I stick some gears and mudguards on the rigid mtb and carry on regardless. The full sus gets occasional outings when its dry enough not to kill me on a slippy berm.

Other than that a roller session and a run to keep me out of trouble (and to counteract the increased whisky and mince pie intake).

I was riding Peaslake last Friday eve and I seriously questioned why anyone would want to do this as a sport! But then mucking about on the new Swinley Summit skills park on Saturday reminded me! This is my 25th winter riding the slop.

    You’d think I’d learn…

You can uploads gpx to the os website. There is a small subscription fee. Dunno how you’d get them into your gps though.

Not cancelled yet here. I called then Tuesday and they didn’t seem to know what was happening.

Never try Shpock! I swear it’s just full of bots programmed to say “Is it still available?”.

    It’s how Skynet started I reckon…

I’ve throw a handful of oats in a bowl covered by boiling water, then a sprinkling of chia seeds and some frozen rasberriess/blueberries/summer fruits mix.

Then deliver a cup of tea to your sleeping wife and hey presto oats have softened and fruit has thawed. Spoonful of honey and you’re set. No need for overnight faffage.

Combo of smallish frame/seat/bar bags and a bum bag for 2 season bikepacking. Panniers and a frame bag for 3/4 season stuff.

Bum bag and panniers don’t make your back sweaty. Innit?

Freewheel.co.uk seem to have an interesting idea. Run by Madison they use the lbs network to distribute stock. Free postage if you pick up from the lbs and plenty of discounts.

Got some Black Crowes on whilst I murder dinner. The resident teenager hasn’t complained yet…

Rode mine last night. Fit well and comfy. I reckon they offer similar protection to my ageing (and expensive) IXS Flow, and way more comfortable than my previous Endura MT500s.

    Cheers for the PSA OP!

I’d video it doing it, then send it back and email them the video.

Did you buy in Paypal? If so check the deadline for opening a case with the resolution centre.

    Good luck.

I’ve turned back to Glenmorangie of late at it’s often on offer. It improves markedly with a dash of water. In fact it’s my current fave until Caol Isla becomes reasonably priced again.

I’ve used Oko original stuff diluted and with glitter. I’m back on Stans. Oko was ok but I think Stans is superior in almost every way. Apart from the price.

Dually Velocity rims on xt and Hope hubs here. Bought 2nd hand though, but 29+ turn up occasionally on the classifieds.

Pretty hard to find though. It took me a few weeks of searching and eventually a wanted ad.

Nice one! I did it for the 9th time over thur/fri last week.

I gotta agree with you on the moody ramblers. Not all of them, but a disturbingly larger proportion than normal. Mostly the retired looking ones with all the gear. In fact me and my buddy reckoned the sillier the hat the grumpier the rambler.

Although they were all put to shame during a little detour off the SDW by the middle aged dog walking lady who jumped in front of us screaming (hysterically at the top of her voice) that we were going the wrong way and weren’t allowed to ride there. I’d just checked the os gps map on my phone so I knew exactly where we were. As we rode past giving her a very wide berth she continued to scream “That’s why everyone hates you…”. Proper 0-100mph rage at the sight of us.

    It did make us chuckle.

Yeah ditto from me! Rode it for the first time in a couple of months on Friday and it was lush.

    Loved the kicker.

    Thanks whoever!

Elite Corsa for me. The cap can be removed and fitted to other Corsa bottles.

Thanks for the offers chaps but I only need the rear (non-boost shimano hub) and I’m looking for something with a minimum 35mm inner diameter.

I’ll have a look at those ARC 40 rims and maybe a cheap deore hub and have a go at building a wheel! Or more likely I’ll keep the Rumpus and moan about it until i break it.

Yeah, my other pair of Knuckle balls aren’t like this, not are my other RSP carbon bars.

Although I’ve got a couple of sets of On One carbon forks that have the odd lump and bump.

Thanks everyone. Some good links there. I like the Creative ones but I’m tempted by the Chinese brands too.

But also just seen these and I’ve always had good stuff from Anker. Will have to make up my mind over a beer this evening!

Thanks for the update Poopscoop. Keep on keeping on! It’s only pain. You’ll be over Alfriston and Jevington and cruising into Eastbourne before you know it.

We’re all rooting for you buddy!

    Sleep well Poopscoop!

Mine was always fairly unreliable. I tried to buy a new cable from the importer too and that was a painful process. But saying that I’d probably buy another for £45 for me kids, as they’d grow out of it before it breaks for good.

I’ve got a large AM9 with a RS Super Deluxe with a piggy back. I use one of these to push the bottle down. Needed a little bending, but works fine:

    Topeak Aly-Poistion Cage Mounts

I can get an Elite Corse 500ml bottle with a cap on fine. Most other 500ml bottles work.

You’ll need a side open cage too.

The Sportsman in Amberley has some cracking views from the deck. And a bike rack I seem to recall. I’ll be there at the half way stop on my yearly SDW pilgrimage in about a month!

Good luck, ride safe and have fun.

Well done OP. Thanks for posting. Quite an achievement. It took me 14 hours to go one way (although in my defense it was 35 degs!).

    Top work!

Ridden it a few times this week. Gets a little muddy in a few dips between table tops and it’s fairly rapid so make sure the little ones have good brakes.

One or two eggs depending on the size of the pan. Whisked lightly with chopped chillies, garam massalla, and salt.

Perferably cooked over a campfire with a steaming hangover.

Hi -I’ve had one nearly 5 years. Not used as a daily but ridden it plenty both on-road and as a gravel bike. Only ever raced one CX event!

I have to say it is flawless in reliability. Apart from bearing and drivetrain wear it hasn’t needed any fettling.

The frame is very tough. Mine has been dropped, bashed, scraped etc. and there is barely a scratch. The geometry is a little upright, so although I’ve done all day rides on it I suspect a more modern ‘gravel’ frame would be more comfortable, although I’ve never really suffered on it.

To be honest it has been a great bike, made all the better by the fact PX are still selling them so I don’t feel the need to upgrade to the newest version!
