on the subject.

There is no need to come across so offensive though, its the internet, people have different opinions, they aren’t automatically wrong because they don’t agree with you.

I love my Orange, but having a bike that can climb, descend and take a beating is very tempting….
    Am I being stupid?

The Pivot will probably decent better, I wouldn’t know because I haven’t ridden one, but I doubt it will climb any better, or take more of a beating than your Orange.

Did he have no idea what he was on about either?

I’m not arguing with you, obviously you review/test bikes for a living and are an encyclopedia of knowledge.

OP listen to Wrecker, no one else, he is god 😉

    Really?
Have you ever ridden a single pivot and a DW bike?
If you think that the SP is more efficient, you’re smoking crack.

I currently own an Ibis Mojo and an Orange Five, so obviously have no idea what I on about.

Obviously not ridden a 5 AM then mate.

    Neither does the OP 🙄

I don’t. Its happy with 160 forks, and the DW won’t bounce like a pogo under pedaling.

Obviously not ridden many DW link bikes then mate.

Opposed to an AM bike with 140mm of travel weighing roughly 32lbs.

No, a 140mm trail bike weighing 28 lbs.

Clearly you know more about bikes than me though, from your post count.

You must be an MTB god? I’ve noticed there are quite a few on here.

The I’ve ridden this thing in 100km events as its climbing efficiency is comparable to 4 inch race bikes but it descents like the 6.5 inch travel machine that it is.

    BS.

    thedon

I’d bet that DW firebird climbs better than a five.

    I doubt it very much.

Its an AM bike with 170mm of travel weighing roughly 32lbs.
