25kg and 3l of red wine. That’s each, you can never have too much coal – or wine 😉

Make sure you buy a wine box – then you simply burn the box / bag when you’ve finished.

That labelling system is going to fall down a bit when you’ve got 540 stacked in there.

Nice shed and wine storage nerdage btw

    >I’m well aware how high Munros are thanks Druidh!!!!<

Aye but you clearly haven’t been up many of them ;-)Your weather advice has to be one of the worst throw away lines I’ve read on here (and that’s saying something)

Here’s the planning forecast for the ‘gorms from tomorrow:

“Cold air from the Arctic will gradually envelop all mountain areas from the north on Friday and persist well into next
week. Generally, showers, of snow and hail, the snow to a low level in Scotland, will become widespread most
    afternoons.
    Forecast issued at 07:16 Wednesday”

Not bad Poly but you forgot something – Boots in the High Street doesn’t need a security guard. Unlike Leith… 😉

    I rest my case.

    OP

Could go on at length about how good Lithgae is but you’ll find detailed info here:

    http://www.linlithgow.com/sport.htm

If you have kids it’s a no brainer in my view and I’m pretty certain you’ll find it about as far removed from the picture painted by our Leith correspondent 😉

Now the important stuff – surprising amount and variety of mtb. Beecraigs and Muiravonside are doorstep, as is the Avon river trail. 50 mins by bike along the canal and you have the new Callender mtb trails. It’s possible to return completely off road from these without using the canal. You can strike out to the coast (again off road)take the coastal path past, Blackness, South Queensferry(trails being built here now too) Dalmeny then up past Cramond and back along the canal. In fact there’s so much variety I would only jump in the car now and drive over to the Pentlands for the novelty value. Glentress is about an hour but then so is Blair Athol 😉 Nearer still (1/2hr)you have the Lomonds, some great stuff over in Stirling / the Ochils and Carron Valley.

    >Nothing would get me to live in linlithgow.

    *breathes sigh of relief*

I don’t think Leith is ticking his semi rural box somehow and with respect TJ you really are so utterly clueless at times it’s laughable.

    >what’s GT like in the wet?<

Difficult one. The cafe will be rammed, you might not get a seat. I wouldn’t chance it myself.

I had two Freehubs blow on me under warranty and it was CRC in fact who stuck a Hope Pro on at their cost.

Yeah I got that jruk but then they are the only moving parts in a front hub;-) I had exactly the same problem with SR Jumping Flea so I can only conclude that the sealing in their hubs is crap and or they fit cheapo bearings. At least you can deal with the front for a modest outlay – I’ve had 18 months out of the BETD replacement bearings I installed.

On the JF rear Hub (and on the BF it would appear) you have to throw away the Freehub when the inner bearing packs in – it’s a needle roller bearing which is swaged in / not user serviceable. That bearing needs very regular cleaning and greasing – none of which is indicated in any service instructions on the SR website. In fact there were no service instructions provided with the Hubs either. And even if there were, having to replace an entire Freehub to the tune of £180 for one wee bearing is frankly taking the p1ss.

IME SR rear hubs are cack / not up to UK riding conditions. CRC were very good with warranty but save yourself the bother and get Hope / similar.

    >I’ve had my experts for two months and have been impressed apart from having to replace the front bearings already.<

Contradiction in terms – how can anyone possibly be impressed by a wheel that gives 2 months out of set of hub bearings?

Interweb’s awash with SR complaints – spend the extra £££ and get something that will work / last.

    >high jack” – sorry- how’s meall a’ bhuachaille looking?>

The big hills might look superficial from below – they aint 😉

As of 3 p.m Thursday – surprising amount of snow >600m. Paths on both sides mostly buried / unidentifiable at this level. Summit and exposed ridges are scoured bare but the gullies and snow fields are easily 1.2m deep – you’ll go in .5m+ trying to walk on them.
