I was anticipating slideyness when I bought some 27.5+ rims but I’ve found the Spesh Purg 3.0 tyres really good in the slop. And not even at super low pressures either! Got em £20 an end too.

    Go do it.

If I was in your shoes I’d have the same concerns but my shoes are 8 yrs older and have 2 kids and 2 mortgages.

Plenty of days I wish I had your shoes.

I used to run a 120mm Reba on my Camber Evo. Swapped them out for a Pike and won’t go back soon. The Rebas are now on my xc ride. Fine for that and to be honest I thought they were fine on the full suss. Until I got the Pikes!

Nah – they’re going nowhere because I covered them in loctite red last time the buggers made a break for freedom.

Having consulted the Rockshox oil volume charts, they seem to be next to useless, so has anyone had success by filling with oil, inserting damper, threading top cap on loosely, dumping air and then compressing by hand until the excess oil leaks out the damper side?

Thanks for all the help chaps!

I’ve got a hunch I’ve over filled them with oil, but can’t work out why that would make the difference. I’ve just had them out again and can see the little low speed compression screw winding in and out.

They are the same as these:

I’ve done it over 2 days many times but did over one day last year. It is very hard. Took 14 hours total (about 12.5 riding). Hottest day of the year. Nearly got heat stroke!

Pick June/July for lots of daylight and a lightish hardtail is perfect. (I’ve done it full suss and rigid). My one dayer was on a Stanton Sherpa with 100mm forks.

It is a cracking ride though. Just don’t bother trying it in the rain as the chalk is too slippy and sticky. And don’t forget to stop and look at the view from time to time.

Royal Racing Matrix has been doing me proud this winter. The red/blue one is also loud enough to be spotted by dopey cars on the odd road section.

Fairly sure I saw the Oil Spill Response 727[/url] coming out of Farnborough today.

Nice looking old girl with a snazzy red nose.

Nah, just come back. It’s pretty much as you’d expect for mid January. Not exactly a slopfest but not great either.

YHA at Truleigh is a very good call.

Check out the Bikedowns website if you haven’t already.

You’re not planning on doing it until it gets drier amd the days longer are you? It’ll be a tough push in every sense of the word if you go this side of april!

a crack squad of bukake ninjas

That’s just made my day! Cheers tazzy

I once walked past a road sign that had a small sticker on it that simply read ‘Bukake ruined my carpet’.

Dunno why or who put it there but they deserve a pint.

I was there last week. Red 2 is worth a miss unless you have an ouboard, but the rest was fine.

I’ve recently got a chromebook with a touchscreen and android apps. Screen flips back on itself so I can hold it like a tablet.

It’s only medium quality Acer one (about £200) but I haven’t picked up my tablet since.

Me and riding buddy have taken to calling each other Andy and Lance.

However, his name was already Andy. So I’m Lance. Which is pretty accurate tbh.

    Thinking of getting a gazebo.

they all looked like variant of holly

Osmanthus, Berberis, Mahonia, Griselina, Camelia, Holm oak, … that’s it, I’m out. Anyone got any more?

My worst interview was for a sub-editor position. I was nervous so I had a pint before (bad idea). The interview was with a small, older attractive lady who I both fancied and was quite afraid of. I stumbled my answers, got a hot flush, and then stuffed the practical test on my apostrophes.

You never know, they may appreciate your honesty over all the blaggers out there. I’ve certainly hired the less technically able candidate over the nobber with all the answers.

My mate runs a little Strava club based in the New Forest:

    https://www.strava.com/clubs/gravelguerilla

They’re gravel bikers so the rides are non-technical and primarily off road. Have a look at some of their monthly club rides and download the gpx.

I’ve got one. Glad i bought it. Perfect for a non-technical fast blat around the fire roads and quiet country lanes. It’s light, responsive, and simple (no suspension and cable discs). Good in the summer evenings and good in the winter when mud means road detours around waterlogged trails.

I’ve still got a full-sus and a hardtail. And a rigid singlespeed semi-fat (just because). None could take the place of the gravel/cx.

I’ve even entered a cx race. I was crap. But it sharpened cornering skills up.

I’ve got a Gore Windstopper which has always surprised me by it’s breathability. Much better than my old dhd or RH+ ones.

Eastern end is muddy but not that neck breaking green/white stuff. Old Winchester Hill will be a bugger but it is short and nasty.

I’d say that you’re clearly mentally prepared so just do it! It’ll be fab. In fact I’m quite jealous. Can i come?

    Passengers ‘self-evacuated’ Tube station
British Transport Police say officers were called to Oxford Circus Tube station following reports of gun fire on the westbound Central Line platform.

“Passengers at the station then self-evacuated the station onto Oxford Circus and Regent Street area of London,” a statement said.

“This caused a significant level of panic which resulted in numerous calls from members of the public reporting gunfire. “Officers responded in line with our procedures of a terrorist incident, this included armed officers from British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police.

“A full and methodical search of the station and Oxford Street was conducted by officers.

“At this stage, we are examining the circumstances of the incident which resulted in the station being evacuated. “During the station evacuation, one woman is believed to have sustained a minor injury.”

    ‘No evidence of shots fired’
The Metropolitan Police says in a statement:

“To date police have not located any trace of any suspects, evidence of shots fired or casualties.

“Officers continue to work with colleagues from British Transport Police in the area of Oxford Circus.

“Updates will be provided as soon as we have them.

“If you are in building stay in a building, if you are on the street in Oxford Street leave the area.

“Officers are continuing to search the area.”

10spd shadow xt m785 works fine with a sunrace 42t on one of my bikes but on the other the same set up needs a wolf tooth extender thingy.

Worth the effort though. I’ve never ridden an 11spd but I’ve saved a bunch of cash not upgrading everything!

Edit – it’s called a goat link! Took a while but i got there in the end…
